The host asking “do you ever play a player out of position to punish him” that speaks volumes about his mindset and he didn’t even flinch

This guy is always so negative. He asked "what if a kid is faking an injury" when the topic was about managing injuries. I think dude is on the spectrum.

Play a player out of position to punish him, hmmmm.. That is very cruel.

I’ve got a 13 year old boy and an 11 year old girl both playing academy level. Love the podcast. Can you also get some people in from the girls/womens game. Would love to see if and where the differences are.

I couldn't agree more with Mike in the mindset of investment, a positive and growth mindset. This is so important for young footballers and it starts at home. As a father I can see the challenges for ensuring my young man has that. It is a challenge at times, as they get older and wish to test boundaries but helping them to keep the mindset of growth and future goals is so very important.

Good episode but the 'celebrating getting into an academy' piece at the end felt lazy in how it came up and think should have been shut down quickly.
Who can begrudge a 8/9 year old celebrating ecstatically for being selected to play in academy??? Feet certainly need to be kept on the ground, but the sacrifice, hard work, practice, determination and investment from the whole family is BIG and certainly deserves celebration. 1000s of kids want to sign with an academy. Who cares if they get released in 2 years? The experience and value gained in this period of time should help to shape character if nurtured properly.
Wholeheartedly agree with Michael's reference to playing academy viewing it as an experience rather than my son is a professional narrative.

That’s a fair point man. I felt I did push back on it? However you have to allow the discussion to happen. But I agree with you and I did say that at the time. 🤝

@@ProjectFootballeryou did tbf. I get some do think in the way he was saying. But like you say, celebrate the milestones along the journey. Solid principle across life 🙏🏾

My nephew just signed Chelsea U9 and we threw a surprise celebration for him at grandmama’s. He deserved it, he’s been working!

Celebrate every piece of success like it’s the last. Any kid signing should be celebrated as he’s best in class at that time. Balls to the do gooders whose kids just aren’t at that level. If they get released then deal with the tears and bank the life experience.
