Haha, I love them! Overwhelmed myself with them a little, I don’t have too much time to paint usually so stopped doing them. Leviathan is going to be Lamenters though! :)
Cheers Necro sight, very much appreciated. :-). I have a Lamenters Primaris (mainly) army to paint up, so there'll be a lot of Lamenters in the future! :-)
Cheers Josku5, much appreciated. It was either the Lamenters, the Crimson Fists or the Scythes of the Emperor, I have a love of chapters who've been battered and are fighting back from the brink. I went with Lamenters because I liked their lore, I have a soft spot for them. :)
The averland sunset spray can often yield dusty surfaces from which your miniature suffers as well. Try the Army Painter yellow, you'll get far smoother undercoats.
Hi decentradical, Yeah, that's what caused the dusty surfaces. A good scrub with a toothbrush usually gets the worst of it off, but sometimes not. Will give the Army Painter one a go, I've used a lot of their sprays and they seem just as good to me! :)
@@BrushandBoltgun The GW sprays, except for the black one, have a finer droplet particles and without enough solvent. This causes the paint to dry halfway mid-air before it hits the miniature and land as a 'gunk' of paint on the miniature. The Army Painter sprays in larger droplets and with more solvent which means the droplets splash on the miniature as a liquid giving it an even coating.
decentradical I use a lot of GW sprays and the gold (not enough shaking, so user error on that) and yellow are the only ones I’ve had an issue with (I’ve been through a lot of cans). They tend to work fine if shaken properly though. If you’ve had it with more than the yellow and gold maybe you’ve been unlucky?
awesome guide. I recently painted an imperial fist dreadnought and I did a very similar wash and then paint over with the averland sunset again. Its not the best technique for such large flat surfaces though.
Cheers Necrodead, much appreciated! Yeah, I have a pair of Redemptors and one of the big tanks sat on the shelf waiting to go (along with two Black Legion rhinos), still not convinced on a method to paint any of them! haha :)
Hey there, BubberDucky 64, I replied on my phone and it seems that it didn't come through. They're a great chapter, but their chapter badge is a bit more awkward than most! :). I did a video on how I approach it here: ua-cam.com/video/CHwXtCujKyM/v-deo.html which may help. :) A still of it was used on a Dr Strange meme last year! :)
@@BrushandBoltgun Thank you for the video and looking at my comment. It’s the first time a youtuber has seen a comment of mine and I’m glad it was from someone who is part of such a welcoming community.
Hi Adrian, thanks for watching. I was mainly seeing what the different shades looked like. Despite using Casandora Yellow on some of the others, I’m not sure which I prefer. I’ve stood them next to each other and there’s not a whole lot of difference. The orange shows the detail slightly more, but not by much. :) Still not decided on which I prefer. What do you think looks better?
@@BrushandBoltgun I tried yellow shade but it was't dark enough so i ended up adding agrax, but that looks more dirty. I will try the orange one next time.
Hi Jimmy, thanks for watching. I'd not heard of them before, but they're a nice looking chapter - remind me of the old Ultramarines Medic colours in the Warhammer 40000 Compendium! :) Looking at the Storm Wardens pics, I think I'd go with either Macragge Blue or Caledor Sky for the blue, and Administratum Grey for the grey bits (or if you have some Vallejo, London Grey would do it too). :)
Just my opinion not a critic but wouldn’t it have been easier to spray it with a similar shade of the wash color and then do the Averland? Would save a step and get the same effect and probably without the rough finish.
It's all good Jose, it's a good point, and thanks for watching! :) I thought about that, but knowing how yellow paint can be going over darker colours, I thought I'd just try and shade the details. I think it'd be easier for me to paint smoothly over the little bits rather than try and paint all the yellow over the orange? I don't think there's a right and a wrong way, I may give it a try and see how it goes! :)
I have six undercoated in Leadbelcher about 16" away from me. I can't decide on a knight house for them. I've gone with Xestobiax for the titans(not all painted...), just need to think of the house for the little guys. Will put a vid up in the future for sure though. Probably a warhound too. :)
Hey Mox, many thanks for watching! :) The colours are based on the Lamenters from the Imperial Armour Badab War Book 1, so I was sticking to those for the chapter. :)
more Lamenters please, they deserve nice things
Haha, I love them! Overwhelmed myself with them a little, I don’t have too much time to paint usually so stopped doing them. Leviathan is going to be Lamenters though! :)
Your freehand skills always impress me .
Cheers The Black Knight, very much appreciated! One day I'll figure out how to do lettering, then I'll be happy! :-)
It is incredible. Go on with lamenters please, my favorite chapter) Im painting only with ur tutorials)
Cheers Necro sight, very much appreciated. :-). I have a Lamenters Primaris (mainly) army to paint up, so there'll be a lot of Lamenters in the future! :-)
I'm getting back into 40k after a few years away I'm playing Lamenters Thanks for your content this is very helpful.
No problem, James, thanks for watching. There'll be more Lamenters to come, there's a whole lot of yellow undercoat on their shelf! :)
@@BrushandBoltgun looking forward to it :)

Just started painting warhammer and decided on lamenters but oh wow is the checkered shoulder with the heart difficult

Adding white to a transparent yellow will increase its opacity. When dry a second thin coat of yellow will bring back the vibrancy of the colour.
Peter Saczko True enough, thanks for watching! :)
Hi Rob, why did you use Fuegan Orange instead of Casandora Yellow?

Yeah, the orange is probably a good way to go. :) I always use Agrax to dirty things up, but the orange will defo work better. :)
I'm starting a Storm Wardens space marine army. Any recommendations for colour scheme?

any chance your going to do an adeptus titanicus? the knights look fairly daunting.
