I would say the most down to earth big name driver. I’ve had the opportunity to talk to him a few times at the races. But also on his UA-cam channel he will respond to 90 % of his comments
John Force is the Baddest Dude in Drag Racing ! If Bob Glidden was still with us he'd be the Baddest Dude in Drag Racing ! Bob will always be #1 in my book.
And a huge thank you for actually calling it an engine instead of a "motor" which is a huge bone of contention for me. people intertwine the two but the terms are different for a reason so thank you for being professional.
if only I had the money to build an engine of this caliber but with say half the hp for theoretically twice or more lifespan. Id be happy with a bulletproof 3000hp LOL and yes I realize that is closer to 1/3rd the hp of a full tilt boogie top fuel motor. what i would love to see is an unlimited category of top fuel where you can go as big as you want with cubic inches. imagine what a 1000c.i. engine could produce under the same criteria.
Amazing performance under vry heavy stress where just mere 4cubic inches give100HP 8ltr engine generating12000HP, its vry last feat which a mechanic & his machining skills can achieve 12000hps u don't need for track but ships & trains but dragster is truely different ball game its just equivalent to a hit full of dopamine if my English allows me to state shud b pardoned
These share nothing design wise with a Chrysler hemi beside having a hemispherical chamber 🤷🏻♂️. Lots of engines had hemi chambers before Chrysler did.
I assume a belt drive, whenever I see high-end pushrod V8's they make use of a belt instead of a chain. from what I know is that belt are far stronger under high rpm and horsepower.
Timming is gear driven....but to answer your question of "stuff thats never talked about"..... its simple...secrets! Every crew chief/engine builder has their own special secrets they will build....while this video was cool...its was also really vauge with real information.... this supplier here isnt going to give up his clients secret recipie....was a nice video...although we didnt learn anything....🤦♂️
The 12,000hp figure quoted by top fuel dragster engine builders has now finally been debunked. Up to recently no dyno was available that could measure these engines power because 1. They are not robust enough, and 2. the engines only produce their power for a max of 6 seconds. It requires a dyno pull of 15 seconds to take a measurement. So the 12,000 is just a maths equation based on fuel consumed. Now, someone has hooked up their dragster hemi engine to the dyno at GM Diesel, and quess what the real number was? 4250hp at 7000rpm. So now you know.
Let’s get some facts straight. That number you got would match up with a top alcohol car. Those run alcohol and in the ball park of 4k horsepower like you said. Top fuel cars run nitromethane and make 12000 horsepower. Also the reason why does motors are one and done since that fuel destroys motors. 4k horsepower must have been a alcohol car and you got mistaken. Top fuel cars guaranteed make over 10k horsepower. 4k horsepower for top fuel car is bullshit, plenty of pro mods making more.
Drag racing is a huge waste of somebody’s money. Wasting a lot of engine parts for no good reason. It’s just like burning a couple hundred grand every 4 seconds you run an engine.
Great Episode!!!
Dennis and PME Let’s Go!!!
great episode! Clay and his crew are the best !! thank you !
Good to see you here Brent! I just noticed I was unsubbed from your channel BUMMER! I clicked it back on! Stay Rad!
It's amazing how this went from the drawing board in late 1963 to one of the baddest engines on the planet still being used in 2023.
By bad you mean Rad, right?
Clay is the baddest dude in drag racing!

Clay seems like a great guy and I watch his UA-cam stuff. Always entertaining and informative.

Just shows you're not in the automotive industry.
@@tonyslater8641 I have been a mechanic in the heavy duty and automotive industry for the last 38 years thanks.

Great video cool to see what Dennis does with the Top Fuel team love it...
70 👍's up EB thank you for sharing 😊
Ayyyyyye Dennis and pro motor engines on the UA-cam
Great video. Hey Dennis!!!!
Clay has said the reason they have 2 rigs 1 car is due to the parts they carry and hospitality.
Lessssssgoooooooo!!
Money money money.

1,500hp/cylinder 😳😳
It blows my mind you can only get one run per rebuild, can't imagine the money spent on parts

8-12 blocks? Dang man we low budget guys only roll with 2-3! haha.
Remember this design started in 1964.
Exactly lol
Nothing secret or new here

Thus vid would have been great with a decent host
And what’s with the horrible crap music
Does doing a throttle whack help find problems or cause them?
It's really more of a break-in since the engine has typically just been put back together.
It’s main purpose was to seat the clutch back in the day.
How is this not a Chrysler but your recent billet block is a chevy
526 platform? did he mean 426 platform that is bored and stroked to 500cid
Correct. Just a slip up on that number.
I want to know what they run for a timing chain or gear ? This is never spoken of

Dennis fixes Ka Bluey's.
Clay doesn't practice the tree 😅
I still honestly don't think. It makes 12,000hp maybe 5 to 6 at most. Guy with a 4000hp promod is almost a second behind a top fuel car.
You're wrong
Well you’re guessing about stuff you know nothing about.
Why aren't you guys running ford ? I thought you wear ford badges on your team shirts.
I'd rather look at the parts more than you two talking.
Haha, noted.
I thought he was running ford now
No, just sponsorship

All racing at the highest levels is just corporate tax write off so that's kind of the point
It’s ok to not like entertainment, and freedom of speach is cool… but you are also wrong on all points that you have made.
NASCAR / F1 / INDY don't make $$ sense either.
@@MycontentisgoldJerryGoldobviously they make money ir they couldnt keep racing.
