It was THIS battle that cemented the Swiss Guard in the history books (and it was ALSO what made the Pope make them the PERMANENT bodyguards to the Vatican).
They have actually been revarded for their work of teaching history. And there are more and more teachers now that use their material at schools ❤
Sure do... theyre songs are perfect for exams... you print some of the lyrics and ask the students to interprete the song using theyre history knowledge
I wish my school used Sabaton 😢😂
Agreed
Yepp.😊 My cousin uses their music and videos in her lessons. She finds that it helps introducing events and chapters to her students.
@@timbackman5915 thats a smart damn teacher
Sabaton are masters of putting a 'vibe' into a song, to suit the occasion. So this song has a very 'holy' vibe. As far as the live show, they put a tank on the stage at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Great show!
This is a great way to describe Sabaton a strength. Stormtroopers has the perfect vibe of hitting fast and hard, dreadnought and Bismarck have the slower vibe of a big lumbering ship, Great War and TEOTWTEAW Have my favorite vibe of just the grand scale of war and the sheer horror humans are capable of unleashing.
@@Roach_Dogg_JR I had to do mental gymnastics there for a sec with TEOTWTEAW but then I realized and I agree
@@SpinoMedia yeah I was just too lazy to write that all out Lolol
That was a great show, I loved it!
You know someone is truly a hero when Sabaton makes a song about them
We need more Sabaton more often! There is so much to check out. The Red Baron could be cool for you to check out next as it is a little different and quite inspired by Deep Purple
But they shall do the animated story version.
That's right, very Deep Purple MK 2🤘
✝️⚔️🇨🇭🇸🇪⚔️✝️
Sabaton is amazing live! Not only do they have fun on stage, but having the entire crowd singing along with those catchy choruses is something to truly experience.
They love interacting with the crowd saw them twice I'm hooked on their music
Not really a podcast... they have The Sabaton History Channel where there are episodes giving you a deeper dive into the historical stories they sing about! Often, a band member sits in w the host for further discussion.
Glad you chose to check out a live performance...Sabaton puts on a great concert...tons of energy!
This was about the defense of the Vatican against soldiers of the Holy Roman Emperor (an army of which was sacking Rome at the same time). Most of the Swiss Guard made a last stand to buy time for the Pope to escape to the Castel Sant'Angelo.
SABATOOOOON! I love these guys SO much!!! Saw them live in October and they ABSOLUTELY put on a KILLER show! SO tight, Joakim's vocals are fantastic even live, if you have the chance to go to one of their shows DO IT! Theyre so so good at just that fist-pumping, headbanging feel good metal.
Iam Swedish and i love Sabaton so much. I have been on many concerts to se them. Thanks for your reactions ❤
Happened to see them perform live just about a week ago. Totally awesome. You can indeed learn a lot from the stories they tell. And the stage performance is very storytelling as well. If you get the chance, you should definitely go and see them. And I'd love to see you do more Sabaton reactions as well ;-)
saw them too, in Antwerp,it was truly awesome🤘🤘🤘
If you want to hear another Sabaton song that just sounds different, I'd recommend "To Hell and Back", about Audie Murphy. A metal song that sounds like it belongs in a western movie, which was so good that Audie Murphy's descendants congratulated them on finally making a song about him that wasn't sad.
Saw them live in April and this song was on the setlist, it was a banger!!!!
When I got my cross rifles on my chest at Fort Benning, this was the song they played at honor Hill when we were handing our cross rifles. I didn’t even know the band at the time, but it brings back some really good memories.
My son loves them and he also loves history he would love to see them live
Sabatons "great war" is a majestic song I highly recommend! Or as someone has already mentioned; En livstid i krig (live in gothenburg). But you can't really go wrong with Sabaton
Love how their songs make you go research history to understand them. Totally great way to connect with the lessons of the past.
Great job guys! Keep it up! 🤘🤘
I'm french and in english class, when i was 17 yo, to learn more about the civil war in Ireland my teacher used Zombie from The Cranberries it was absolutly perfect, fun and so easy to learn!
I'm a huge fan of Sabaton since i went to college (2 years ago) and i would have liked more history class if our teacher used sabaton's songs (but u know a lot of french student doesnt like learning english so..)
Anyway, great reaction, hope seeing more of Sabaton reaction! 👌
I love Sabaton and I love how you also like them.
I would highly recommend the song ,,No bullets fly" with the animated story video.
Brings me to tears every time I'm watching it.
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
i get goosebumps listening to this one.
They played at Poland Woodstock in 2012 and it's a show I would recommend watching if you can, it will show just how great they are with the crowds, they started playing 40:1 and rolled a ridiculously large Polish flag out of the stage
I recommend listening to "En livstid i krig" by Sabaton, since it's in Swedish do not forget to turn on the subtitles!
Video named " SABATON - En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg) ".
Great reaction guys! If you want to see a really epic Sabaton Live video you need to check out SABATON - En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg). That is so good and emotional. It is in swedish so captions need to be on. 14000 hardcore Sabaton fans singing their hearts out! EPIC!
189 Swiss Guard mercenaries laid down their lives to ensure that Pope Clement VII made it to Castel Saint Angelo. 189 mercenaries saw their contract through. That is dedication to keeping your word
I'VE LOVED THEY"RE HEAVY METAL HISTORY... I'M SO IMPRESSED THAT
THAT WHAT A TIME WE'RE LIVING IN...
FREEDOM AND ROCK ON:))))✌
What a great song.. I can learn historical while vibin the song from Sabaton
I love that key change close to the end :D
Great reaction, guys!🤘 They're awesome live! I've seen them 3 times and now I'm addicted... 😄 They have a lot of official live videos with good audio quality.
Btw, check out "Lion from the North" (music video from the Great Tour. It's the studio version but the footage is from the Great Tour in Europe 2020.)
That "kid", Tommy Johansson, is actually 36 years old...😁 But he looks young. He has his own UA-cam channel, where he releases covers, metal versions of well known songs. He's an amazing singer, producer and musician. Extremely talented! He's also lead singer in his own band, Majestica. I highly recommend them. 😉
Love Sabaton for years !! But I must say .. to find Tommy Johansson in that group and realizing everything else he’s done has proven to be an absolutely wonderful “Sabaton Easter Egg” 🔥 Tommy has fast become my favorite artist 😝. Needless to say .. completely agreeing with this recommendation ☀️
Saw them live a month ago and they where awesome!
Amaranthe and Sabaton my favourite bands of all time!!!
I actually talked to a guy, IRL, that openly mocked Sabaton for this song. He was convinced that the song was about the crusades and would not believe me when I corrected him on what it was about. Tried showing him other songs so he would understand that Sabaton is about, but he was just too set in his ways and kept coming back to his initial argument. Too far gone, if you will.
Sounds like he was on a bit of a crusade himself.
@@deffdefying4803 ba-dum-tss :)
Love this one
When someone says metal is the root of all evil ill show em this
For gentlemen from America, I recommend a song - the last battle. The Last Battle of American Forces in World War II. And one of the strangest battles of World War II. They don't talk about her in school. And they should.
Hearing this live was AMAZING. The place was electric when he sang “in the name of god”. I am not traditionally religious, but it was some stunning vocals
it's one thing if a song makes you feels amazing. HOWEVER. IF A SONG MAKES YOU INSTANTLY BE PATRIOTIC OR IN THIS CASE, CHRISTIAN. you know your listening to *sabaton* then.
They are unbiased but its a pleasure to see how they recognised my ancestors for standing up for the native way of life🇨🇭⚔️✝️
Sacrifice, death and glory 😤 👏 🥲
I've only been to 3 concerts in my life. If one of those wasn't to Paul McCartney they would easily be number one but man did I have fun seeing them. I lost my voice for three days. Also I got to meet them on a meet and greet the same day before the concert and they're so so cool.
Another great track.
Speaking of the Christmas Truce, Garth Brooke's did a song on it about 20 years ago.
Sabaton is my best history teacher.
I first heard this song in a anime mv and I didn’t know at the time it was sabaton a band I would later really like
Four years more and will be 500 years of The Last Stand!!!.... Will be a great moment to go to Vatican an put the song of Sabaton....in the commemoration. Viva Cristo Rey.
Something from Woodstock poland next?
bro, the guy you called kid is tommy johansson, probably the worlds most talented musical talent. Noone can play instruments as he does. Just search on tommy johansson covers like aces high iron maiden when he rekt iron maiden so hard, and he even play all those instruments by himself and did it so well. He is a living legend bro
Your daughter has incredible good taste.
They are epic live. Try "En livstid I krig" at Gothenburg for example
Everytime i listen to theyre swedish songs i get sad that i dont understand swedish. Even though its familiar to german, understanding it is just impossible.
You should even look at No bullets fly (animated), it has a really nice ending (the history behind the song), 1916, The night witches, and more.
Im just laughing at "The Last Stand! Sounds...triumphant." You do do know what a last stand is, right? 😂
Amazing song!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
SHORT FACTS:
The outnumbered Swiss Guards, protectors of the Vatican, stood against an invading horde during the sack of Rome in 1527, Giving their lives so the Pope could escape...
The song is based on the perspective of those people,.
& how driven & Loyal they were to their faith in order to sacrifice their lives...
-It's very Deep❤
In highscool i had a history teacher that would use metal music as part of her class
My family visited the vatican last year you can still see the blood stains on the steps
she will love sabaton lady of the dark animated story video
Such a powerful song..!
❤👏❤️👏❤️👏
It gives an idea of how religion of the time was such a powerful driveforce to fire up the troops...^^
Live Sabaton is EPIC go see them they are CRAZY
Uprising Live. Man, that song live is about as epic as it can get. En Livstid I Krieg, as well. live.
I hope that Sabaton will make a song about War for Vukovar one day
I am a PIAS man no temptation shall stray me.....
live is the best they bring the power get to a show
Awesome to hear this already :). Big hug from Sweden. Plz do a react on ARN movie after this ARN IS LIKE THE ULTIMATE crusader movie . About a child that gets promised to the church by its family and faith and gets trained as a nordic christian warriormonk and after promised fulfilled gets exciled into holy land due to internal politics and corrupt laws. Then end up as a castle lord in the holy land and ultimately return to his beloved woman.
Nice reaction! You should do a reaction to Dan Vasc's cover of this! He's absolutely amazing!
Sir can we please have more?
IN THE NAME OF GOD 🙌🙌🙌
That kid who looks like 15 i Thommy Johansson.. He is a awsome vocalis and you should watch his covers... start with 1 octave challenge of "You raise me up", and you will get blown a way..🇸🇪🇸🇪🤟
If you want to hear the best Sabaton song not written by Sabaton, try Nanowar of Steel's “Pasadena 1994“ which sounds eerily similar to this song but is about the Soccer World Cup final held in Pasadena in 1994. It is hilarious and very Sabaton at the same time.
I like to refer to Sabaton as 'Valor Metal'.
check out Tommy Johansson and his covers. he is the guitarist you thought looked like 15. He is multitalented
If you guys like to see more of Sabaton loveconcerts then you must see En livstid i krig Live from Gothenburg 😁
If you haven't already/yet, I'd recommend these history lessons by Sabaton:
Attack of the Dead Men
Great War
Stormtroopers
That Kid IS Tommy Johansson...look him Up to hear his amazing voice. O holy Night, ave María..etc. He decided to leave The band last weekend.
Sweden is a very secular contry.
this is true history, this really did happen.
they are modern bards
Oh, you have to see them life! Watch theor life of en ligstid I Krig or Woodstock in poland 2012. You'll love it!!!
Kinda difficult to "pick a side" in this conflict though, since it was christians on christians violence. And I guess they chose the Swiss Guards because well what they did was a big sacrifice.
Either way, most Swedes are protestants, and not catholics, and that is probably true even at this period of time, when the reform was taking place. So technically, Sabaton are praising the "enemy" in this song.
Anyway, I agree, they are great at not picking sides, and whoever claims that they do needs to learn to listen without those prejudice hearing aids they are wearing.
Keep up the good reactions :)
To Hel and Back. also Primo Victoria(D-DAY)
The last battle (similar title but vastly different song.) Most insane story, watch the sabaton history after explaining the song. You will loose it.
I despise everything religion, chorch or god. But they did an incredible job with this song.
If you like parodies, there's a band called NanoWar who did a Sabaton-style video/song about the 1994 FIFA World Cup Championship game. It's called Pasadena 1994. It uses some Sabaton lines, like the reference to Castel Sant Angelo, some Sabaton riffs, and the Sabaton lead singer.
First time I heard this song I considered to be a catholic...Im an atheist....
I guess my comments isnt appriciated rofl.
