When you asked how others level jambalaya up, down here in Texas I use jalapenos (seeds and all) for spice as opposed to cayenne pepper that is typically used.
I love Jambalaya! Glad to see you using different colored bell peppers. So many people believe the Cajun Trinity (onion, celery, & bell pepper) should be only green bell peppers. Those red, orange, yellow bell peppers add so much to the flavor! Thanks for the video!
Made this last night...it was AMAZING! Thank you so much for the new recipe! Also SO easy it's kind of weird ha! I actually woke up this morning and found my husband eating it for breakfast...that's the best compliment you can give a chef! 😆
By the way I’m disabled now but was professional chef many years so my daughter is learning how to cook and she’s a natural chef like her dad. And mmmmm we love jambalaya
I just made this and I'm eating it now. I added BARELY more rice than what AB used and it made it 5x thicker. Still very good. I was surprised the shrimp cooks that fast.
My previous slow cooker finally died, (I actually broke the crock), so I bought a Instant Pot to replace it. I do believe I'll make it this week. It would also be worth making it in the oven in my Made-In Dutch oven.
It might be better to do stovetop. Instant pot slow cooker function is known to be bad/problematic. I tried a pressure cook jambalaya recipe today and wish I had cooked on the stove.
Deglaze the Instant Pot pan with a little water, chicken broth, or a liquid of your choice. I have not tried this recipe but, if you don't deglaze that pan, you will get a burn notice. Deglazing also adds flavor. Also, not sure what model you have. With the Instant Pot Pro 6 quart, I've cooked some great meals on slow cooker mode.
Making it now! Just set the timer for 3 hours :) I don’t like chunks of onion or celery though so I used minced dry seasoning of both, and added thin carrots and half a can of red kidney beans and a handful of spinach. I subbed one bell pepper for a jalapeño 🔥 I plan to add an extra half cup of rice too. can’t WAIT
No, I do not preheat my crockpot. But I do season my chicken thighs and the give then a quick sear before adding to the pot and add that searing pot liquor as well.
You know how to cook, and you are fine. You are definitely taking the mystery out of cooking. This is going to be my dinner for tomorrow, for sure. I feel like a chef, chopping and prepping with your guidance.
I made this recipe this week. My wife loved it as is, but I thought it tasted better with added salt and Worcestershire sauce. I put uncooked rice in 1 hour before the end as the video mentioned, but the rice was still hard when it was all done. Overall, it was a good base for a Cajun recipe. My wife and I enjoy your videos.
This channel deserves every one of its subrscribers. Just found it and I'm so impressed. Creative but with quality and a good mix of elevated and down to earth.
🌹 Thank you for sharing this recipe. I've been wanting to make Jambalaya in my slow cooker, but had never tried to make it before. Now... I have the perfect instructions to do so. Thank you so much Mr. Smokin'. 🌹
"You guys Let me know in the comment section" I love this guy and it cracks me up every time his asks/says that line XD. For real AB, thanks for this recipe and your step-by-step video, Im looking forward to try this.
Hey AB...Love the recipes. Love trying new stuff. As for the pot, I don't pre-heat. But I do spray the inside with Pam, to help with clean-up, and I usually turn the pot on, after the first ingredient or two. Keep the meals coming...and I'll keep eating. Thanks, man.
This is a winner! I ended up with a bit too much liquid but I suspect it is because I used my own canned tomatoes and they had more juice. This is a seriously good recipe. Thank you!
I make jambalaya when I make a roasted chicken. I use the leftovers from the roasted bird and stock I make from the frame as the liquid. I usually add ham and or sausage with shrimp. I start out in a dutch oven, render some bacon on the stove top and make my roux, then add in aromatics, let that soften, tomato paste and meats and then rice, toss it until the rice grains get coated in oil. I put my liquid in and the whole thing bakes in the oven in about 50 minutes at 350. I've never tried doing it in the slow cooker, but I'm going to try it now. :D
Man that looks so good - I got to tell you that when I was single, the crock pot was one of my best friends - put it on before you go to work on the low setting and when you come home - you got a feast! good cookin bro! keep it going
Made this today... FAB! Jambalaya is one of my favorite dishes... I've had it in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Florida, and other places... this recipe is excellent...I added okra which I enjoy in it
Hey @SmokinandGrillinwithAB love a lot of what you do, just a heads up the recipe on your link is different than the recipe you cooked. It’s a yellow & red Bell Pepper too and a full can tomato paste😀😊
Oh man, I have tried a bunch of different slow cooker jambalayas and this is hands down the BEST! Thanks for this! My only mods are I used a hot banana pepper and 2 cups of rice for a thicker texture. But otherwise, this is a killer dish!
I made the dish tonight and it was delicious. Next time I will cook the rice 45min and saute the onions just a bit before placing in the crockpot. This is certainly a dish to keep😁
I'm Australian and this is a dish I've only seen in American movies or shows and always looks delicious, so I'm very excited to try your recipe this winter!!!
I turn it on as I go. Always worked for me. When a Church dinner is coming up, its crockpot time! I hope to prepare this for the next one! No doubt an any season, any occasion dish. Thank You!!!👍
Thank you I really appreciate your recipe, Thank you for suggesting garlic infused garlic olive oil and i found an olive oil shop in Richmond va! Thank you again. God bless you and yours.
Love your channel, and website. I always find great recipes. I made this one yesterday, and used Bubba Gump cajun seasoning. We're fortunate enough to have a Bubba Gumps not far from us. It turned out amazing. i'll be making this again before too long. Thanks AB! Keep these great recipes coming!
You could never over talk it. I love listening hear you talk recipe. You have a very Barry White voice! Is there any reason if I waited on the shrimp I could not do this in a pressure cooker? I have not used my slow cooker in years. I seem to be able to convert everything to pressure and cut the time way down. ❤
I like to preheat my crockpot when I’m pressed for time. Idk why I think that’ll make a difference lol. But this looks amazing! I never thought to cook jambalaya in a crockpot. Definitely gonna give this a try. Thanks AB
YO AB! I made this recipe Sunday and I have been eating it all week for dinner. IT GETS BETTER as it sits. 100% y’all need to try this.
AB you're one of a kind man. Keep doing what you do!!!!!!!! Stop making my stomach growl.
I love slow cooker cooking. More recipes please! This is awesome. And, yes, I almost always preheat-especially with raw poultry.
This was so amazing. I never thought to make it in the crockpot. I added just a half cup more rice cuz i like mine thick.
Yummy 😋 I can’t wait to try this recipe
Thank you. I was wondering 🤔
AB you be killing em in the kitchen bruh
AB is 🔥

One word, Excellent!!!!!

Good suggestion. I’m going to try searing before adding it.
That sounds so delicious
