- Let's see how fast the Toyota 4Runner TRD PRO is with an acceleration test to check the 0-100 km/h / 0-60 mph times!
The king of the mighty off-road, the Toyota 4Runner TRD PRO, is back to test our famous diagonal hill, but guess what, this machine is too good for that puny little bump! So we had to put it in 2WD and just had fun to see that suspension travel expand and compress! The 4Runner is one of the last mid-size SUVs to share its chassis with a pickup truck! The 4Runner’s gutsy 270-horsepower 4.0-liter V6 routes its stout 278 lb.-ft. of torque through a 5-speed ECT-i automatic transmission with sequential shift mode. The available part-time 4WD system uses Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) and bolsters off-road capability with a two-speed transfer case with selectable low-range. By distributing drive force to any one wheel in contact with the ground, A-TRAC can help make terrain irregularities and slippery patches virtually transparent to the driver. The 4Runner TRD Off-Road, Off-Road Premium, and TRD Pro models add the capability of an electronic-locking rear differential and Toyota’s Crawl Control (CRAWL) feature. The TRD Pro Series that comes ready to hit the trail with unique TRD-tuned front springs, TRD Bilstein high-performance shocks with rear remote reservoirs, Nitto Terra Grappler tires, and a TRD front skid plate.

I’m assuming the 4 runner is the dual VVTI variant for about 270 something herspers over the 236 taco herspers

I’m perfectly happy with my 2016 acceleration. It’s actually way quicker than a capable body on gram suv would normally be.

Gawd, I LOVE that frikkin grainy dash screen! Looks like you're playing Pacman with your 4Runner. So glad that I crashed my previous car and was "forced" to buy a 2019 4R TRD Pro. It's the best breed of old school SUV out there. The 2020 and up got all sissy with useless bling.

J M it’s a an SUV with NA V6, if you like keep your car for years and years, you do not want a turbo or twin turbo in one of these. Now if would have been amazing if it had a V8 option as well, would be as fast as 6-7 seconds for 0-60.

Probably really soft motor mounts to dampen any vibrations. My mom has one of these and the engine is very smooth for such a large v6.

I had a 4runner for a while. The gearing in it made no sense, and it was so slow. Idk why they didn’t put the 3.5 and a 6 speed in

Wait a minute, so you didn’t even slap in an S mode to rev up shifting it? You just left it on auto letting the automatic transmission shift for you huh?😂 It’s plenty of fast if you know how to shift correctly at the right time. There is a reason why old five-speed cars are slightly slower than those that can’t be manually shifted. Of course an old five speed is not fast enough itself.
How come the 03 sport edition V6 I have is faster? It's like 7 seconds to 60.
Probably because it's lighter and they tuned this generation for more mpgs.

Why do you do the test on 4th gear????
LOl! It's in sports mode! When in S mode, the truck limits to 4th gear and leave the rest to your manual shift.... it does not keep in in 4th all the time.

@@Steathl Toyota manual mode on the transmission is not that refined, so no! it's best to leave it that way in S mode . it's old tech.

I wish they would at least add 55 more hp or so. Maybe 80 horsepower. Its wayy underpowered.
Also these tanks dont handle corners or turning very well. I can go around a turn much faster in a tacoma than these. I have like these "25" mph turns and my 4runner wouldnt corner at 38. The taco can go much faster than that lmao.
if you have a 2019+ 4R TRD Pro, just add Eibach springs. problem solved.

Slapping it in sport mode, and it will change your mind. Don’t just rely on the five speed shifting it for you. It’s not the fastest, but it’s for sure Quicker than relying on just the pedal shifting for you. There is a reason why stick shift were quicker than a five speed automatic in the 90s. You can literally rev up every gear as you please and it won’t shift for you on S mode.

I'm just confused on why people keep calling this slow this is not built to be a fast car if you want fast buy a Ford Explorer St or a Jeep Grand Cherokee trackhawk. Also there is no V8 model for this generation if you want a V8 on a 4Runner you're going to have to buy a 4th generation Toyota 4Runner. Or do an engine swap and try to squeeze a V8 into the engine compartment

The 4.0L Fortuner is a bit faster even tho it has the same engine but with 240hp. It can do about 7.8 Seconds from 0-100 km/h.
