☺ Thanks Capt!. Sat here with a huge smile at the memories of when we lived at the bottom of the hill in quarters. There's more than meets the eye in Imber when you know the secrets! Yes, keep clear of the danger signs, tanks have gone over some UXB's from schemes that ran all year and suffered the consequences! I can still hear the shootings flashes from the tanks when they fired and see the flare lights floating down over Salisbury Plain from the night exercises. Gosh, It does take me back. (I loved it) Glad the kids were babies then so I could enjoy watching the skies light up at night. Some folks thought me odd but it was all new to me and watching it all and living there was great to me.
I thoroughly enjoyed that! 5 🌟 🥳. Wonderful array of buses. Fascinating history. IW has an excellent bus museum which has Bus Running Days. Vintage buses visit so occasionally can be spotted on Ferry Cam 😉.
I've spent quite a bit of time in Imber Village in years gone by. Fun fact - Salisbury Plain Training Area is the largest tract of land in Great Britain left untouched by the Enclosures Act
Theres also Tyneham (similar story was abandoned due to MOD taking it over in WW2 between swanage and Lulworth Cove and then near Golden Cap abandoned Medieval village of Stanton St Gabriel.
Ahoooy Captain if liked the rides on the Vintage buses we have a Vintage Bus Running Day on New Years Day in Winchester. We will recreate some of the routes that King Alfred Buses use to run and we will run a service to link up with our friends at The Provincial Society who run an Ale & Ride event in Gosport.
@ yes the Ale and Ride event hosted by The Provincial Society will be, all the bus rides are free at both events but make sure you get ticket from the conductor.

Are there any Public toilets at imber village please ?
That's a good question Shipmate. If I remember, I think there were some of those honey buckets temporary toilets there.
