BBC Two! There's so much we can do!
IMPORTANT NOTE: This video will not include EVERY single variant. I decided to add my favorite variants, including variants included in other logo histories on BBC Two, because if I added every variant, then it would be unwatchable.
Not so long ago, BBC celebrated its centenary. I decided to do logo histories on the main BBC channels (BBC One, Two, Three, and Four). I might do a logo history on CBBC in the foreseeable future.
BBC Two is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network owned and operated by the BBC. It covers a wide range of subject matter, with a remit "to broadcast programs of depth and substance" in contrast to the more mainstream and popular BBC One.
Originally styled BBC2 (1964-1997), it was the third British television station to be launched (starting on 21st April 1964), and from 1 July 1967, Europe's first television channel to broadcast regularly in color.
Memorable shows that aired on BBC Two include: Monty Python's Flying Circus, Mock the Week, Top Gear, The Office (with legendary comedian Ricky Gervais), and Bottom.
My next logo history will be on BBC Three, which will include BBC Choice.

I’m a teenager from Wisconsin, so I don’t exactly have any memories of BBC 2. But those ‘90s idents are genuinely beautiful. They have such a unique aesthetic that I find so calming and oddly nostalgic. I don’t know who made them, but whoever they are they did a masterful job.
This 2 has a lot of personality.
That's why one of the ident sets is called the Personality 2's

The 90's idents is probably one of the best idents ever made in British television. Circles from BBC One is perhaps a close second, followed by Channel Four's Floating 4.
Agreed. One of my favorite television ident series of all time, to be honest.
Amazing ident history of BBC Two, Jonty! BBC Two has a lot of great and memorable idents for people that watched the channel in the UK, and I like the idents from 1991-2001 the best! The Paint ident is the most memorable ident from BBC Two, as it's the first ident from the set (1991-2001) to air, and seeing that blue paint splash against an "2" is satisfying to watch. Not only that, but it's also creative, as they rotated the camera 90° to look like that paint is falling sideways! Also, the music in the 1991-2001 idents is nice to listen to.

The 2018 idents, while not as good as the 1991 idents, and even though people may see the idents as bland, they are really creative and, overall, a great successor.
Thanks again, Man! Absolutely agreed. The Paint ident is very creative, and they used clever techniques for most of the 1991-2001 idents. The diary ident (which wasn't shown due to the reason in the description) was filmed with only one page flying away, but they actually looped it so it looked like multiple pages were flying. They were originally going to make more than one page fly away without looping, but the strings got tangled.
The 2018 idents are quite nice and are very psychedelic. Stay tuned for my ident history on BBC Three.
I'm so glad you chose to use the remote control car from the 90s idents for the video thumbnail, as this was my first TV ident in childhood.

i never realised BBC2 had so many variations, a few i remember from when i was younger when i used to play in the living room
For some reason they used to use a handful of them ALL the time and rarely used the majority of them. Seemed to defeat the point of making them all, to be honest!

Is it wrong to feel kinda nostalgic for channels you haven't even watched? The first time I've known of BBC was through PBS. Anyway, if BBC doesn't bring back the 1991 idents for their 60th anniversary I might riot.

Those idents are an absolute classic in British television. Martin Lambie-Nairn was a genius.
@@JontyMaster I remember one evening in the early 2002 they showed how they created some of those bbc2 indents. It was very clever.

As an American living in Ireland in the 90’s..we got the BBC there and I always loved the idents at that time on BBC 2.
Very cool! As a New Zealander who has been part of the logo community since the late 2010s, I can definitely say that those idents are probably one of my favorite British idents of all time.

7th logo the best. Britpop logo for BBC2 in a way. The coolest logo and helped BBC2 with its chunky '2' a cool channel. its Friday night comedies, documentries, totp2, old classic cult shows reshown became popular again and its occasional theme nights were all required viewing in those vhs days of old.
The fanfare from the first BBC 2 ident is Morse code for B-B-C-2

I love how you put in the BBC2 idents from the colour strike, so you can see that they was ment to be in colour but was made in to black and white. The engineer's did them right over😂 and it never really affected the public cause 95% only had a black and white tv anyway so they didn't care. It affected BBC and ITV massively.
