As soon as you get the aim 7E the grind just gets 10 times easier.
No the aim-7E has to be used in close range to get an splash it sounds stupid but it's easier that way

Never ceases to amaze me how so many players don’t shut off afterburn, roll over and deploy countermeasures while evading at long range, expecting missiles from the front to track the false signals behind their jet…
Fun thing is, that's how you do it, pretty sure the missile has a harder time differentiating between a flare and the plane from the front, from the rear it's easier for the missile since your afterburner is right there
Because some planes are just utterly screwed (su25 and other fatass planes you should lose hope in)
@@Idk-cz9ms those planes rely purely on the amount of cm they get, A-10 is slow but good luck getting an IR missile through 80 flares

You'll be happy to know that the stock grind for the F-14B is much easier.
Also i find it kinda interesting seeing that brief bit of Phoenix gameplay, it kinda looked like you were nostly using it like a FOX-1 that you could safely lose lock with rather than a proper FOX-3

3:38 Wait the AIM-7 E-2 is fire and forget? I skipped the F14A and got the B and use the AIM7Ms and you have to keep lock to guide them in. Otherwise they just self destruct in the air.

Gaijin just broke 7E, 7E-2(not skyflash), so that old bag, and because this bag 7E/E-2 work like fire-forget
It's complex and applies to all radar missiles, but the best way to explain it is that SARH missiles are basically IR missiles but for radar returns, and they can lock onto other radar sources than specifically that of the launch aircraft's radar target. Essentially, if there's another target emitting tons of radiation, it will lock onto it even if it's not locked by your radar

@@Memer69Except it should? The target was still illuminated enough for the missile to track, presumably by a teammate, so why shouldn't it keep tracking?

You should just go straight for the F-14B (I'm assuming you don't yet have it), F-16 weapons, on an F-14, plus 700 CMs and 54Cs, that's some next level shit

Greetings Steel Guru! Please tell me how did you shoot down two planes with AIM-7E-2 missiles, first firing one missile and then another(at 3:38sec)🤨🤔?! I tried to do this, but the first rocket explodes before reaching the target!
I stock grinded the F14A for a little bit and then just decided to skip it for a while and go for the F14B, which in my experience is much easier.

And how do you dodge them?
You can think of it sorta like a gacha game. Flares won't guarantee a missile's redirection towards it. The more you use though, the better chances. It's difficult though because of the low count we all start with :(
radar missiles aren't affected by flares at all. That's what chaff is for

How did the first AIM-7 hit when you unlocked the target?
It has to do with how SARH missiles work; they don't communicate with the aircraft or anything, but instead just chase the intense radar return from an illuminated target. Essentially, it's an IR missile, but instead of heat its radar, and the reason why the missile still tracked is because someone else happened to be illuminating his target, so the missile stayed locked onto that return
Imagine if the DCS F-14 was in game with actual realistic phoenix missiles
They would need even bigger maps. Those things have about 100 mile range

Why does the aim7e2 df still go for the target even if you lose the lock?
It is the CW signal of the missile, which means that as long as the target is illuminated (not especially locked) by the radar of the aircraft it was launched from, the SARH missile can still "see" it and lock onto it and eventually hit it.
