    This makes me appreciate radio’s!
It’s amazing how cheap radio’s are to buy!
Compared to trying to build one!!
It makes you realize in “expensive” radio is not a waste of money!!

To all those commenting on earphones... The crystal earphone is much more sensitive than anything relying on a magnetic field. You are talking about microvolts driving the audio device. The extremely high impedance of the crystal allows a tiny voltage to develop across the earpiece. It's like the crystal pickup on and old record player where the tiny movements of the needle flexes a crystal to generate a small voltage. Just the opposite here, though - the voltage flexes the crystal to move the diaphragm in the earpiece. Have fun!

Very creative! I've never seen anyone use paper fasteners to connect the wires before. Very, very good idea.
In most cases you won't hear anything without about 20 feet of wire for the antenna. An antenna will work better outside than inside. I think this man is fairly close to a transmitter that he doesn't know about if he can hear any sound just by holding the antenna wire.
If you stick a pipe or a metal rod in the ground to attach to the ground wire outside your window you will increase the volume noticeably.
A speaker will not work unless you have a long antenna and are about a quarter mile away from the transmitter.
And old telephone receiver from the seventies or eighties will work.
I'm going to use the paper connectors. Very good idea!

Use about 50 or 60 feet of 26 to 30 gauge wire. A 1n34 germanium diode...I don't know which value schotky diodes are good for radios.
If you get a magnetic headphone, you want at least 2000 to 3000 ohms. They can be purchased from Scott's Old Headphones website.
The piezoelectric earphone shown wears out quickly because the new ones only have the wires glued on instead of soldered. It's good for just an experiment to see if it works, but if you want headphones that will last for years, get a pre-1960 magnetic headphone.

It gets the power (microvolts) from the radio transmitter. AM stations use 10,000 watts upwards of RF power. The germanium diode works either way round as it turns the AC radio waves into DC to feed the high output crystal earpiece.

Repent and trust in Jesus. we deserve Hell for our sins. For example lying, lusing, saying God's name as a cuss word and stealing our just some examples of sin which we can all admit to doing at least one of those. For our sin we deserve death and Hell, but there is a way out. Repent anf trust in Jesus and you will be saved. Repentence is turning from sin. So repent and trust in Jesus. He will save you from Hell, and instead give you eternal life in Heaven.

You don't need a power source, the radio waves are turned into soundwaves. But you need a crystal earphone for this because you need a very sensitive speaker.

You really don't have a clue what you are doing do you? But thanks for the effort. No, not any speaker or earphone will work if you aren't using an amplifier - only a high impedance earphone and no they are not "cheap". You need a much better "ground" and "antenna" unless you are practically on top of the radio station. But it was nice of you to try and it is a very simple example.
