    Hi, first of all thank you so much for your tutorials, Maya can be really confusing sometimes and you are great at teaching it. But I'm having a problem with this method of doing UVs. (actually, I have a problem with all UV methods :P).
    I'm using a model "similar" to this one, it's supposed to be a wooden barrel, and after I unitize when I move and sow it sows it in a way that it becomes distorted. It looks like it ignores the cut I've made on the side and makes a weird donut shape. Do you know what I might be doing wrong or if it's some bug? I tried following your steps multiple times and I just can't make it right.

    • @jlmussi
      @jlmussi  5 років тому

      Off the top off my head and assuming you get the uv shell of the sides of the barell in a square or rectangular shape...try unfolding only in the U or the V.

    As a beginner, can I say too much fella. It started out ok, but then you just start thundering through command selections as if we are all experts. The only chance you have is to go frame by frame and no-one wants to be doing that. If you want to make videos for beginners you are going to have to drop a few gears and never assume that people know what you are doing. I'm not going to dislike the video as it is all great, but you just got into your groove and forgot all us, idiots, trying to figure out what to do at each step. Maybe include a download of the can and an image to fit onto it. That way we can mirror what you are doing to help it all sink in.

    Not to mention vaguely describing really important ideas, like texel density, seven minutes into the video.
    I get people are doing a service by producing these vids but why's it so hard to find tutorials that properly explain the ideas, instead of just saying 'click this, and then this, and then this'?
