Thanks Randy for another great video. It is good to see you up and about again. Happy St. Patties day to you as well. Looks interesting for a soldering practice project. I am looking forward to the warming up so I can get out in my work shop to do some cutting for a project I am hoping to do soon for a pretty awesome music spectrum analyzer build. Good to see you tinkering around Randy and look forward to more. ...by the way - that last project you couldn't remember - (I am whispering) - The dim-able desk lamp... ;)

I been good just winters are not my favorite and it's been hard to keep up with house work. I'm hoping to get back into making videos again soon. Glad to hear from you and hope your doing well.

Thank you, I have soldering skills and make my one, all works (adjust, volume and frequency) but display does not work at at- not a single sigit. Would you be able to let know please which connection could be affected?. I doubt display part is faulty- there is not even a single part of display that work. the small chip I checked and touch again with solder to make sure it is connected. Otherwise is simply board- I make more complex one in past with no itssues. Thank you.
Edit- I re-touch with solder all the big chip on top and resistors to make sure the solder is there too (that leaks from back on top fully) and it works althought there was no cold solder before. All works no problem now. Your instruction on testing components very good

I built this kit this afternoon. It works great for 3 minutes and then cuts out with an oscillation noise with no audio. Any advice will be much appreciated. This is second attempt, first radio was as dead as a door nail. I have good solder skills. Thanks in advance.

I built this kit ,first turn on no red light or display,re soldered the led and it lit up but still no display check every soldered joint make sure all components are right way around, took me a while but stick at it mine now works.also it only works well with good quality batteries. I'm no expert but hope this helps good luck.

I appreciate your comment however I got lucky and it worked the first time. That is kind of rare for my kit videos, but honestly I still need to dive into radio's yet to know how they work and it all comes together. I have been meaning to however I always seem to get side tracked by different vacuum equipment that grabs and holds my attention for a while. I can only recommend keep looking thru UA-cam and try different searches. Thanks again.

Hey Tony I just thought of someone who built this same kit I believe and knows more about it to hopefully answer your questions. I hope it helps you, and let me know if you have any questions. TY Randy

@@RandysDen Hi Randy, the last radio I built works OK now. I use good quality batteries, but they don't last long. The first radio is completely dead. Only the led light cones on. I've tested all components with dmm, scope and component tester. Think the issue might be the small chip. It took me two attempts to solder it and I may have fried it with too much heat. Thanks and keep safe.

I build one of these and my screen isn't working for some reason got any ideas why?

Can you possibly hook up to it with the USB input for 5 volts, I'm wondering if the battery voltage is high enough for it to work however low enough to not light the display lights. I would also try to darken the lights to see if there is a faint light being displayed, thats not seen in normal lighting, and check your connections and soldering. Thanks for feedback, Randy

it is not the screen, if you remove the smaller chip you'll see all functions working right except you won't have any output. that said if you use low on power batteries it might shut down immediately
