Love this. You inspired me to get the beats because it sounds so good here. On first try I’m finding it a bit tough not to over power all the other drum parts with the kick. You’ve got it dialed in perfectly. The kick sounds huge, but everything else sounds crisp as well.
Pretty cool, but that’s actually a poly meter. Polyrhythm = different rhythm (ie quarter note triplets over straight quarter notes) polymeter = same pulse, but different bar lengths (ie 3/4 and 4/4) Andrew Huang has a video about this, called “Everyone get’s this wrong” (and they do... even him) if you don’t quite get it. They both are cool, though. I know it doesn’t matter, but I still wanted to make a note.
Hi JGHFunrun, Yes you are absolutely right. In fact I’ve done some other videos on my channel about polymeter if you want to check them out. Thanks for subscribing. 😀
Nice. Worth mentioning as I get pulled up on it sometimes, that Poly-Rhythm is not the same as Poly-Meter. The 3rd clock division on the Volca Modular is just a pulse in the same time as the basic 4/4 so 3/4 if you like over the top of 4/4. Poly-rhythm is when the 3 beats are over the exact same time as the 4 beats, which produces a much less 'structured' feel. I am currently fiddling with the volca modular at the moment trying to get proper poly-rhythm :) Cheers
It uses simple, small 1 pin wires that can be purchased cheaply from an electronics store. They are used for prototyping electronic circuts on breadboards etc. Other modular systems that use them are: www.tangiblewaves.com/products.html and bastl-instruments.com/instruments/kastle
Congratulations on creating a rare instance of the Volca Modular growling / funking and not shrieking. Excellent. I love your polyrhythmic patch.
Just got the modular this week. Lots of fun.

I’d be interested to see how you go.
@@bendudding easy using my keysteps as in this vid ua-cam.com/video/pC5l7uLCRcA/v-deo.html , but want to do it on my volca only setup :) ...
did you sync tempo only over the sync connection, or is the beats somehow firing the modular sequencer as well?
Hey man!
This sound is amazing. :)
Do you make any full lenght tracks? Because I loved what you did here.
Hey there,
Yes I do release music under two artist names: deep fried dub & alpha channel.
We are on all the major music platforms.
Hope you enjoy : )

Groovy. .)
this vid conviced me to get an volca modular. great. (for me, not for my wallet)
what does the volca modular use for pathc cables? isnt there a modular system that uses the same type of cables?
