Your explanation of mortar consistency was SPOT ON - it was PERFECT! From 2 60# bags of mortar mix, I created 3 HUGE rhubarb pieces, 5 small hosta leaves, and 3 large squash stones. The rhubarb pieces I double layered with hardware cloth between the two layers. So much fun! Can't wait til they are cured and ready for sealing and painting! I have a friend that grows HUGE Hosta leaves - that could be my next project! Thank you SO much for your instructions!
Oh! Thank you for that video! I went to a garden demonstration to make these but they used peat moss mixed with concrete and they were not very sturdy. Love the tip about the mortar mix instead. I may have to give this another shot! Thanks for instruction AND inspiration!
Great youtube clear instructions, I'm on my way out to collect some leaves and make stepping stones for my moon garden! Also thanks for the tip of putting left over concrete in bucket to carve and make a stepping stone!
I just love your site. You have the best ideas and are so informative. By the way, I made vanilla extract using vodka, bourbon & rum. I also made it with Madagascar, Tahitian and Mexican beans using the three liquors for each bean. Hope they turn out. It's been a month...23 months to go...

Thanks so much for taking the time to show this. I've had it on the back burner for quite some time. Question: do you include sand in your mortar mix? And what is the difference that you have found between concrete and mortar. Rhubarb leaves here I come!
Yes I did notice your t-Shirt...I just think your purple mortar mix leaf is just beautiful...when can I come and get it...LOL...have great day and thank you for this awesome tutorial!!! Have a great birthday weekend! : )
I have been using a mortar mix for over 15 years and they have worked beautifully. I wonder if your mix was different? Did you put chicken wire or some other type of wire between layers. Also did you use a concrete sealer, paint and then sealer again?
Did you notice I am wearing a 4 Kids & a Farm t-shirt?
Yes
One of my favorite channels.
Would love to hear the story behind the for kids and farm t-shirt 🌿🐝💦

Hello Terry, they are so fun to make. This year the rhubarb leaves are huge on some of the plants.

Thanks Cherie, they are easy to make.

Daphne, I don't add sand to the mortar mix. The concrete can sometimes give you a different texture as the rocks can block some of the vines at times.

Hi Joey! Easy to make and paint.
Hi, cool I just saw this..thanks!
Very creative. Will they hold up for stepping stones? They would make pretty garden stepping stones.
Yes, absolutely I have two paths with them that have been in the ground for more then 5 years.
@@suburbanhomesteaderwy-az I was going to ask the same question . Can you press things into them like China Shards , gemstone rocks ?
Fun idea🌿
Hi Carol. Hope you have great plans for the weekend.
Loved this, and I plan on trying this process, that is for the great tutorial. 😍
Yay! Thank you! They are so fun to make.
Would love to try this!!
You should Vinetia, so fun.
Love those!
Thank you Jane, easy to make.
would like to paint a picture on one is it possible? Like the one you put in a bucket. Thought would be nice just like painting on a stone.
La rhubarbe c excellent très bon naturellement.
Thank you
Can you do a video on painting them?
Yes, when these new ones dry I will make a video.
Just wondering...can I do this for stepping stones? Thank you😊oops ask the question before the end 😂
Yes you can Vee. I have stepping stones made the same way hta have been in the ground for more then 6 years. We walk on them every day.
🙋♀️
When I used the motor mix they fell apart

Awesome! I wrote “let’s go Brandon” on the back of mine, in art class.
They are so fun to make. I should make a few this weekend as I have some leaves that are huge.
😂
You caught me off guard on that,😂😅 WELL; I WAS TAKING A BREAK FROM POLITICS.!

Thanks for watching Patricia
Really need to use gloves and don't eat rhubarb leaves because rhubarb leaves are toxic!
