Honestly, here in MI around Detroit, doing these builds through marketplace is pretty easy. There are still tons of people dumping mining hardware on top of many of the Metro area being very technically inclined and motivated professionally. So good hardware is a dime a dozen and often goes cheap. 1440p rigs under $3-400 are feasible
I paid $300 on OfferUp for a PC that came with an i7 8700k, ASUS GTX 1060 6GB Turbo, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a 240mm AIO cooler, and a case that has 7 RGB fans. It came with no PSU or storage. I think I got a good deal.
@@BREEZYM6015 Well... 1060 is somewhere in the rank of Chinese 580, 8700k is usable but 6c/12t processors are cheap now (8700k is slower than r5 5500, but has larger TDP) and you still have to buy PSU and storage . It is not that great deal, considering we are talking about used hardware .

I'm really happy you showed us putting new thermal paste on the CPU. While blower-style GPU's do tend to run hot, I bet repasting it would have helped its temperatures too.
In Fortnite on DX12 you have to set the view distance to LOW to match how it looks in performance mode.
Changing the view distance to low eliminates the grass on the ground and changes the build pieces to the same graphics as performance mode.

Terrific value for a prebuilt. The RX480 does a respectable job and the 1800X seemed to run cooler than I expected.
I had one of these and the RX 580 being a RX 480 and 1 fan really screws you up long term

Jeez it's weird seeing a similar PC to mine (R7 2700 and RX 580-4GB, Inspiron 5676) being priced below $300.
I got mine new for $700 after some point savings, otherwise would've been like $1,200 or $1,400.
i had this exact one, got it at a pawn shop like 5 yrs ago and paid like 500 for it, I liked it alot and only upgrade was an extra hdd and I should have invested in another stick of ram. overall it did the job and the kid I sold it to was happy with it and he enjoyed so I was glad.
oh and it also had the protective film still on it lol

When cleaning a pc, always put something to prevent the fans from spinning from the air you blast on it.
@@johnbowyer9815 the part of the video where they blast the dust off the PC, you can clearly see the CPU fan spinning when they blast the heatsink.
It's quite dangerous for the electronics.

Quite a few years ago, I saw this at Office Depot of all places. It's sleek.
It looks like a RX 480 reference (6pin PCI-E) The 580 I believe was AIB only models. But they might have made som OEM reference 580 models since the GPU was the excact same, just slightly higher clocks on the RX 580). But the power distribution already was close to its "allowed" limit on the 480, due to just one 6pin.

I picked one of these up for 250. It had an i5 8400 and 1660 Super.i upgraded the storage and flippant it for 350

Cooler looks like a cost reduced version of the Wraith Max. The case needs a heavy duty fan. Arctic makes a nice 92mm fan that's rated for 2000RPM and continuous operation. They're actually not as loud as you might think.
RX480 and RX580 are basically the same. The RX580 has slightly higher clocks. And a RX580 OEM is objectively better than a 2048.
I wonder if this mobo can support later Ryzen CPUs

The RX 580 is just a 480 with bit higher voltage, tdp and clock. Its a bit weird you dont know that. You can flash most rx 480s to a 580 bios and get more performance
how does that Ryzen 1800x compare to I5 3570k Oc 4.2 Ghz I got it paired with a Sapphire Nitro RX 580 8gb.
No upgrade path on these, locked BIOS, so you can't upgrade CPU.

Please! Please! Can you do an Maximum Upgrade video for this PC! I have this prebuild and want to upgrade it but do not know if it is worth it. FYI I do not know if you updated the BIOS for the motherboard before you did the testing, it might make a difference.
If there are bios upgrades available a 6 core Zen3 chip and something like a 2060S should work great with the PSU limitations. If you upgrade the PSU then the sky's the limit, as long as you can get BIOS upgrades to run the newer CPUs. If there are no BIOS upgrades then the 1800X is the furthest you can go on this PCB.

The RX 580 OEM was basically a SKU created by AMD to allow OEMs to reflash their existing RX 480s and call them RX 580.
They are 100% RX 480 (architecture, clock speeds, power draw being 6 pins as opposed to the 8 for the RX580)

That was a rare, Dell entry level gaming PC with a Ryzen processor. I piked one up 4-5 years ago. Sad that Dell doesn't make those anymore.
I had one and it's not very good tbh anymore. You had way better options now for a $900 PC. Back in 2018 it was not bad though.

I hate when they don't put two sticks (Dual Channel) on Ryzen builds. It bottlenecks the performance a lot. Use 3000/3200 (cl14 or 16) RAM in dual channel on the 1800X, and it shines.

Hi how do you feel about a Ryzen 5 4500/2600 cpu and evga gtx 1070?
Fellow 1070 user here 😎. Snagged a r7 3700x but only because someone was selling what was left of a prebuilt for 60 bucks it didn’t boot. Turned out to be a few bent pins on the cpu. The pc also came with 16 gb Kingston fury ram, 256 wd m.2 1 tb wd hdd it really was a steal. MOBO was dead and psu looked sketch so i had to source those elsewher. Oh yeah i got the gtx 1070 for 70 bucks. All in all i spent less than 180 for the build.
@@gosh.o505 nice I’m thinking about purchasing a brand new Ryzen 4500 for $80(comes with cooler) and I was thinking about the evga gtx 1070 but it’s on fb marketplace for $100 and I’m not sure if it’s a steal or sketch. If not that then I was gonna go with the rx 580 on Amazon for about the same price brand new. Also Unsure on buying this $30 “brand new” 800w bfg psu on the fb marketplace. I heard if the cables are new then you shouldn’t worry but let me know if I’m wrong about that.

Unfortunately not, the Dell BIOS doesn't offer 2nd or 3rd gen Ryzen in these.
I had one of these, it's impossible to upgrade it due to the locked bios. The only way to upgrade that CPU to 2nd or 3rd gen is by literally flash hacking the bios chip. The only upgrade it goes to is 7 1800x.
@@TotallySearch Better to invest the money into the same parts in a cheap case with an upgradeable bios then. Most you will get out of a first gen ryzen system is another year until windows 10 goes eol.

Haha.... I bought that exact setup brand new right when it came out. I wanted a 1st gen Ryzen + amd video at the time just cause..... 1st gen ryzen. and.... I'm watching this vid on it. BTW... it was around $1500 when new.
yep, that's just the way it shipped, all stock parts CPU cooler (very loud running cinebench / fine otherwise) 8GB RX 580 and the 1 - 16GB ram. I replaced the ram w/2 - 8GB for dual channel. I just replaced my video card because the fan was a bit noisy = fan still working but replaced w/a GTX 1060 6GB I had laying around from asus / dual fans to quiet it up. My RX 580 didn't have the driver issue (RX 480???) that you had.
1500?!? I paid $900-1k and I still felt a little ripped off even back in 2018. The Rx 480 issue is very common though for this dell, especially with it's 1 fan
@@TotallySearch I was referring to the driver issue w/the RX 580 they had during the Windows install being seen as a RX 480. As for the fan... and why I replaced... all blower style fans are noisy to start even when new but mine is "clicking" due to age and use. I purchased mine in 2017 when they 1st hit the shelves and was $14XX everywhere, I'm aware later on (2018) the price dropped as happens w/all computers. At the time I was looking to build my own vs purchasing an OEM. I made my list of parts, started shopping and my cost before building and shipping was going to be around $1600+ just for parts so I went the oem route. It was video card prices at the time causing the price issue for the build it yourself option as I recall. All in all been a great pc and only complaint is no official Windows 11 support :(

I’ve updated the drivers GPU and CPU and I’m still getting very low FPS, I’m averaging about 30 FPS on game, (Lords of the fallen) in 1080p on low settings,,this is ridiculous. Does anyone have any idea what’s going on? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you PC nerds. Also
FYI, I have a desktop with a Ryzen 7 and they RTX 4060 TI and I’m pushing frames about 150 on the same game but @ 1440p high settings , doesn’t make any sense the laptop should clear 100 FPS easy
Make sure to go into the nvidia control panel and select the 4060 GPU.
@swampfox1732 thank you for the reply. I turned the GPU to the 4060 I also made sure all overlays were turned off on Steam,,Nvidia,, HP omen, app, I think I have to go back into the Nvidia control panel and turn off (fine tune audio) that might help. but thanks again for reaching out🙏

@@swampfox1732 update: even though I had my GPU on the control panel set to the Nvidia I had some other settings wrong problem is is I went to a website to get the specs on how to program it which were actually completely wrong I went to Reddit and found out how to properly tune it and I'm pushing 150 plus frames now I just need to rinse and repeat at my desktop at home and that should even bump it up even further
I paid $600 for one of those 4 years ago with a 2700x in it. Not bad 4 years ago either.

I had this computer in the uk but the CPU was water cooled. All that let it down was Dell would not update the bios to take either 2xxxx or 3xxx ryzen. It lasted 3 years before I changed over to intel.
