Thomas Happ makes the whole game - okay - but why is the music one of the best soundtracks ever? Like let's say Thomas Happ was just the composer/sound engineer - he'd still get so much credit - but then he develops the whole game? The music has no business being this good.

I love how the music was in sync with the game, like the backgrounds wiggling in beat with the music, and the beeping when you have low health. Never experienced that before.
Trace rising is my favorite. That first boss fight was like crack. It harkened me back to the NES days, you had simple controls, one type of gun, and only skill keeping you from death.
look up Axiom Verge 2 OST. Listen to all of it. You're going to find some extremely beautiful stuff. The vocals in the ost are literally perfect, and not one word is said.
I could see it happening. The ending could be taken as foreshadowing that we learn of why trace originally grew to genocidal tendancies and ultimately defeated Sudra. Would be fun to play the bad guy side of things for a change.

Apocalypse is freaking so epic, even though it reminds me of a Pokemon Legendary Theme (it would be perfect for Deoxys, though Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire did a good job on the new one). Anyway, it's fucking awesome. Other tracks are awesome too.
I always thought Inexorable was a cool shift from the rest of the music, like it's refreshing when you arrive in that brown tunnel after spending hours in other places. It's really different to the other OST in the game and that's why I like it- it's a breath of fresh air, no matter how intoxicating a breath it may be.
It's that down tone, chant beat, with that beautiful melody over the piano! Plus that very catchy dark riff. Definitely one of the best tracks with Inexorable.
46:51 Occlusion and Occlusion Lens are real good. Not seen many comments about them so thought I'd shout it out. Love when you get to part 2 of E-Kur-Mah and the track switches and the drums kick in. Also 53:18 Without Place is a proper bop.

Geez. The intro track has a surprising amount of bass in it. I love it. I haven't played this game at all, having only watched playthroughs, but I really should pick it up. I'm looking forward to seeing a sequel in the future, even if it's another 5 years.
I've started to playing this game about 2 days ago; it impressed me in so many factors, i'm on hard and the bosses are really challenging, the first one i have zero deaths and i feel so compensated, god, it was THE fight; and afterwards i stepped on "inexorable" (24:22) and i "WTF THIS SONG AMAZEN". Great OST (i'm a big fan and researcher of soundtracks), great game, still have to finish it ♥
Why do I not see Amnesia getting any praise? Not only is it quite possibly my second-favorite track (after The Axiom), but it got remixed into a good number of tracks in the 2nd game, as well. Phosphene also seems underrated.
I Really wanted to like this game but i just couldnt...not sure if it was the ugly graphics, each level looking too similiar with jus a change in color, the same enemies, the main hero being a dude in a labcoat with a lobster gun? Just nowhere near as cool as Super Metroid...nonetheless I loved the music

Mostly the issue, I think, it's its pretty easy to get lost or not be sure where to go just as you get to Kur (the area Inexorable plays in), so imagine entering and leaving the area a bunch as you're trying to figure out where you need to go next, and every time you enter Kur you get that opening "Neeeeedadadadadadah..." Just listening to the song, it's not that bad, but if you leave Kur going south, you'll not get far before you run into a gated jump preventing you from going back, so you *just* heard it, and now here you are again "NEEEEEEEEEDADADADADADADAH..." Then you go north and get the much smoother-starting Cellular Skies. But then you run into more stuff you have trouble getting past, so you head back down, and right back into "NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDADADADADAH..." You're already frustrated because you're lost, and now every time you come back here, you get another blast of it. To make matters worse, your very likely going to be using a respawn egg that's *in* Kur at this point, so every time you die, you awaken to yet another "NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDADADADADADADADAH..." I personally like the song, but only now that I've played the game a bunch, at first I hated it because I got stuck in the above cycle for a long while...
It's cool, but it restarts every time you dip and out of the area, and the area in question is a bit frustrating. There's some stage-song association there.

А вот восточнославянские русалки это грубо говоря "нечистая сила" (утопленницы), которая хочет заманить путника в реку, озеро или болото и утопить. The vocals in 9/Apocalypse sound like "kuole kuole kuole" which means "die die die" in finnish :D That was very fitting to hear in a boss theme! Axiom Verge was such a good game :)

I'm on my fifth playthrough of this game. What Axiom Verge does to the Metroid formula that other games don't is break the barriers of what we expect of exploratory power-ups; and the guns, my god, THE GUNS. Every encounter is different based solely on what guns you like and how you choose to play. Whereas every other Metroidvania just throws weapons at you, either as an RPG mechanic or as a tool path, Axiom Verge is like "here's 50 goddamn guns figure out what you like." And every play through is better than the last because I start to see more and more why and how certain guns were designed.
So I'm the only one slaughtering demons by the truckload in Brutal Doom while this is pumping in the background? Probably not. Something about this soundtrack goes so well with the Hell On Earth campaign in Brutal Doom...
Stumbled upon this game a few days ago. And my goodness this is retro perfection! The story, music, and level themes are the best I have come across for a retro style game. And this was made by one man!!! Can't wait for Axiom Verge 2.
The Axiom works so well as a main theme for the game/series, especially around the latter half when it goes full psychedelic it gives me the sense of uncovering the truth to the structure of the universe (the Worldstream, the Breach, A'ansur) and being overwhelmed and barely able to comprehend it
cellular skies, dune original mixed with the sci fi 1, and 2 throughout, man tom happ made a soundtrack as incredible as the gameplay/visuals, just AWESOME
Booted this up last night after buying it to check out the title screen and options. Thought the music was good. Booted this up this morning to actually play it, so I had headphones on. THE BASS.

Otherworld and Vital Tide are definitely my favorites from this good soundtrack.
Celluar Skies is the highlight, but this entire soundtrack is gorgeous. It really captures the feel of being trapped somewhere unnatural and alien.

Amon Amarth - War of the Gods is fantastic for Brutal Doom, too.
Guncaster or Project MSX are probably better WADs to play this music over.
