Ah! I finally got the A-21 concept to gel with what I learned in my college-level kinematics course!
So, you generate pedal motion by exerting torque around the "camshaft". The torque is transferred at the point where the drive linkage meets the "slide-adjustment part". You get maximum torque when the downwards component of the torque is furthest from the camshaft. Anything past that, and you're able to exert less and less torque as the restoring force of the spring gets higher and higher. Notice that when the beater hits the head with the A-21, the torque transfer point is about level with the camshaft. That means your torque always increases through the stroke!

What makes the real difference from all the other Axis models is The deep rocker, it makes it much more dynamic and usable even in mid tempo, the Axis took decades to understand it.

I play derek roddy's signature pedals A21 for the last 10 years but I dont know why but Im still messing with the tuning of the pedals and cannot pass the 200bpm wall. Its probably the player and not the pedals anyway hahaha

Have you tried changing your double bass technique? I do twitch tech until I need to go fast then I’ll swivel tech.

still the best kick pedal i've ever used over the last 20 years, full stop. That is until I spent 2 years designing, prototyping, and building, my own! (More info down the comment). Its hard not to be bias as I have more time with AXIS pedal, but I always try to be as open minded as I can with any gear because I know from experience that if you dont, you could be throwing away something away gear that can Objectively make your playing improve faster, increase the typical quality of life aspects, durability, and just working better with your particular body structure. But stil, after having DW3000s, DW9000's, Cobra's, and others pedals for long enough periods to get used to them and play put at least 700+ hours on 5 or 6 of the "best" sellers. I always felt at "Home" with the AXIS XL Longboards".
Recently with machining and Manufacturing equipment literally being obtainable for the average person, Ive been prototyping a set of pedals through CAD modelling Software (Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360), used 3D Printing to make over 200+ iterations, and I finally bought my own 3-axis Milling Machine which ive made 11 completely working and functonal pedals out of aluminum. They share a Long Foot board from the AXIS pedals but thats where the similarities start to step away from every traditional pedal out there. My "Big Brain Idea" in Designing a Bass Pedal's, was to use as few of pieces as possible, completely get rid of Tension Springs, and just be something that feels like a party of your body that should never need adjusting unless you want to. On that note, their adjustibilitty with tension is nearly infinite and if physics is right, the will keep that tension over a lifetime unless the main support system if compromised.
Id be dumb to say anything about them until after my Design has finished going through its Patenting Process. I'm sure other people and even the Major Companies have tried making a pedal thats works like mine in principal because its unthinkable otherwise, but it doesn't seem like it wasnt worth it (hard to believe), they didn't want to (hard to believe), or they couldn't quite figure it out (hard to believe). Especially when they have access to some of the worlds finest engineers. So I dont get it. Either way, I'm going to put mine to market and im confident theyll do great, call me naive, but Ive had over 30 drummers use them and almost all of them have gone through the same motions of, "Why? Why hasnt this been an actual thing until now?" and then they want to take them like a child who wants a new toy, haha. Theyve been great though. There words gave me even more validity and confidence.
Im confident the market will be in my favor. Kick pedals haven't really changed much in 30 years and Ive been waiting for innovation in the pedal market because their is so much room for improvements. I grew up on the internets and the only marketing im going to be doing is sending my pedals to UA-camrs to let them speak for themselves. After that, maybe a kickstarter to help with the mass manufacturing if demand is a big as I think it will be. Idk though, Im shooting for the beginning of next year to start sending them out one a get my company legal, my patents in place, and the other ducks in a row. Im excited and still amazed things have got to the point where a guy like, who didnt have a collage degree for engineering, was able to design, prototype, and mill a product that would have cost millions of dollars in the initial stages only 15 years ago. Ill try to remember this channel but if i forget, im sure youll see my pedals being reviewed by many people on youtube. By then ill have an official site and youtube page setup that you contact. Just copy/paste this comment to me and ill remember. Ill send you out a single, 2 singles, or a double set depending on what you prefer. Again, this is really exciting but just as stressful. If I could make my mark on the Drumming community, I couldn't think of anything better to achieve.

How did you get these pedals?! Axis doesn’t deliver in a timely manner. Fucking months and months.
