    I love seeing the books you pick! I have read 'Real Americans" and 'The Lion Women of Terhan'. 'I was underwhelmed with 'Real Americans'. I enjoyed the characters and was invested into the plot, but it didn't really come together for me at the end. 'The Lion Women of Terhan' was my June BOTM pick and it was wonderful in so many ways. It reminded me of some of the same themes as 'As Long as the Lemon Tree Grows'. It has made my short list of my favorite books this year. I selected 20 books for my July TBR and have read 13 of them so far. My favorite titles completed this month have been- 'A Gentleman in Moscow' (Amor Towles), 'And Then There were None' (Agatha Christie), and 'Did I Ever Tell You?' (Genevieve Kingston). Several of the books I picked this month have to do with American history and literature from 1900- 1913; I homeschool my children and I am pre-reading books that I am planning to have my highschooler read. Books that I am currently working on and really enjoying are 'All the Colors of the Dark', ' The Women', and 'The Lost Story'. 'Trust' is on my TBR for August, so I am interested in hearing what you think! I look forward to seeing your monthly wrap up and hope you have an enjoyable month of reading!

      Thank you! Bummer to hear that you were underwhelmed with Real Americans. That seems to be a common feeling with it. So good to hear that Lion Women is good. Lemon Trees was my second favorite read of 2023, so I hope that means I'm going to love Lion Women. That's awesome that you've read 13 of 20 books so far! Aww A Gentleman in Moscow is one of my faves! I actually have a recipe + review video on that book. I loved The Women, but have zero desire to read The Lost Story. I just got a copy of All The Colors of The Dark. I've already finished Trust and it was an interesting read. Thank you for this lovely long comment!

    Thank you for a wealth of new/different recommendations. 1984 was a favorite back in school. 1984 Julia sounds like an interesting read.

      @@KatieReadsKoziesAndMore thank you for dropping by and watching! I’ve been hearing lots of good reviews of Julia, so I’m really looking forward to it. Since I was late getting the video up, I’ve already read a good handful of these books and I’m honestly so excited at how good of a reading month it’s turning out to be.

    Domino is so cute! I’d never heard of Julia, that’s pretty cool, I don’t really remember 1984 from school, but I’ve always wanted to revisit the classics. And I’ve totally heard of James on a couple other channels, need to look into that one! I look forward to a vlog on that if/when you do it!

    You have so many great choices! 1984 is one of my favorite classics, so I'm interested to hear what you think about Julia. Read James, then listen to The Trees. Starter Villian sounds bizarre, but in a good way. There are at least five other books I'd like to read. 😅

    I’ve never read 1984 but I might listen to it after I finish my current audiobook! Weyward was really good, quite heavy and full of triggers but really good in my opinion. I really want to read The Lion Women of Tehran and The Husbands! I’ve been feeling more like mood reading this summer but I am planning to read A Man Called Ove, The Things We Cannot Say, and am currently reading Just For the Summer and The Man Who Died Twice!

    Notes on Grief is powerful. I read it after losing my mom in 2022 and highly recommend. I'm going to San Diego for my birthday! Let me know if you have any bookstore recommendations. Verbatim Books is one of my favorites! I am very interested in your thoughts on Real Americans. From what I've seen, I'm an outlier in my thoughts. I did enjoy Goodbye Vitamin, which is why I had such high hopes for Real Americans. It was still a 3 star for me, but the last 1/3 took an angle I was not a fan of.

    • @BandysBooks
      @BandysBooks  2 місяці тому +1

      I’m glad to hear that Notes On Grief was a good read for you (although I’m sorry for the reason). Ooh San Diego! I have tons of bookstore recs. Libelula is my favorite bookstore and is in Chicano park. It’s only maybe 15-20 minutes from Verbatim. Of course, Verbatim is lovely. The Book Catapult in South Park is lovely. If you want romance only, Meet Cute in North Park. Mysterious Galaxy and La Playa are both fantastic and in Point Loma. Mysterious Galaxy is probably my second favorite. Warwick’s in LaJolla is really cool too and D.G. Wills is a used bookstore down the street from Warwicks that’s worth a stop too. (I actually have a 9 bookstore shopping vlog from SD coming soon. Not sure if it’ll be up before your trip or not) Hopefully I like Good Americans more than you, but I have since seen a few other not so glowing reviews.
