YAAAAAAS
True hahahaha... I have started since 2 hours ago and keep on going
Incredibly addictive, aren't they?
Never. 😀
Yes you can almost feel the lyrics it’s a great feeling
I don't know why but somehow Abba is the happiest and the saddest music ever at exactly the same time.
I know exactly what you mean! Nothing like it.
Yes exactly.
Very well said!
It's by design. They're some crafty weirdos. Dancing Queen, one of their biggest hits, has a pretty tragic subject matter, if you parse it out.
Точно
It's 2024 now and I still think ABBA is one of the best pop groups ever.
Even me.. I play their music 🎶
I'm a Fan since 1975, love them till today❤
We can tell the comment year by the UA-cam time stamp.
I'm 14 and they are one of my favorite pop groups. Their music will continue to inspire a new generation.
Easily one of the best, if not the best.
Июнь 2024, кто со мной слушает эту прекрасную музыку?)
I saw them live in Boston in 1979. Their flight was delayed and the concert started late. As they went on stage, they apologized even though it wasn’t their fault. They said “we’re going to make it up to you!” And boy did they ever! Best concert I ever saw!!
Even more amazing. Their little private jet had to contend with one of the most damaging tornadoes to hit New England in modern times. The 'Windsor Locks Tornado' cost three lives and decimated a section of Bradley Airport. ABBA had to divert to Manchester. Conn. The stress of that flight caused Agnetha to become ill and the Washington concert the following day had to be cancelled.
Supposedly, that was the VERY flight that caused Agnetha to have severe anxiety about flying...between NYC and Boston during the North American tour.
Какой вы счастливчик! Я обожаю АББА💝
You were lucky to see and hear the originals!
@@terryc.3390 True
John lennon said this was the greatest pop song written.
Oh serious? Biggest Beatles fan of all time here. In my mind the two bands are era's apart. Awesome that they acknowledged each other.
Pete Townshend said the same thing.
V. I. Lenin?
John lennon was right!!
Gandhi also said the same thing about this song.
50 years later, ABBA is still a legend and WILL ALWAYS be surpassing EVERY music generation!
This is May 2024 and I still love this track. Who is with me?
Yep, here in May..
Iam here!Always and forever.
Timeless music!

Oh the melody, the harmony, the music.....thank you ABBA
+Will Pack there is over 65000 likes, how could you tell it wasn't registering
+Sitdownand Shut up pretty sure he means liking the comment not the video
Ooohhhh! Oohhh, the ... melody, the ... ahh, the ... the harmony, James! Oh yes! The music, James! Aahhhh!
Thank you Mr Bond! What a performance!
I cannot find all the words!
"Well, my dear, I shall get you a dictionary so you can keep on improving your English vocabulary." (To paraphrase the opening scene to The Spy Who Loved Me.)
That's what was great about the 70s: Pop was fun. Bond was fun, not a robot. Nothing too forlorn or God-forsaken.
Hygur: I did not say it was great - I said it was fun. Pop was not morose then. It wasn't self-centred, self-regarding, self-pitying nonsense.
Hygur: as for Bond movies back then, in both the 60s and 70s, Bond oozed charm and had a sense of humour. People got their money's worth going to the cinema: they were entertained. The Bond movies in those days were all tongue-in-cheek. Even the Cold War had fun poked at it.
Even John Lennon said that this was one of his favorite songs! That’s proof to show how many people love ABBA out in the whole world. I mean Queen Elizabeth’s favorite song is Dancing Queen!
As well as Princess Diana's. I also believe Queen Silvia of Sweden.
And John McCain’s. If there’s one thing liberals and conservatives can passionately agree on, it’s that ABBA is the GOAT
Well that went well with Beatles song "Help"
According to bassist Glen Matlock, the intro to the Sex Pistols' "Pretty Vacant" is based on the "bomp-BOMP-bomp-BOMP" piano line in this tune.
ABBA once heard one of John Lennon's songs and said, that's not too bad!
Another reason why Abba is the greatest popular music band in the world.
There is the little matter of the Beatles...
It´s May 2024 and here we are. 🥰🥰🥰

Who in May of 2024 ???
Me. And I don't know how??
Me, may 31st 2024. I know how. I looked the song up. 😆 🤣
🙋♀️🙋♀️
Or actually it's June now. 2024.
June 2024 eh❤🎉 S.O.S.
The slight imperfections, the naivety in the English lyrics + the accents just add to the genuine melancholy. This is a pop masterpiece - perfect arrangement, perfect performance. Stunning.
It has two different choruses, one after the other?
Do you think that the accented singing adds a little more poignancy to the English lyrics because of the potential emotional sensitivity of anyone in an unfamiliar environment (and who thereby must have an accent) who also suffers a relationship break-down there? And who is thus cast even more adrift? (Who would likelier be without the same levels of support that someone without an accent would have).
And what imperfections in the grammar or style of the lyrics do you detect? I do not see any.
If you compare how letters and postcards were written in the mid-70s to those of today (if people still write letters and postcards!), then you would see a lazier attempt at writing generally today that's clumsy with wording.
The net effect of that is a tendency towards insincerity and aloofness, because we are all told to rush around like headless chickens today - and letter-writing is a chore. Unlike yesterday. The art of song-writing has already died though.
(In S.O.S., the protagonist singer, as I understand, is still on the periphery of her former boyfriend's life - down, but not out!)
In S.O.S., the protagonist singer is still on the periphery of her former boyfriend's life. She's down, but not out.
That is what the lyrics convey to me. And no break-up of a strong relationship was ever a fait accompli - that's the message of this cleverly written and well-meaning song.
It's a pop song - but one of great depth. A song that most everyone can relate to / can connect strongly to - and yet would fear to hear (on a personal level). Hope and despair (the emotional plea for love to wake up again). Amazingly bitter and sweet with respect to lyrics and music. Powerful combinations.
Dustshoe Your posts have something scientific about them. They are stringently beautiful in a way.. Ever considered writing in a scholarly journal? :)
This band has like 20 #1 hits
sold more albums then the Beatles
A Jacko sold more than Abba, PS
Nobody sold more albums than the Beatles. This is well documented. Just look at the world's biggest record market, the USA. The Beatles leaving everyone trailing in the dust when it comes to record sales, and that included Abba, Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones, you name it. The only one who is relatively close (due 45s sales) is Elvis Presley.

The more closely I listen to ABBA, the more I realize those four were operating at a level way beyond what most musicians ever are. Such complexity and arrangement!
really? complex? how much music have you heard in your life. Listen to this from 55 seconds in to the end, .. fast forward a little in to about 55 to skip the first part. ua-cam.com/video/vZDlZwKD4bs/v-deo.html This is what Complex is in modern music. as for old music its J S Bach.
THIS is a little softer and easier version of try complexity, Blutech - Prayers for Rain ua-cam.com/video/B7CFE3OA9HE/v-deo.html listen to this and dont shut off early, and youll know what super intelligent complex music is.

Jamilya: I'm not charging a fee for my good advice. But remember: Abba strived to come up with fluent and eloquent lyrics when in Stockholm, in the 70s, they may have not known anybody whose first language was English who lived close by (if looking for advice).
There is nothing shameful about pointing out deficiencies in somebody's grammar.
We Swedes are proud of Abba. It's timeless and tuneful.

These guys have so many top tier songs. Can you all believe I didn't really know much at all about Abba until a couple weeks ago? I get a taxi every morning to town and it's about a 15-20 minute ride each way. It's always the same driver and he's got a playlist he always has playing and it's got some abba songs on it. I kept noticing that I'd always get one of their songs stuck in my head so I decided to look them up here and found a bunch more of their songs. I'm starting to get hooked and I'm beginning to bond with their music. They just make some top notch music that transcends genre bias. For instance, I'm big into rock and even heavy metal, but Abba is just so good at song writing that it doesn't matter to me that they're a pop band which isn't my normal genre. It's just that good. I'm glad my driver had a few Abba songs on the radio or else I never would have discovered alot of this stuff.
I am from the future...2024 ...ABBA still rules ❤

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging great musicianship. ABBA were brilliantly skilled musicians.
Most metal musicians respect ABBA and metal songwriters have created riffs based on pretty much all ABBA's tunes. ze melodies.. And pretty much all metalheads that i know binge some ABBA once in a while, or do it regularly to get some variety from whatever metal they listen to.
