    I do disagree with tearing open a proof set. There is just a certain nostalgia about a group of coins that have been together since they were minted.

      I used to agree but you can keep them together and safer in a capital holder. Some dcams are nice but who trusts the grading service lately. Nope I’m not going to even gamble with a 1956 type-1.

    Thank you for another video, this answered a question I actually had but forgot about and was going to send a proof set back off. I do get proof sets which are older than 1965 that I get for my own personal collection graded. A lot of the coins I get graded it is normally for the purpose of reselling. Thank you for this video.

    I know this is an old video but have a couple questions, I got a modern 2020 Weir Farm proof silver quarter for free so no initial investment, and under the scope it looks immaculate with deep cameo frosting over the whole thing. Its a stunner. Would it be worth sending off since theres been no initial investment already? I seen the same coin graded selling for around $70ish.
    Not sure where id find price guide for these modern silver proofs. I see nothing wrong with it but full disclosure i haven't dealt with a ton of grading. I only have a few proof 70 slabs but things like a proof 70 2024 W Eagle, a 2023 proof 70 Libertad, and a ms70 malta Golden Eagle that i feel are going to be good investment with a good value increase potential over the years to come. Would you agree?

      Great idea. See if Dansco or Whitman will donate collectible books to the club library via the school librarian. Sometimes it happens. Another thought- if you get the club started maybe to start the collecting mainstream stuff go for the statehood/territory quarters and Presidential dollars, might help build it and keep it interesting in the beginning as those coins are current, varied, and fairly easy to find. Just a thought. Good luck with that!

      @Trollamollex 4 роки тому

      Coins are inherently valuable from rarity so we might assume that whatever grade it got, there aren't a lot of coins from that year that have that high of a grade. Or maybe the minting of proofs that year was low.

    What you want in older proof coins is cameo and deep cameo and the older (1950's and older) are what you want. Although it's highly unlikely that a common person could get one, proof 70 coins are utterly impossible for a common person to get in the older proof sets. It's better to just buy them at a certain grade or designation.

    After a year do you still look at the comments?
    I have a 1990 dime that was in cellophane, mint set I believe. I saw something on Roosevelt ‘s temple, so I took it put of the cellophane, I know I know I did it. Here's the thing there is a chunk missing, so I call it a suicide dime, my question is it a error? Better yet in grading would they note that and since it's a mint set, is it valuable?
    Also I have a 1909 s. VDB that I would like to show you, it is filled with controversy.

      I don't help in the comments, if you need help with a coin then post it in the coinhelpu community. I will forewarn you, I don't assist with coins people think are controversial. Coins are not a debating platform for me, if it's a mint error, then it's a mint error and if it's something that can't happen during the minting process then it's NOT a mint error.

    One coin that got me was 1999-W with a W variety, I had 1 of the $5 and 1 of the $10 ungraded but MS for sure, i bought to my coin dealer, he didn't even recognize the W variety which im sure you know about....$500 turned into 1.5k real fast :).

    If a coin has daks marks around the letters it means it has double die

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  4 роки тому

      No, it doesn't. A doubled die is a coin with doubled features because it was struck with a die that was doubled.
