      Trans is solid motors is solid.. but the connection was a engineering bandaid to pair them. There are a few after market fixes. Most enthusiasts just upgrade the transmission. Strong after market for these, it's actually not a huge cost. Put the tremec on a shelf for the inevitable resto in 20 years when everything is electric and these have huge collector value

  • @AkioWasRight
    @AkioWasRight 2 роки тому +147

    You have to manhandle a Tremec, which is fun, but it shouldn't be that tough. Same for the clutch on these. I would suspect the clutch has an issue. It's a muscle car, so the clutch is the first thing to take a beating.

    I have one of these for a daily driver but I upgraded mine with a 2.6 supercharger pulley, MGW shifter, McLeod RXT clutch and flywheel and Flowmaster Outlaws. She makes about 650HP at the crank and is an absolute joy to drive. I cannot overstate how much of an improvement the MGW/McLeod shifter and clutch combo is over the factory parts. I also disagree with the reviewer and think that this is absolutely the best looking modern Shelby car. It's an absolute monster and feels like a wild animal when you drive it like you're meant to. It definitely has a personality of its own.

    As others have stated, especially the 2007s have issues with the clutch/shifter. Having to push it in like that is making the synchros work very hard to mesh the gears. The owne r needs to address the issue instead “muscling it in” or he’s heading for a transmission rebuild sooner than he’d like. My car already had some 2nd gear grinding/catching when cold from this exact issue when I got it. The fix for my car was a McLeod rxt, mgw gen2, new throw out bearing/slave, and a blowfish racing mount to really make it part of the trans (that really finished it off) making the shifts feel better than any other car I’ve driven with how direct it feels.

    Saw a '07 GT500 identical to the one from this video. They're really quiet cars, they don't emit noise at all unlike post '14 Camaros.

    One of my fave reviews. The reason it goes above top speed limiter is the guy must have an engine tune on it judging from the cold air intake....

    my dad has an 07 gt500 and the stock clutch is a dream, and its not correct that you're having to jam it into gear... many others have pointed out it may be the synchro's or the clutch fluid, and I recommend you tell the owner about that. One thing it could be is a broken engine mount so the engine and trans is binding so you cant shift under load. seen it happen on an 06 Viper.

    Thank you for understanding the point of these cars. They’re weren’t the sophisticated or complex, but sophisticated and complex likely weren’t considered when Ford was developing this car.
    The point of this car is to give off charisma above all else, and be an achievable dream for nearly every American. When the plumber or lineman is done for the day and drives his GT500 home, he doesn’t care that it has a live rear axle, or if the transmission is notch-y, or the clutch is heavy. He cares that A: it was affordable. B: it sounds darn good. C: he can overtake anyone on the back country two lane highways without having to give it a second thought on his way home.

    The factory clutch likes to go out on the 2007 specifically. That could result in hard shifting.

    I gave mine a short shifter, a Mcleod racing clutch and the shifts just slide in as if they know where to go themselves.......simple upgrades like supercharger pulley , racing tune, JLT big air intake, bigger injectors, drag springs, long tube headers, fast flow cat x pipe, lower control arms and now pushing over 600+hp with much better road grip. With a supercharger upgrade these will get up to 800hp with no internal changes, and over 1000 with.

    My 2011 has a shifting issue from 1st to 2nd. The clutch MUST be fully depressed. No chance for a bang shift but feel for the tranny can be developed. The engine torque makes up for any time loss from shift issues however. The SVT suspension makes for a stiff ride but geez, it handles like a go cart. About as much fun as you can have with your pants on.
