I always wondered what the procedure was. What an amazing way of processing it. I think alcohol is enjoyed even more when one knows what the source is and how it was made. Thanks for this bud!
Amazing...what passion he has for feni! My greatest memory of feni is first time I had it...two drinks and nothing happening...and I was like, ye to bahut weak hai, dost kya bol rahe the ke ye bahut strong hai...so I ordered a 3rd drink and then it hit me...by the time the 3rd drink came i was almost falling off the chair....feni araam se nahi chadti...it literally goes from 0-100 in 5 seconds :-)
Remembering the good ol' days in Mumbai, then Bombay. Guzzling down litres of Feni with my Goan friends and then feasting in Khau Gulli, Byculla. Oh well ! Those were the carefree days.....I miss a LOT ! By the way, gr8 video.
As a whisky enthusiast., That's a damn good episode. Can you please make an episode which will cover every single rural alcohol. It will be good for promotion. Cheer's.
Very informative . My first trip to Goa was i think in 1993/4 and then in 1996. I think it was at that time promoted as a poor man’s liquor/drink. Also it was an acquired taste. I think now the perception has changed . I’m dying to visit India, once the pandemic is over. Thank you for sharing your amazing videos 🙏🏼
Hansel sir just changed the perception of alcohol, it's taste, flavour. I always related with how high you can be. Never think it in this way. Amazing Thank you anubhav sir and Hansel sir
The host is truly an encyclopaedia of feni and drinks amazing 👍👍👍 I think Anubhav you should make episodes of other viillage drinks in india like neera etc thank you really enjoyed the episode
What a command over Feni. When i been to Goa in 1993, the bar attender offered me Cashew Feni first day & then Coconut Feni on second day. That day onwards, i had only Coconut Feni. I must say that Mr. Hansel should conduct few more sessions on this topic. People who visits Goa in search of liqour should aware the way to enjoy the drink. Its not only liquor but its a culture of Goa. Anubhavaji, a very special thanks to you for including Feni as a part of Food Culture.
This Episode was really very interesting and efforts from Mr. Hansel Vaz for the product and his passion can be seem. Specially the GI part. Congratulations Mr. Anubhav your new episodes are more like virtual tours to different parts of India exploring history and food. Very interesting Best of luck.
Person in orange shirt is describing every detail of it. He looks like master of fenni . He has so much passion towards his profession very good work by Delhi food walk.
Concept of alcohol and underground fermentation was introduced in Ayurveda before 5000 years ago in the form of Arishta/Asava when there were no Romans,Dutch,Portuguese etc. Even today many ayurvedic alcoholic preparations are done in mud pots. Draksharishta/Drakshasava is INDIAN traditional wine used by fully herbs even preservatives r also herbs, many use sulphites as preservatives used for thousands of years. Port wine, Sula are non comparable to the quality of draksharishta.
Unfortunately, i have tasted the Cazulo Feni (his product) and it falls short in front of many other local products. All his knowledge and process doesn't culminates into a good Feni. Irrespective, i am a fan of this man's knowledge.

This interviewer looks so bored! Not even asking any questions! I dislike interviewers who talk too much but this man is not even asking the right questions. And Mr Bas is so enthusiastic! Wonderful walk thru man!
Look at him in every episode.. no enthusiasm no high emotion .. You won't find person like him .. it's very rare . Whoever says anything with lot of centiments or hoping for same kind of respond gonna have a bad time. He just eats & feels everything in it .. He can't feel anything & I am dead serious about it . I am not talking about himself or anything personal with him . It's a personality read from my side
The host is awesome. The other three look like they are forced to be around. No comments , no probing, no question's... Or may be camera shy. Overall video was very informative.
My family used to be in feni production some 35 years back on large scale, we used to take large cashew plantation on auction from govt. Later production of cashew feni became unviable and as a result, our family shifted to other occupation. We used to have all those big jars in our old house but sadly family dispute ruined everything including the old house.
That's not entirely true, deep Villages in North Canara (Karnataka ) have people making alcohol from cashewfruit since ages. So Goa isn't the only place
If you closely notice GOA is situated kinda in North side of karnataka... its obvious/coincidence... why only specific region does that... ?? If you know migration and its effects than you have got a perfect example here....
If he was my teacher, I wouldn’t miss a class , he is awesome
thanks

What is the feni . Is it liquor ??
Yes it's feni, extracted from cashew fruit.
Uurak with limka with lime + 1 mirchi..
That's not entirely true, deep Villages in North Canara (Karnataka ) have people making alcohol from cashewfruit since ages. So Goa isn't the only place
