Lots of folks saying this one is made in India, but it's only the Streets that are sold overseas that are made overseas. The domestic Street 500s and 750s are made in the US in the Kansas City plant -- the ones for the world market are the only ones made in Bawal, India.
It's fun and different than other Harley Davidson bikes in a good way. It handles well, quick, non-intimidating, and runs smooth. People compliment you riding it and ask questions regularly. The neutral switching gets better with breaking in. The mirrors are crap other than that it's a great bike.
Great insightful video! New rider and strongly considering the street 500 looks like a great bike love that it's all blacked out and a v twin and a great entry into the Harley family!
Just test rode this today. What a fun bike. I love the vibe. The feel. The pickup was OK...good enough I'd say. Handles nice around the curves. Shifts smooth. Great review video!
I'm 17 rn and I've been eyeballing this bike for over 3 Months now. would you recommend me this bike to be a good one for my first? I turn 18 in March next year which isn't far away so I'm just wondering. I've been around bikers my whole life so I know a thing or two you know
i may be a little late on a reply. I highly recommend this for a first bike. The harley davidson academy by me where you learn to ride on actually uses the bikes.
Back in the 1960s and 70s Harley sold lightweights like the Scat, Pacer and even a scooter all made in USA . Later they sold an Italian made 250 and 350 4 stroke single.
liquid cooled engines are a undisciplined menace ! they are to much cost worthy, they make a mess, and will leave you stranded just like a spoke rim and inner tube blowout. air cooled is the best, professional choice, least costing, unstrandable , mess-less motor ever built. air cooled motors are made to ' go further than the extra mile '.
I am 5ft 90lbs and I test drove both the 500 and 750. I picked up the 750 because it didn't cost much more plus both bikes weight the same and have the same seat height. I did add the lower seat and installed 2 inch shorter shocks. It looks amazing with the lower rear shocks and the sculpted lower seat. Oh yeah, if you need to get the bike into neutral, it is a lot easier with the engine off. Thanks for the video.
What is the highest MPH on the speedometer on this motorcycle? Can this motorcycle go 100 Miles per hour? I am also referring to the factory / stock version. No custom versions
This is a great bike. Awesome and so fun to ride. I traded up from my street 500 for the street Rod . I put speed merchant slip on and this really roars. They are selling the leftover street 500 blue and red ones in Atlanta for $5499 brand new . The 500 is great starter bike I traded up after 1 year to the 750 street rod 2017 model and love it. The mirrors on the 500 did not work well but the street rod model with bar end mirrors are the best.
It's has the name but not the feeling of a tru Harley. They just want new riders in their brand. They should made the 883 cheaper in price put the 750 and 500 motor in that bike. They would sold tons. This bike come on Harley what was you thinking and made in another country. That's not a true American made bike. Another downfall for a new Harley rider. I haven't seen one on the streets in so cal yet. If I ever get a HD 883 all the way I would skip this so called Harley.
I don't want this thing but it's only legal 1 for new rider here..dont want non.U.S built..I'm just going to get 883 anyway but it break traffic law. 500 waste money bad resale..grr
np also see my review of Indian Scout, Victory Cross Country for negative points. on your current question, its a toss up between 750 (video is coming soon) and 883, the 883 is more badass than 750 and fits big guys better, the 750 transmission is better, and extremely good handler, i would probably do the 883
A Honda Grom has a better build quality than this. Check out the zip-tied wire bundle between the fuel tank and the forks. Could have tucked that mess under the tank or something?
I'm glad HD gave us two choices for small bikes Streets/Sportsters. Both great bikes.
👍
Just purchased my HD Street 500 . I’m so content with it. My entry level bike. Ride on 😎🤘🏼
Hi mate not sure if you still have it 😂but I’m looking at one and am curious what they’re like on the highway/longer trips occasionally?

Emily Dare thanks for the info babe! That was a big factor for me.

Can't find Neutral? On a "great bike" with good "fit and finish"? Must be Harley Davidson standards you're talking about.

I am also 6'1 in height and weigh about 175 pounds. pretty hefty for my age.
yes you are fine on this, this is a great bike for beginners and experienced riders
SFR SanFranciscoRider thank you for your feedback you have a new sub great video btw.

I'm a newbie, I have similar height and weight to you. Is this bike comfortable for a long ride?

nice post 👍
Harley Davidson should lower the price on lots of models. Especially with them losing money and the lawsuits.

it says 120 mph does it do it?? does it pass 120 mph Wtf??? lol
Harley Davidson steel 500 cc mileage
nobody wants to say or show how fast this bike is smh smh that's all I want to see
Basically Harley’s for 18 year olds
straight pipe would sound mint on this
what kinda helmets you have to use
OMG if you couldn't find a NEUTRAL that means this bike is junk not worth a penny.
I have had it for almost a year love it check out my vid's lots of mod's still adding
hey Henry good to hear, nice mods man 👍
TY Sunny side up bro
haha thx man :) i like the street500 a lot !
Is this the 2017 model?
2015 gx500 got it last year
Is now alibable?
They're delivering the 2017 in India, so they must be elsewhere too.
Serious question, do you say every bike is great in your reviews?
no, see my concours review and see my reviews on what i dont like about Vstrom
Ok another question, between the street 500, 750 and the iron 883 which do you like best? And why
