My first foreign performer concert! 16 and such a fangirl, I remember there were people who have been fans since '92 seeing them live for the first time. This was such a highlight for me as not many people around knew ABBA lyrics.
I just watched mamma mia last week and told my wife this would be a great song for John to cover. I’m guessing I unknowingly remembered subconsciously but still very cool to find.
I like his rendition of this song more than the original. This style and sweetness suits the song's lyrics better I feel. Just Johns voice and his melancholy guitar. Love it.
MusicLova if his version had the pre-chorus "rise-up" it would be a better version. I consider all version without it lame. That part makes this song beyond perfect.

Idk why people in Serbia have bad memory of that concert. It was near small town Indjija, for some reason people expected 2hour+ long concert or something and also I heard that the weather was awful that day. Peppers played pretty good concert in my opinion, all of their hits, and also John covered a song. I don't what people that were on the concert crying for?

ABBA were always cool. They just didn't have big hang-ups about appearing so. Rock musicians, even back in the day recognised their talent. They tend to be more open minded than some of the fans who follow them. There is also a dark underlying melancholy in many ABBA songs, lurking beneath the upbeat melodies and bright voices of the two women lead singers. That appeals to Rock sensibility's too.
