Thank you. I grew garlic and everything said to cut the scapes away. But I did not know what they were. And the internet did not look good as far as showing me. What? I needed to know you just did so thank you so very much. And I love your family and I love your your videos. Please continue and you have a wonderful family.

Stir fry, biscuits, soups, anywhere you use garlic. I planted both long and short and love the ones with the scapes the best. I also did something this year called spooning- this is where you use a tool to loosen up the dirt around the onions and garlic to allow for more room to get bigger. My tool was jus an old flathead screwdriver.

We grow hard neck garlic. I live in Ontario Canada so it gets really cold in the winter. I use mine as pickled garlic scapes. We are going to try them in pesto this year. I heard another channel that I follow just blend them up add a little oil and salt and freeze them. They use it as a base for pizza then add the usual pizza sauce on top of them. We want to try that also this year. We planted 100 cloves and only got 86 that came up. That should still be enough I think to get us through canning and extra for the winter.

This is the first time I’ve harvested the scapes and I plan to make pesto.

Add them to pasta, dips. Grill them. Saute them. Add to other stir fry veggies.

We’re growing garlic but I don’t know what kind. It already has pretty purple ball flowers. My question is, what do I do now?
