    I guess what I am trying to put into perspective is, I often hear people say that since the changes they have gone from eating 2 to 5 eggs for breakfast because they are “zero point foods” and I ask them would they have had that portion amount if they were on the old plan and they say “ no because they used to be 2 points each” it makes me wonder what’s changed (still the same eggs, same calories,same meal) Just because they are “zero point foods” doesn’t mean you have to have in excess! It’s that old saying of “just because you can doesn’t mean you should” 😃 I’m all for having everything in moderation, if I want a Maccy D’s il have it but il also think about the rest of the day and make healthier choices around it! It’s all about balance and I think WW wanted to give people the freedom and flexibility to make smarter choices and in turn it will help and make you far more likely to be able to maintain your weight once at goal. I also understand this plan won’t suit everybody because it requires more thought, restraint and temptation dodging...but I’m here to support in any way I can ✌🏼 All the love x

      This was my issue, eating too much chicken and fish and not losing consistently. I went back to the green plan but felt it was too much tracking so back to blue with better portions and it's so much better!

    WW needs to revamp their points system before I consider re-joining. Way too many zero point foods and causing lots of people to be unsuccessful and therefore quit. Like me!

    I am at goal but I lost my weight (24 lbs) doing original Smart Points. Even then I had to tweak the program, having less than the 30 points per day. I hear what you are saying about Freestyle and maybe there are some ppl not realizing they are overdoing the 0 pt foods but I think most ppl realize 0 doesn't mean 0 calories. I think the program creates confusion by having these fake 0 pt foods, like chicken, beans, eggs. Yes, broccoli and cauliflower and spinach, I would say they are 0, but not beans, eggs, etc. A diet shouldn't be so confusing.

    I think people also need to understand that you want to base your meal around the zero point food then add points to the zero points INSTEAD of seeing what you can eat for the points and just add zero points. If that makes sense?
    How I do my program is:
    Vegetables are UNLIMITED
    Fruit:1-2 servings per day
    Legumes: 1 serving per day (I don’t have every day)
    Protein: 1 serving per meal (3oz)
    I’ve been trying to use points for additions to my meal- croutons, nut butters etc

    I so agree with all you said. I’ve lost 65 pounds since starting the new program. My only goals every day is to blue dot , not go over, exercise and only use my weeklies sparingly not every week ( the last time I went into my weeklies was my husband’s birthday in September). I eat a lot of zero point foods consisting mainly of veggies and fruits. I try to leave 5-6 points a day on my tracker., I figure with the zero point foods but not zero calories I eat they add up to the amount of calories I want to consume a day. I keep a calorie journal and I write down all the calories I eat (if eating out I try to guess). I’ve noticed my food choices I make have been so much healthier. Thank you for sharing

    I have my old slider, and use it. Boom. Losing weight. You have to have a calorie deficit. Eat one recommended serving of a zero point food and drink some water wait 10 minutes then if you are still hungry ... eat one recommended serving, drink some water waiting 10 minutes.... so on until you are satiated...

    I dont think a lot of people are making a mistake at all, it is WW that has made the mistake, if people were educated enough they could lose weight on their own and save their money. The point of paying for WW to give you an allocated point system is to make calorie control simple by points which I guess is easier than calories for lots of people. By allowing zero points for things like chicken and egg which have a lot of calories in them just entices people to overeat, if people were doing the calories in the first place they would have no need for WW. If WW wants to help people make better choices they should make a chicken breast a lower point value than the equivalent red meat etc. You cant expect people to look up the calorie content of foods (zero calories or otherwise) when using WW, it defeats the whole point a points system.

    • @NatashaSummer
      @NatashaSummer  5 років тому

      Charlotte Taylor totally get what you’re saying hun and I actually agree that it’s a little confusing and in some cases can appear to defeat the purpose BUT in saying that I think they wanted to promote freedom and flexibility so people actually educate themselves on point values and calories and in doing so it makes any weight loss more sustainable once you get to goal...I can see it from both sides but I do get you 🧡 x

    • @NatashaSummer
      @NatashaSummer  5 років тому +1

      Also WW did used to have a point system where nothing apart from certain fruits and veg was free. So you had to point chicken regardless but I think they wanted to encourage people to opt for the healthier alternatives by making them more enticing as they are labled “free” but in some cases it has had the reverse effect and people are over indulging where it isn’t healthy and necessary

    • @charlottetaylor9867

      @@NatashaSummer Thanks Natasha, I just think if people were educated we wouldnt need WW. I imagine they will have a lot of people fail because as you said they will eat the free foods and then consume their allocated points on top. I was thinking about signing up and I think I understand the basics of weight loss/calories and macros pretty well but wanted something less taxing than logging everything in my fitness pal and reading the back of food labels but when i saw this new freestyle system I decided against it, most of the foods I eat for main meals would be considered zero points anyway so following that system I would stay the same and I have a bit to lose. I did WW years ago when as you say the free points where the items you couldnt over eat like veg. For instance 7 carrots would be around the same amount of calories as 1 chicken breast and most people would struggle to eat 7 carrots as a snack but 1 chicken breast would be easy. I bet at some point they re evaluate and change the items from zero to just less than the unhealthier equivalent.

    Natasha, this issue about calories is all over on Connect recently and I am tracking points and started tracking calories with the Lose It! app. Eye opening and I will continue to double track. Also, I rarely use weekly points, never use fit points, and turned off the feature to rollover points. I am sticking to 23 points a day and because I need to lose, tracking 1150 calories a day. So far for the last 10 days it is working, but had a bad food choice over the weekend (still within my points and calories) and gained .8, it will not beat me up and I am working at it every day for the rest of my life!

    You’re absolutely accurate in your analogy... too many calories in than burned or even the same calories in as burned will only maintain. Losing requires a deficit of calories in than burned! The new point system is very suggestive that you can eat more!!!! Although I really like some of the meal prep plans I see on WW bloggers channels, I’ll use those but I think I’ll just stick with my lose it app. It’s structured really well. Enjoyed your opinion. Have a great day.

    I know all this, but this sort of means I need to count calories and points and I don't want to do both. I just want to track and have a clear picture of what I have eaten and what I have left that I can eat. Most people on WW are not in maintenance mode and have a lot of weight to lose and need to know boundaries, most don't need this much freedom. I did great on the previous program but there's too many gray areas now. A lot of us need black and white... need a clearer definition of boundaries. What you say makes total sense but probably speaking, hard to follow.

    • @NatashaSummer
      @NatashaSummer  5 років тому

      Yeah, I totally get you, Susan, it's definitely not easy for sure. The way I see it is that it's not a diet to me and I look at it more as a lifestyle choice which makes it far less daunting and sustainable. I also get what you're saying about people wanting less freedom when they feel like they have so much to lose...I guess its a matter of preference, I was far stricter when I was trying to lose as opposed to now where I am still mindful but not as restricting now I am 9 stone dead on...coming from 12st 2 it feels strange to change the mindset but I have found it key for me x

    I just joined weight watchers because I wanted to clean up my diet and hopefully lose about 10 pounds (I’m starting at not really overweight, just not ideal for me). It’s my first week and so far I haven’t lost any weight but I want to give it time. I was counting calories on My Fitness Pal before joining WW, but had been slacking off. I was hoping the WW app would simplify things. Somewhat frustrated now because what I’m hearing is that I really need to be counting points AND calories, because 0 point foods could potentially cause me to gain weight😕

    On the flip side of that, my problem is if I don’t eat enough zero point foods and I eat all pointed foods, I don’t get enough calories (usually around 900) and I don’t lose. I feel they are forcing you to eat a certain way. Not everyone likes chicken, beans, eggs, corn and yogurt.

  • @mz12390

    I m trying to get as much info abt ww as i can as i m considering to join. What i understand is, if they have added to the zero point food list, they have also reduced the overall target points for everyone and they have increased the point value of food with fats for example whole milk, butter etc. Nobody can just boil the chicken breast and keep eating that. Nobody can keep eating boiled eggs. You still do have to account for the carbs and the oil you cook your food in and even a little amount will make you reach your points target fairly quickly even if the oil is used to cook the zero food in. Besides, there is always an incentive to save your points for that weekend cheat meal. I feel that the new system is amazingly balanced even though i havent tried it as yet.

    Great video explains very well 👍🏻 Weight Watchers has changed but I think for the better you just have to think what you put into your mouth it’s all calories as you say in your video 💕 I think Weight Watchers is not a diet anymore just makes you think about eating healthy options you lose weight slower so you can maintain once you get to your goal 😍 Watch your videos all the time I think they’re great just wish I could do it just don’t like being in front of a camera xxx

      Thanks so much Kim, I agree it has changed for the better, its much more focused on making the right choices and not satisfying a quick fix. So happy you enjoy my content babe, and you should make videos...I love doing it x

    Hi, I voted for the video because I was interested to see why it wouldn’t work! I’ve been on WW only as it is now and it’s working just fine for me. The things I would love to eat to excess aren’t zero points ie bread, cakes, chocolate etc so I’m safe! The zero points stuff just bulks up my daily allowance a bit.
    Have you found that people who are struggling to lose weight are the ones who went from the old system to the new one? Maybe the change is what went wrong for those people? 🤷🏻‍♀️
    I think if you’re eating anything to excess then you need to address that problem even if it is something like fruit.
    When I started I asked a coach about the zero foods as I couldn’t believe it was true!! I looked all over the website for some small print that said only 3 items per day off the zero point list!! But no...they are really ‘free’ according to WW. It’s a bit misleading but it’s worked for me so I’m not complaining just a pity for those who haven’t made it work. WW should give more guidance around these ‘zero’ foods.
    Great video as per usual 👍😊

      Thanks for watching and voting babe, the polls really help me out content wise. I completely agree with you. Although in saying that I used to use the old system and I have not struggles with the changes at all. For me it all comes down to having a little bit of a think, I have heard people say they have gone from 2 to 5 eggs for breakfast because they are zero points and I ask them if they did that on the old plan and they say "no because they used to be 2 points each" That really tells me all I need to know, I also wonder what people think has really changed (just because they are no called Zero Point foods they are still the same eggs as the old plan, same calories) I think that's the big issue, people are binging on the zero point foods in addition to dailies and weeklies and then wonder what went wrong. It must be so frustrating to think you're following a plan and not seeing any results, I think that is where you have hit the nail on the head, WW should have put some work-shops or videos together to explain things (saying that people are free to use the app to chat with the WW advisors and ask the Qs, that's what I did). If not I hope this is where this video can fill in a few blanks and help people out. I think it's all about balance, WW want to give people more freedom, choose the right foods and eat what you need... not overeat and be reckless, I think you're right and it can come down the the actual problems and attitudes / relationships with food. I also don't think (because of all of this) it will be the plan for everyone because you need to think more about the long term game and not the quick fixes. xx

    • @helengreen5735
      @helengreen5735 5 років тому

      Natasha Summar it’s interesting that you say that some people may have gone from 2 eggs pre-change to 5 post-change at breakfast as an example, but I have gone from my normal eating habits (ie not good!) to this WW plan so even with the zero points food I’ve had to make some big changes. On the other hand, going from the old plan to this plan there must be a danger of binging for people who struggle with overeating and binging. It’s easier said than done but people who have been overeating the zero points foods probably should recognise that’s the problem because when they get to goal they could end up piling on the weight again. I think it’s clever of WW to design a plan like this that does make you address any unhealthy eating habits, it’s like they give you a bit of a challenge to see if you can control yourself around food. If you can’t even control yourself around zero point foods then that’s something important you learned so it’s a good thing. (When I say ‘you’ I don’t mean you Natasha 😂 I mean anyone!!) x

    • @NatashaSummer
      @NatashaSummer  5 років тому +1

      Helen Green totally agree and that’s why I say that this plan won’t be for everyone because it requires more restrain and again thinking about the longer game so your mind is already trained for you to be able to maintain. I also agree that WW should put support for ppl in place who emotionally eat or struggle with their relationship with food. I am all for everything in moderation, if I want a burger I will have it...I just don’t have them all of the time. I know this is all easier said than done but I think they wanted to give ppl more freedom x

    Good Morning Natasha! It's 7 am here. I agree with you 1000%. If I had a nickel for every time I said 0 points do not mean 0 calories, I could come and visit and stay in a 5 star hotel for at least a month. In just these last 2years approximately, I have lost 105 pounds, gotten back to goal and lifetime status, so it can be done. This pound gain or so, I would have to go look at my book and I am not feeling like going out to my car to go get it. Was I surprised at first, yes, until I thought about it. I didn't exercise nearly as much as I normally do. I ate far more carbs than I normally do and I had a very large Carby week. I will never cut out a food group. I just cut back. Look at the quality of foods you are eating. My mom used to say you can lose weight eating 1000 calories of Hershey bars. While that may be true for A While, you aren't feeding your body what it needs nutritionally. It will catch up with you rather quickly and the scale goes in the wrong direction. What happens? You get mad and quit blaming the program and not yourself for your lousy choices. For anyone reading this look back at your prior journals with a clear head. Look to see what you have been doing both good and bad. Fix the bad choices by changing what you do in the future. Weigh and measure your food. You can eyeball your measurements but your measurements get bigger with time. You will start gaining. Again your fault, not the program. My best piece of advice, I learned the hard way. DO NOT stop tracking. When I made goal the first time, after a while I did. I got cocky and thought I could do it on my own. I can't. I gained back 75 pounds of the original 220 I lost. My first time at WW I weighed 350 pounds. This time around my start weight was 220. I weigh 115. I am Midway through my healthy weight range. Don't make the mistakes so many others including myself have made. Also, when you are reading this, I have been using WW off and on for 17 years. I have seen many plans come and go. This one, is the best I have seen and used.

    • @NatashaSummer

      You are so right Michelle, and when I got to goal it was your message that reminded me to keep pointing regardless and as a result I have not only maintained my weight but I have lost a further 7lb and I am happier and healthier than ever. I think its is so important to have balance and give your body a lot of what it needs and a little of what you fancy, it makes the whole think much more practical and sustainable. Thanks so much for always saying what needs to be said. You're on an amazing journey and have done SO well x

    Great video Natasha. I’ve been doing WW on and off since I got married nearly 20 years ago and have seen lots of changes over the years. I’ve never massively overeaten, generally slip to a BMI of around 28 and then I try to rain things back in. My husband is naturally thin and has seen my struggle to maintain my weight over the years, it always surprises him how easily I put weight on and how hard I find it to lose it again. I’m only 5ft tall and naturally curvy (a proper hourglass) - there’s definitely an element to weight loss that’s genetic in my opinion. I have read lots on this and I think there’s much to be said for the endomorph, ectomorphs etc. I was always a slow loser on the old system 1lb off a week if I’m lucky, it’s early days yet on this programme so I will not judge yet, although I definitely agree about it encouraging you to think more about what foods you’re reaching for, I’m eating more fruit which is good for me. Sorry for the long post and good luck to everyone on this journey. X

      Aww you're so lovely Michelle, I agree and I do think genetics can play a part and metabolism too, I mean our bodies change all of the time and so many factors can play a part, tiredness and stress etc. I think it all about knowing what works well for you and your body. Sometimes just accepting that this is you're body and as long as you do you're best and eat things that will nourish you inside that's all that matters. I am a massive advocate of everything in moderation n, if you want the burger have it...just not everyday, I think accepting reality and not being too hard on yourself is of key importance. It's not just about being kind to you're body but your mind and mental health too x

    Very true, I'm afraid. I had a really hard time when my points went down to 23. I went into rebellion mode and next thing you know I was a regular at the Greek street food place and sneaking chocolate. It was a "me problem." When I fill up on fruit and veg all the time the program miraculously starts working again. I have to make the mental commitment. So much of it is mental, isn't it? You look amazing, I love that top. 😍

      Yea I totally agree babe and it is very easy and to be expected to have both good and bad days but you're doing incredibly well. I think again its all about making smarter choices and letting points roll over if you're full, not consuming everything in excess :) Thanks again for watching and always being so lovely Martha x

    Glad you brought this up everything as a calorific value I’ve noticed if I have too many carbs or even bananas I struggle to lose weight .

    • @NatashaSummer
      @NatashaSummer  5 років тому +1

      Happy you found it useful babe, I think it will be really useful for people to check calorie value if they are struggling because everything has a value to it regardless of whether it is healthy or not. I can see how it can be confusing though so I thought I would make a video on it as its a common issue I think some do face. Thanks for watching Pauline x

    It is about taking some control yourself and making smarter choices. I DO despair at the naivety of some though. Thank you for the explanation . Great video

      Amanda Spencer yes I agree, I am quite lucky in the way I have a lot of self discipline. But I can see why some people may be confused by it 🥰 Hope you’re well babe x

    You are right. I’ve just started back and you could literally eat a load on free food and then eat the points on top of it.

    • @NatashaSummer
      @NatashaSummer  5 років тому

      Giu Connolly yeah and if you think about it in that sense it’s seems absurd. I’ve heard people say they are going from 2 to 5 eggs for breakfast because they are “free” and I ask if they would do that on the old system and they say “no because they used to be 2 points each” it makes me wonder what people think has changed when it comes to the calorie value? Just because WW day zero points doesn’t mean increase your serving unnecessarily 😘 Thanks for watching x

  • @RedsMakeupBag
    @RedsMakeupBag 5 років тому +1

    The zero-point system has been really helpful for me, but then again I’ve only just started using it so I never had the old system to compare it to. I really wanted to learn about healthier choices as part of my weight loss so for me it’s been great!
    (Also, Tom says hi) x

    • @NatashaSummer
      @NatashaSummer  5 років тому +1

      Hey Tom!! Yea I really like the system but I wasn't overly in love with the old one. It was fine but I welcomed the change and can see the benefits for it, then again I have good self discipline so I didn't see it as unwanted temptation if that makes sense? Happy the plan is working for you Alice x

    Actually, a few past plans ago you could role offer a certain amount of points, from memory 3 points or something like that.
