OpenMW 0.47.0: Journey Through Helnim Fields

- In which I exterminate the local wildlife with extreme prejudice. Some people were asking on my previous video what normal gameplay looks like so here it is. Again this is a heavily modded version of OpenMW and not official in any capacity. Played and recorded on the animated grass development build of 0.47.0. Occasional freezing is due to Shadowplay, I don't know why it happens.

This engine has a bright future ahead of it, nice to see it getting some love.
It's amazing that a game from 2 decades ago still has a big modding community
This looks great. Thank you for posting your mod list in the description.
Looks fantastic! Great set up you've got there!
I've never seen Morrowind so beautiful. Your setup is a little vibrant for my tastes, but between the developing VR branch and continued work towards LUA and Oblivion/Skyrim asset support, OpenMW may become the best way to play Elder Scrolls.
Morrowind is supposed to be a hot and humid place so I kind of wanted to replicate that in the visuals.
@@MizterMoonshine Can you tell please when there will be full release and download link from torrent or in steam for that full release of yours?
@@MizterMoonshine Very good job by the way
@@independentnewsusa4029 Apologies but I cannot redistribute these mods due to permissions. You will have to follow the mod list posted in the description.
@@MizterMoonshine you can upload the finished product on torrent, even russian torrents, like rutracker.org or rutor.info, people will honour and say thanks to you. Just consider this, no one will say a word if you download full version at torrent
Looks amazing! Which mods are you using for the 3rd person diagonal movement and head movement?
It's not a mod, it's a new feature in OpenMW 0.47
@@MizterMoonshine Ah thanks! Makes sense why i couldn't find a camera mod in your modlist. Looks like i'll have to look into the nightly version/gitlab merge request
Do you have a guide on installing these mods?
I play Skyrim with 500 mods, and I would like to start playing Morrowind too since SkyWind is taking too much time.
I have a mod list in the description if you are interested.
You didn't ask my permission to waltz through helnim, I'm the jarl of helnim
Holy shit this looks good
I can’t believe this is Morrowind.
yup, because it does not look like Morrowind at all
🙂👍good job! 👏
I couldn't tell this was morrowind at first. Can you show off Balmora and make a guid for this installation please?
What is that sound mod? I want my footsteps to sound that soft and nice. Vanilla ones make my ears bleed after playing a while/
Morrowind Acoustic Overhaul
Hi, It looks cool I wanted to ask you are you transferring this to some engine?
OpenMW, fan made engine remake.
do You use any mod for two-handed weapon animation? especially running with weapon, in vanilla its look like tiptoe-run.
I use Animation Compilation, and OpenMW's Smooth Movement option.
In terms of main story and all the side quests is openmw complete or is it mainly just a sandbox to play around in atm?
Don't worry about the version number, it's 100% playable and has been for a few years. Straight upgrade to the original engine.
@@MizterMoonshine oh nice thankyou, has it got good mod support at this time? Like graphics and quests etc?
@@lycanlube7484 Yup, just no MWSE
Hey, how do i install openmw 0.47? I can only find 0.46.
0.46 is the last stable build. You can get 0.47 features from the lasted nightly build, but most people are waiting for the official 0.47 release. When it does come out, though, it will have much more stable and optimized features like lighting improvements and distant land.
For once, I actually am impressed with OpenMW. Great to see the improved distant land and moving grass (I'm guessing it uses a similar method to how MGE XE instances it?). I don't think I could give up MWSE but will look forward to it hitting version 1.0 someday.
Functionally grass works the same as MGE XE. For me, I can do without MWSE as the improved stability of OpenMW, not having to worry about crashing, is better than any mods the script extender offers for the original game. Also I think there's a good chance OpenMW will get some equivalent of MWSE this year. It's an exciting time for the new engine.
@@MizterMoonshine I do look forward to it if that's the case. Do you think some type of godray implementation would be possible? That and better typography would be much needed I think. Thank you for this video
@@rosenrot6871 Of course, anything really is possible with OpenMW, it just requires a developer with the skills and time to actually implement it. We could even see volumetric lighting eventually like in Skyrim SE. Though as I said in another comment the engine is pretty much complete now, which has freed up the developers to work on things like distant land, shadows, and grass.
Very Impressive! I was trying to copy your mod list and download them all, but I could not find these... It seems most of them have been hidden on Nexus.
+TES3A Abecean Isles
+Rename Fatigue to Stamina
+VGreetings
+Mystical and Religious Maar Gan
+Sacred Molag Mar - Town of Piligrims
+Cozy Hla Oad and Gnaar Mok
+Grim Khuul and Enchanted Ald Velothi
+Fabulous Suran
+Balmora The Awakening
Hmm I don't know why those town mods were hidden. VGreetings is a very old mod not available on the nexus, you can probably find it on Morrowind Modding History. TES3A Abecean Isles is a preview of a mod project only available from their discord, I wouldn't recommend it for normal gameplay.
The mod that renames Fatigue to Stamina is available here

@@MizterMoonshine amazing, thank you sir! 🙌
What is that rendition of "The Road Most Travelled" playing at the beginning?
Also, do you mind sharing your specs?
It is "Grazelands Dawn" from ESO soundtrack. All music in this video is from ESO.
My specs are: GTX 1080 Ti, Ryzen 7 2700X, 16GB RAM, @ 3440x1440 120hz.
Any chance to get Your Vtastek shader tweaks? This is mind blowing
I simply changed "sunexp = 16.0" to "sunexp = 12.0" in lightsettings.glsl
@@MizterMoonshine and thats all? :) amazing
@@demanufacturer87 Yup, but I also use a slight bloom and cinematic LUT effect from Reshade
@@MizterMoonshine which reshade preset do You use?
@@demanufacturer87 I use 3 shaders, "prod80_02_bloom", "Directionally_Localized_Anti_Aliasing_Plus" and "prod80_02_Bonus_LUT_Pack" with LUT 'PD80 Cinematic 02'
You can select these shaders when you install Reshade, I didn't change any settings.
Can you make some kind of torrent for this setup?
Is this purely graphics? Have you got any gameplay changing mods.
I have a few but nothing major
come on man are you using a reshade or thas how the game looks in 4k
Do you use "Vibrant Morrowind" as your texture pack?
What mod did you use for shadows?
It comes with OpenMW.
I have some of these mods but am playing on 0.46.0 I have no regrets for the groundcover mod even at 9-15 fps anywhere there is heavy grass with the shaddows all on.
0.46 is an extremely outdated build at this point.
@@MizterMoonshine 0.47.0 hasnt been released as the main version yet or I would have used that. But I think my 16GB Ram and GeForce GTX Titan X are being let down by the i7-920 as that was released closer to Morrowind than present day.
@@gm2407 No the performance in 0.46 is just that bad. 0.47 runs much smoother when using grass because it has a special system for rendering it.
@@MizterMoonshine Will I be able to install 0.47.0 in another folder and reference the main Morrowind since most of my mods are direct in game replacements (so long as I add the content=xxxx.esp to the appropriate file)?
@@gm2407 Yes, every install of OpenMW is separate. You can install 0.47 in another folder and it will use the same settings and load order because it stores settings in the config files in Documents.
Awesome ! Your game have some crash ? or he still stable ? :o
I would love to make morrowind like this ! =O
OpenMW doesn't crash, it's 64 bit
@@MizterMoonshine Thanks ! Will try to make the same for me so ! ^^
Hope see a guide modding vidéo from you for Morrowind :D
I am very confused, is this still morrowind?
It is TES 3 Morrowind with Tamriel Rebuilt (which is where the location of the gameplay footage is from). There is a new wrap arround engine which improves the stability of the game as well as graphical quality. Also 300 or so mods have been added so meshes, textures, sounds ect have been upscalled as well. It is Morrowind but with more plastic surgery than hollywood.
please keep making Morrowind videos in this aspect ratio :)
I definitely will.
Have you ever considered putting your MO2 mods folder into a compressed archive (zip, 7z, rar, etc), putting said archive onto a filesharing website, and letting lazy people like me download it from there? I would love to try out this modlist, but if installing ~100 mods and making sure everything works takes up a whole day, I'd hate to see how long 300 will take. This is entirely up to you, though.
As I've mentioned before I cannot redistribute these mods. I can make a quick tutorial video on how to get the basics setup which doesn't take long but it won't be for a while.
What are your specs?
GTX 1080 Ti, Ryzen 7 2700X, 16GB RAM, @ 3440x1440 120hz
@@MizterMoonshine can you copy the mod list for this again? I want to try it because with the one i followed from the "total Overhaul" i can not get any groundcover that doesnt tank FPS.
@@deusvermiculus1072 The version of OpenMW featured in this video is OpenMW's grass development build, it's not available to play yet unless you know how to download Gitlab merge requests. You can try the 0.47 nightly which features object paging instead, it merges grass meshes for much better performance.
@@MizterMoonshine so the grass would be included in the OpenMW client? COOL! how long do you think it will take for this version to be released through the Linux Repos? I really enjoy morrowind modded, but groundcover just add so much to the immersion.
@@deusvermiculus1072 You still need a grass mod from the Nexus, it works similar to how it works in MGE XE. No idea when it will be released, but I've been playing it and it works really well. Hopefully soon.
Honestly that's beautiful , but... That's not morrowind anymore . Just my point of view.
I mean, you can say that about any kind of game and modding it.
What are your music mods?
It's the soundtrack from Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind. You can find it on the nexus.
@@MizterMoonshine Ok thank you, is it OpenMW compatible?
@@mymorrowind Yes
Why is everything so bright? This looks like a generic mmo, not the Vvardenfell I renember.
Custom shaders. I have always thought of Morrowind as a humid, almost tropical place. Besides, this is not Vvardenfell, but the Morrowind mainland from Tamriel Rebuilt.
Hello give me please this morrowind
is this Morrowind?...The graphics is too advanced, I prefer the original engine, there was more mystery.
I like vanilla Morrowind, however I find the game runns better in OpenMW even if it is vanilla only. There are also better screen resolution, detail on land and water with existing assets without losing that feel you are refering to.
This version sucks. They took out the ability to enchant cast when strikes on ranged weapons. It ruined my file and my entire experience. Who thought it would be a good idea to implement a bug from the original versio ?!
It's so DAMN annoying when people showcases Elder Scrolls (or Fallout for that matter) mods in third person... Why ? Why would you do that ? What's the point ? Nobody cares about the janky ass third person animations of Bethesda games, that's not what we want to see.
what a terrible job...this does not look like Morrowind at all, more like The Lord of the Rings Online
That's probably because the area he's playing in is set on the Morrowind mainland, not the subcontinent of Vvardenfell that the original game is set in.
