I am delighted to announce that we were able to remove and rescue ALL guinea pigs from this home on April 6, 2021 to permanently put an end to the breeding and suffering these animals were forced to endure for many years.
Approximately 180 males and 74 female guinea pigs were removed from the home. They had been suffering from some time and that is visible upon close inspections. Almost all of the 180 males suffer from many bite wounds, eye infections, missing eyes, broken legs, URI’s, Scurvy , missing and broken teeth and possible malocclusion issues due to a diet that was lacking in fiber needed to keep teeth strong and healthy. I did not expect that there would be that many sickly and suffering males. These pigs were left to fend for themselves in a free range situation and from what I understand were fed a diet of Raw potatoes, carrot and bread only. No hay, no vitamin C right foods. I expect a lot of malocclusion issues because of it. We have created ICU cages that currently house the worst 15 males but truthfully ALL males are suffering from one thing or another and choosing who got the ICU cage were tough decisions today.
While catching and picking up all the females I noticed some huge bellies and estimate that 2/3rd of the 74 female guinea pigs are pregnant. Guinea pigs have 2 -4 pups per litter so that means technically we are going to be caring for another 150 baby guinea pigs that will all be born in the next 8 weeks,
So if the baby boom does indeed happen the total of guinea pigs we will care for not including our own pigs, will come to a total of 404 guinea pigs to care, house, feed and provide vet care for.
We hired a new full time team member to help care because there is no way our existing team will be able to take on all these pigs as well and do am acceptable job. We need to hire another part time person to help with their care as well.
The care for the males is intensive
Our needs are going to be great to care for this long suffering group but think we can work our magic and can save almost everyone. Oh I cant wait to show you how well they are doing on a daily basis. Their eyes will have no more infections, their teeth will be fixed, wounds all healed, URI’s all fixed and after many years suffering like this it is the most precious gift we can give these innocent little beings.
Since this is an active criminal investigation I and all volunteers and team members of the LAPR are not in a position to comment, share any specifics what so ever and / or have a public personal opinion on the matter lest it interferes with the active investigation. We all want to see justice done so please respect this and don’t ask questions we can’t answer.

Anyone who cares for their animal properly knows it’s SO MUCH WORK. It may as well be caring for a child. Thank god LAGPR was able to help.
I fully agree. I cannot stand people's carlesness, lack of knowledge in this day and age with access to every information possible. Complete ignorance and disregard for the lifes of animals to breed them and then put them thru hell. Ppl should have a licence to have pets honestly.
And how people could just think that animals don't have feelings and that they can treat them like old toys leaving them to fend for themselves
I know how you feel....I feel a slight tinge of guilt as I eat all manner of animals for my enjoyment and to sustain my health.....I also feel guilty as I like looking at guinea pigs videos and find them cute with those blank stare into space, dumb as a bag rocks looks...so adorable right but I am immensely curious as to how they would taste considering they have better diets than me🤷🏾♂️😋. They are actually a staple in some parts of the world esp. the Cuy breed

I would love to adopt one but I live in Houston,Tx 😭😭😭😭😭😭 but I'm an experienced guinea pig mom 🐱❤ wish I could really adopt one he or she will free roam my room! Plus there's a fridge in my room for veggies I own a bunny so I also have hay in my room for my precious bunny Jack 🐇🐰

I feel sad for the family too. Animal hording usually starts with animal love and then it gets over your power. They should have called for help but who are we to judge. So glad you got the boys too. They will be beautiful when they got medicine and good food. All these longhaired pigs will be beautiful. So you need lots of peppers and parsley I would send you some but it is a bit far away. Oh my, God will surely bless you for giving the precious babies the love they need. We have 2 beautiful babies and love them so much. They helped our daughter through a very hard time in life. I spent most of this video trying not to cry. I am very, very, angry at whoever did this, but I will try to do as you say, and just be happy that from this day forward they won't be suffering anymore. Thank you so much for what you do.
With animal hoarders, it's not so cut and dry. They usually are animal lovers and things get out of hand. It's sad.
I am really, really impressed that you have been rescuing guinea pigs for so many years and still keep on rescuing them. I imagine that it's mentally tough seeing so many sick and injured guinea pigs.

It was so heartbreaking seeing the condition of some of these sweet piggies, but at least we know they are in the best hands now. I'm so glad that this hoarding situation was finally brought to an end so no more piggies will suffer.

I gotta admit I had myself a good cry over these babies, but it just goes to show how important the work you do is. From education for owners to these life saving rescues you pull off. @@handy3hard Yes, Spaghett was a bubba born from the Norcal700 rescue (and all of the piggies from It's Pigs are from LAGPR). His name at the rescue was Preston, and you can spot him on Scotty's channel too, because Scotty attempted to bond him with Gari so that he could take him. LOL it didn't work out...
That poor little black and white one, precious baby reminded me of a skunk. I would have loved that little fella...so much. I don't own any piggies because of my cats but my goodness I could never ever imagine doing this to such an angel...

This isn't a lack of research issue. It is a hoarding issue and they dont care about the pigs. She also said there was a criminal investigation going so there may be more going on.

Woah..yeah, that was difficult to see. I have seen my fair share of cruelty, but this is a whole new level. Thank you for the preparation before playing the footage. Online judging does not help the pigs, nor does it encourage people to ever seek help if they are in difficulty. So I really appreciate your talk before showing us today. Wow, deja vu. When I saw this video pop up I thought it was one of the first videos you shot of your first large rescue. This must have been a huge physically and emotionally challenging rescue and the hard work is just beginning with having to care for such injured and sick piggies. I think some of the guinea pigs know you're saving them that's why they're so calm when you're holding them they know your heart. I believe animals have a sixth sense and our feelings are more intense than ours

It reminds me of a situation I was in about two years ago. My sister and her kids were in a bit of a bind because of a 'Rona outbreak. I got a call for help, and was on the road in a couple hours. I drove straight from Baltimore to Houston; with stops for gas, food, stretching, etc it was a 26 hour journey. (Thank you Monster Energy for your assistance.😅) It’s awesome how humans can find the ability to jump into action when they’re needed.🙂
Apparently they thought they were lil Russian people but potatoes and bread are definitely a no-no. So much sugar/carb heavy! Bless you Saskia, Gabe, and all of the crew at LAGPR. I am actually amazed at the fact that the guinea pigs look as good as they do (which sounds insane considering the eyes, ears, teeth, legs, nails, impactions, etc.). The girls too - they look great. How they survived is a testament to adaption and endurance. I hate thinking about animals that are in bad situations all over the world that just adapt to any situation, no matter how horrible. I just wish people would learn from this and do better. I know some do, so thank goodness for that.

Having never had a piggie in my 63 years, I’ve learned so much from Saskia and learn more on each video. I don’t think I’ll ever own one but I’m amazed at all that goes into them. Without love, they cannot thrive. Thank you Saskia, for all you do for the piggies.

Some people can be very ignorant on caring for animals.I belive they should be taught in school at an early age.Guinea Pigs were to much care for me,so after my piggie passed I decided to stick to mice ,because they are easier for me to care for.The piggies need lots of veggies,a really big cage,and constant health checks,but if you have the time and money needed to keep a Guinea Pig they are beautiful loving creatures.
