Stop Telegraphing Punches in Boxing | Punch Faster and Land more Punches

- Stop telegraphing punches in boxing so you will be able to punch faster and land more punches. Telegraphing is pulling or loading up your punches before throwing them. This gives you some more power into the punch but makes it unlikely to land or hit your opponent.

Do you need to keep your back as rigid as possible when you punching? ie focus on power from your back muscles.
Video about boxers injuries, and how to avoid them. I had always problems with my lower back. Sometimes more, sometimes it's ok for a long time. And also my right elbow hurts. Im now 37 and I can take time off when i have to, but when i was young it was hard to skip training when got little pain here and there.

Are you telegraphing your punches mate>
@@Tony_Jeffries you noticed my comment hahah. all the time sir. I get hit even before throwing a punch. A fan from the philippines 😃

@@jackhill4907 i appreciate this. Yeah i need to be more intuitive.

I started boxing 5 months ago, I'm 21. Thanks for all the tips you give me, I don't want to fight in official bouts, but only sparring. Love your videos, they're so useful.
The classic is do the Telegraphing gestures for a right punch and instead throw a left , it always seems to work as comical as it sounds
Sounds like a feint mate but thanks for sharing!
That’s a feint. Feints work very often in my experience. People have a very difficult time with them.
My coach always said I was great at feinting.... Especially after getting punched
That was yesterday's classic. These days you feint the left, feint the right, then a kick straight to the nutsack. Works on my 90 year old granddad every time. But he's blind.

For such a small place, England has such a huge variation of accents. Most of them are vastly different. America is way bigger, but the accents aren’t anywhere near as varied.
Much of it's due to the mingling effects of Norse / Danish invasions in the north, and the Norman invasion in the south. And Ali-G.
Correct. London alone has 3 accents .... in a way. Posh - Spoken by the Royal family and usually upperclass, Cockney - Which is what most london men sound like the “ You alright mate “ etc etc, and lastly Common - Which is spoken by people like Anthony Joshua , Myself , KSI , common is usually a mixture of slang and spoken by most people who come from the lower class areas , but the funny thing is , to people who arent from london all 3 of these sound posh and you can always find all of those accents in every type of area in london. Lastly , if you dont hear these 3 accents then they’re most likely not from london , People who arent from london actually sound more like irish and scottish because they just live closer to those countries , London/ England is at the bottom of the Great british map, and its Great britain afterall, we done alot of mixing during our history of war times
Yeah? Go to New Jersey. If you really pay attention you'll hear 4-5 different accents in less than an hour's drive from place to place.
Thanks for doing all this. Love your videos and content x. I only hit the bag for exercise but if I were 25 years younger.....these would have made a great difference. Hopefully it does for all your other subscribers ❤❤❤
This was something I always wondered about, so I'm glad you covered it 😄
You are a blessing, Tony. Thanks for all the lessons.
Outstanding video as always! The "think about" counter was a nice touch 😂
His teaching style of telling us common mistakes and the way to correct them helps me so much.
I'm always in the gym looking out for bad habits
Great vid Tony! I love your admitting that bringing it back might get more power, because we need to understand why we get into this bad habit!
Thank you for the great advice as always I watch your videos and always try them at the gym. I've seen a major improvement!
Learning the best from the best as perfect practice makes it perfect. 🔥💪
Very good breakdown and this is an important tip in boxing without doubt ive had to implement this in sparring when the dude was so quick at blocking I had to ask myself if I was telegraphing or being predictable. It was literally a case of taking out that tiny pull back exactly like this video explains and boom all my jabs starting getting through and infact worked out that you get a lot more snap from your jab and straight punches if you dont pull back. You soon realise that speed is power.
Wicked video man love if you could do more on head and body movement like you did on the bonus tip could just watch you hit the bag all day man 🔥🔥🔥🔥🥊
Thanks ,coach. We are fortunate to have your help. Very helpful indeed.
If u don’t mind, could u please share this vid on ya social media please. Will really help me out :) All good if not 👊🏻
Best boxing videos online hands down, ty Sir, my instructors have noticed that I'm getting better, all cuz of you, thank you!

Ty for posting this, Ive noticed that my punches has been kinda slow for the past few weeks and I didn't know the reason behind it.
Now that I know, I fixed it.
Now my punches is fast again.

Once again bro you came through with another great informative video🦾🦾🦾
Just came across your channel. Your videos are excellent. I trained when I was younger, now I’m 38 and just looking to get back into training just for my health’s sake. I’m looking forward to training my kids though.

Greetings from Brazil.
Always positives. So many people training at home during the pandemic. People like Tony giving us techniques, drills, and concepts to think about and work on independently. For free. For all the complaining we do (myself included), the modern world can be amazing. Thanks to people 🙌
On top of this killer video, Tony them shoes are so sick 😷 really enjoy learning from your videos they motivate me keep it up!
Ty coach Tony. You are helping me journey mate
You help me so much to improve my skills. Thanks
Love the shoes by the way! Also great tip. Im not a fighter but i always think about situations of fake telegraphing if a fight broke out.
Tony' s teachings are both educating and engaging. His accent and enthusiasm is what makes it fun for me to learn boxing and watch. Thanks for the tips Tony keep doing what you doing.
I appreciate that a lot ma friend!
Nice sir I've learned again...thank you💪💪💪
Really great video. I admit I sometimes do the bow and arrow routine with my rear hand.
Your a beast brother love these videos, I'm going to start working on it right away
Great video, alot of videos don't explain how to identify if you are doing something wrong and focus only on how to fix it
Great video!! I just got told yesterday by my coach i telegraph my jab slighty!💪🏻🥊
You are likely to be countered or your punch might not land mate
I started my boxing training a year ago, i gotta say that all the good advices You give with ur videos are almost the same that come from my trainer ;) So Thank You for that, i can watch your videos to recall myself good stuff instead of recording my trainer :D I gotta different question for ya, what kind of shoes are u wearing in this video? They're cool, i guess u can do 1-1,5h training session with them on? I wanna leave some rest my Box Hog's after a year ;)
Thank you Mr. Tony Jeffries. You are the best coach out here. Hands down, 💯
I appreciate it ma man
Thank you for the tips.
Thanks for this great video!
i didnt know i was doing it till i watched myself in the video specially with the right hook and the 2-thanks again tony
I learned something in one of your past videos, when it came to the lead hook to the body, I always knew when it was coming by the way my opponent slips to the outside then the lead hook to the body , so I figured my opponents would feel the same , so anyway I liked when you showed us a lead hook to the body, without dipping your head to the outside it was all hip rotation. And when I do that In sparring it was sneaky I was just being aware of my head in the air while my lead hand is punching the body. But I still slip to the outside to throw the lead hook sometimes too,0 I mix it up. There's also times where I will purposely telegraph another punch as a faint. But I think the importance of it is awareness as well.but I do 100percent agree with you and this video. I just wanted to share that. Thank you for all you do I appreciate you God bless bro
Great to hear that mate! Sounds like you got a great reflexes and reaction time too. Do you spar regularly?
Yes I've been training at home latly cuz the virus but I do have training partners meet up with me in my garage. Can't wait to get back to the gym though
Your way of teaching is too good, Really appreciate it.
that last tip... reminds me of of that one video i watch about fainting were there are two types and one is similar to the last time, moving, twitching the shoulder, sometimes moving the arms changing level of shoulder to be less predictable when punching and masking the load up of big punch...
Thank u...i learned lot from your videos...and i become slightly better on bag on sparring...and i improved my SPEED :))
Next thing I’m going to work on. Thanks Tony!
This is the best boxing channel on the internet
I absolutely love your videos Tony! 💚😁🥊 I ENJOY watching them so much! I've been going boxing for just over a year now and your videos have incredibly useful advice that NO ONE else shows us when we want to learn the amazing arts of BOXING! 🥊💯
That is awesome! and thanks for the message mate
Thanks Tony I’ve watched your videos and try to practice them all the time early in the morning,it’s the pop and stepping jab for me feels a little awkward but I’ll do a video to see
Also do you think a speed bag will help with the pop and jab ,I do have a heavy bag in my shed
Amazing videos mate!
Great pointers!
Thanks for the video, greatly appreciate it. Have had same feedback from my teacher, I'll get to practising to fix this problem.
This channel has it all lol thanks coach!!
Good stuff. Been boxing 5 years and I'm doing all the things I've seen in your videos correctly. You don't realize how much you've learned until you see an expert boxing. There's still more to learn though. ❤️
You helped with the explanation of sitting down on punches, where you're really just keeping knees and hips loose and not literally squatting as if you're about to sit in a chair.. and on making sure there's an imaginary line between your feet, so you can throw the right cross efficiently and not across your body
👍 Brilliant thanks Tony 💪
Love you videos mate
Hew Tony lad, these vids are class mate. Propa tips from a propa boxer
Dude I’m glad I found this channel …. I sit just got a new subscriber
God bless ya Tony I love your breakdowns 👏👏👏👏👌👌👌😇🙏

I'm 27 and just bought a bag. I have never boxed and I probably never will but I want to make sure while I exercise I'm doing it correctly and dont look like an idiot with bad habits. Thanks coach.
Pro tip: use that wind up as a feint to throw a delayed punch 👍🏽
That bonus tip was a gem

I appreciate that ma man, means a lot 🙏🏻
also , after you think about it, do it slowly over and over and increase speed... works with everything specially music
Thank u sir👍
You the man Tony 💪🥊
Thanks Jack ma man 👊👊
Thankyou coach❤
Good demonstration.
Thank you sir
Could you make a video on how to throw the perfect left hook or just a hook in general without any telegraph, power and speed.
Keep up with the content can’t miss a Tony Jeffries video 👍
Thanks so much, these are so great tips. I have heard someone said throwing a hook required to fully extend the chest before punches, such as throwing the right hook, it needs to twist the body to the left before throwing a hook. Does it a telegraphing punch regarding this?
I have started boxing at 40 these videos have really helped
W vid needed this
I started with boxing because of you today will be my 20th day in boxing im learning good but i have problems with legs movement ! May you gauid me for things which make my body flexible and legs . Thank you so much 😊
