Amazing Channel... Amazing Videos... Thank you ❤ My younger has currently been accepted at ETC level.... I think from ETC. I feel it's better than getting straight into Academy Football. If the foundation is good, then brick by brick, you can build a player up and nurture them the way you want them. To go straight to Academy, it's like being thrown in at the deepend. Thrown in with a pack of Wolves.. Crazy pressure from the parents etc. I just hope my younger keeps loving the game, listens to his coach, and believes in his teammates. 🙏🤞💯
Hello, I wanted to express my appreciation for this wonderful podcast-it offered me some very valuable insights as a young parent. I also wanted to note that England should be very proud of the talented players they produce. With one of the most competitive leagues in the world, the England squad is undoubtedly one of the strongest teams globally. Growing up in Spain, I observed how the Spanish identity we see today started to emerge in 2008. Before then, Spain often faced elimination in the knockout stages. The current style of play is greatly influenced by the philosophies of Barcelona and Johan Cruyff. Similarly, I believe the English identity revolves around quick transitions with direct passes, rather than long balls. A manager with a style similar to Bielsa's might be particularly well-suited for the England national team.
I think we did respect 🏴 before but not because of the National team but rather due to the Premier league. But now I can say that you guys are doing a good job. You have gained our recognition. All the way from 🇳🇦
"The secret is [Spanish coaches] work really well from early ages on tactics, on methodologies, to understand the game. So in a team sport, you need to acknowledge why things happen. Spanish coaches work really well to understand the game. Today, all the managers and coaches are really well prepared. That’s why the football is getting better and better." -- Guardiola The problem is not player development, the problem is coach development.
My younger is only 9.... There's obviously much better players out there, but honestly. At age 9, his football brain is years ahead. Pass accuracy is unreal. His Assist rate, the same. Technique, Talent, but believe because he's not a selfish player, goal machine he's Missed a lot by Scouts but honestly how you're explaining the Spanish coaches they'd probably have him over there.
@@thecasualfancorner I believe it was Cruyff who, when coaching at Barcelona, removed a plaque which said "If you are under six foot, go home," or something to that effect. I think it's in the English culture to want to do everything hastily for the sake of it, we've still not realised that the ball moves faster than the man. If you watch La Liga, you'll notice the tempo is slower, but when moves are executed they are lightning quick.
Coaching in Barcelona, the very best skills/tech coaches are teaching 5-12 years here in Barcelona. We play 7-a-side with squads of 9 snd 10 players, playibg 4x15 minutes… technical teaching and game related practice of tactics is incredible. Simple things like formations and variations… 3-2-1;2-3-1;1-3-2 and 2-1-3 and other variations and players learn these at 6-12 years… Coaches and players here in Spanish leagues are so advanced.. technification is so advanced…detailed knowledge is king, but application is another lvl
@@neildean7515 would you say tactical coaching is essentially about developing spatial awareness (of the pitch)? I feel that many British coaches lack understanding on this, hence the emphasis on one-on-ones, here.
England have done really well with their changes, however, the area UK players lack is positional awareness and game awareness. I believe that comes from coaching methods from a young age.
100%. There's nothing more important than positioning in football. That's why the best strikers score "easy" goals. Because nobody else was in the same place on the pitch, at the same time.
@@futsalescocia completely agree. I know 6-10 year olds who understand tactics here in Spain(Thinking players!!!) their player roles and how to outwit the team.
Englands performance is mostly due to managerial and tactical decisions not the result of developing inferior players. Englands squad is full of quality cmon. Bellingham, Rice, Saka, Foden, Kane... more than enough to the win the euros
Seeing England having similar convos we are having in the US makes me feel like everyone has the same problems which suggests no one is actually or addressing the problems correctly.
All pro players in Major League Baseball, NFL, and NBA love to play the sport. They are just have the physical tools to be good at it. Players and coaches talk about this being an issue all the time.
nature / nurture Everyone has a ceiling determined by natural ability (physical, speed, agility) and nurture (training, environment) you need both to be a pro. However the most import pre-requisite is nature. If you cant move well and are not agile or have physical limitations you will never be a pro. on the other hand, if you had very good natural ability and are athletic then with the right training you can get to the top. You cant teach someone to grow and become physically faster, but there are academies out there obviously and this is why they appear to be choosing the young athlete in attempt to turn them pro with their training environment. So end of the day the most important thing is natural ability, coordination, agility, acceleration these are mostly genetic makeups. Without this no matter how much training and how good the environment is it just wont happen.
@@kubeske You've just explained why England churn out pros who'll never win international tournaments. There's a huge reservoir of untapped talent left to rot.
7:30 I always hated that stop start coaching too. I'd dribble past a couple of players and be about to score in training and the coach would stop the game to tell them what they had done wrong in defence, leaving me thinking, come on mate, I was about to score there. I don't care what mistake the defenders made.

Just waffling about strategies and tactics and actions. You can articulate what the top footballing nations do in one sentence. Darius is right - we have to admit that we don’t have one that is in any way useful. And build from there.
Hopefully this helps : England DNA focusses on 3 areas, in possession, out of possession and in transition. In possession : England Teams aim to intelligently dominate possession selecting the right moment to progress play and penetrate the opposition. Out of possession : England Teams ain to intelligently regain possession as early and efficiently as possible, taking into consideration, the state of the game, the environment and the game plan. Transition : England teams sense moments in the game both in and out of possession, react instinctively and intelligently.
I think hes right, Gareth Created a great Environment, but, when it comes to “winning” trophies, the manager needs to be brave and ruthless. You will never hear Alex Fergie, Pep or Mourinho called a nice guy, its because there is a ruthless/nasty streak to their desire to win..Gareth was a nice bloke.. lets see if he becomes a winning club manager
I don't understand why there is such a negative view on NOT playing out from the back every single time? Has Guardiola really changed the minds completely? There are other strengths to a team, and weaknesses for the opponents that you try to take advantage of. Isn't there a better view to appreciate different types of tactics, strategies, weapons in football. Maybe the secret lies in being able to use these different weapons when the time is right? Madrid is the greatest team, when they play long against Liverpool in the CL final, but succeed doing it, why isn't there the same hate then?
