Best looking bike ever..... Most people who buy this bike won't be racing it.... So looks are everything... But it's nice to know that is super quick as well . And the sound.... Ducati has it in the bag.
Looking it over at the cycle show and could not yet see much to hop up on it.. It has a compression relief system to allow for a lighter starter and battery. On my older Duc I went from a 11.5 lb Yusa YB16 battery to a 2lb Shorai batter that cranks just as hard. Won't be losing 9lb with a battery change on this one. Maybe 5 lbs by going to a 1 lb Shorai? I suppose some more power and a further weight reduction could come from whatever full exhaust system Akrapovic or Termignoni develop.
Having tried the last generation of Ducati I did notice the steering being heavy but this is always going to differ greatly from a middleweight four's agility but, this again was last generation. I for one look forward to trying the bike that (apparently) will change the way we look at twins and would certainly not compare it to previous bikes in any format. If we compared all bikes to the cbr600rr we would all have to suffer gutless, friendly middleweights and would never experience any REAL
callin it now Panigale vs. EBR 1190RS yes they are different bikes one a production race bike and the other a limited edition racer for the street, but with similiar weights 390lbs vs. 375lbs and similiar power 196hp vs 185hp it would be an amazing showdown.
@chaosexpanding @3:40 it is a prototype bike.. Notice all the tape and other assorted camouflage on some of the shots. Real R&D bike footage not a production model. It could be paint or oil. Does not matter as that particular bike was built to develop and work out any issues before going into production. BTW.. I have two bikes. My '06 Suzuki leaked at bad from one gasket at 8,000 miles another at 10,000 and the '00 ducati only leaked a dribble from a sensor that was easily replaced.
Coming from someone who has ridden my share of brakes I'll say this: The 1198 should not be compared to the panigale as they are designed very differently. In fact, the only similarities it is meant to have is the fact that it's a twin (anyone who knows or owns twins knows the torque characteristics and are usually quite fond of the predictable drive from low revs, especially compared to a four cylinder), the badge and the colour. Having tried the last generation of Ducati I did notice the stee
@MotoGPatrick Thats how it looks, Casey is a fantastic rider too and his young and hungry. What your probably find is the bike suited Caseys riding style and not to mention all the other bikes were not as good as they are now. Rossi couldn't get on with it so he tried changing it. The engine was made slower but still no joy with chasis. Were have to wait until Ducati have got their act sorted with mass centralisation and new design till we truely know if Rossi can compete with Stoner.
@herculesinleathers i think you must have a lot of riding impresion to take a tour of this panigale1199. in some ducati rider's in superbike also take a change to their rider skill in their bike to make their bike faster.
@KOSKESH43 except that the MV was around before the 1198 so if anything the 1198 is an MV wanna be. But to be fair they are two different bikes, the 1198 is a track ready SBK, were the MV is a purely street uber-expensive work of art.
@motorcycleronin I might agree with this... The gp12 bike has gone aluminum deltabox style... My 01 R1 had a deltabox 2 frame... Lol... Ducati will get it right though... Rossi and hopefully Nicky will be on the podium this year...
Damn you ducati, you with this awesomely magnificent bike, making it impossible for me to even consider or look at other bikes, they all seem so primitive and 5 years ago now, damn you i say
@MotoGPatrick I personally believe alot of the bike riding is about feeling comfortable and as one with the machine. We are all different, I mean not everyone does the best with the same mouse on a game. I think its what you get on with. The Honda definately did the work last year with bike. Lets hope all the bikes are competative for 2012. I like Casey but would like to see Rossi win again. Maybe its just casey can ride more out of shape than anyone else. Best wishes to them all.
@MotoGPatrick Well you can't calve a piece of wood properly with blunt tools, Both rider and tool are as important but when tools are very close then the rider is allways most important, and this sounds like some tool. I own an 1198s and I definately want a test ride. The motogp isn't yet built right but this machine and Ducati knowing Twins with help from Rossi's riding feedback, plus Troys feedback is going to be the ultimate bike this year, I believe anyway. :) More than well done Ducati
I like the high pitch engine sound from japanese's bikes better... but for some reason I like this bike a lot better than my 2nd favourite which is the r6! Crazy huh??? :-0
@brealsoul I haven't ridden either so not really one to comment, maybe the paper stats on the Panigale are better, but every single review I see says the BMW is ahead by a long shot, and these are really experienced riders. Looks wise the Panigale is nothing special (I actually think the 999 and 996 are better looking bikes, but tail end is better on the Panigale) but your right, the BMW doesn't do any better with odd asymmetrical lights.
why are the cars and bikes when they are in initial testing phase all covered in black tapes and looking ugly??? is it not to reveal to cameras or is it coz they do the body work in final stages...???
Come on Troy! I wanna see you back on track riding this bike like a bitch towards another WSBK title! You know you want it. Retirement is so boring! Come back, WSBK is so dull without you.
@MrBigolnuts better in what? the bmw has less power hp/torque *170 hp at wheel and 180kg, the panigale 195 hp (stillto see at wheel) + 160 kg. and dont even go to the handling or looks area, lol bmw
If rossi didnt like how it rides.. y would some people think this bike is good.. iv ridden one to techy n very hard to operate... ill stick to my gsxr n s1000rr
That's because all you care about is "speed"... and "performance", I care about looks and engine sound, but maybe that's because I don't even know how to ride a bike or something :-0

Never really cared much for ducati but this bike right here is awesome!

come back to the race Troy, PLEASE!!!!

@benjyboba Casey Stoner sure carved up a masterpiece on that mount so it can't all be the bikes fault.
The ultimate Superbike of 2012 :)

@trilokram
Funny I thought rossi and burgress that do the development work ?
No comments at all! Fantastic, etc...
@lnromandude Filmed before the official release... Bike was incognito...
Ducati. Y u no continue desmosedici RR production so Bayliss can ride it in SBK?
my new favorite bike ... ahhhhhh :D
what's all the stuff they put on the body work?? it looks like a bunch of black sticky notes lol
awesome. just awesome. i gotta get one.....
2:46 30mm? i think they meant 30cm?
@jarjarlol It's a safety wire pliers. Look for "Safety wire" in Wikipedia.
@MotoGPatrick Well you can't calve a piece of wood properly with blunt tools, Both rider and tool are as important but when tools are very close then the rider is allways most important, and this sounds like some tool. 03:40 switch gears without need to press the clutch? whether superbikes like that??
I like the high pitch engine sound from japanese's bikes better... but for some reason I like this bike a lot better than my 2nd favourite which is the r6! Crazy huh??? :-0
@trilokram Hope rossi develops a riding style that suits the ducati....
is it a single rider bike?
sori for asking this noob question...
they really out did MV Agusta this time
The BMW S 1000RR is still better right?
@brealsoul I haven't ridden either so not really one to comment, maybe the paper stats on the Panigale are better, but every single review I see says the BMW is ahead by a long shot, and these are really experienced riders.

@ClownFight The saying "It is a bad craftsman who blames his tools comes to mind"
ชอบมาก ทุกอย่างลงตัวเป๊ะ สวยหรู แต่ไม่มีปัญญาซื้อ

@TurboNosHayabusa1 I agree !
Come on Troy! I wanna see you back on track riding this bike like a bitch towards another WSBK title! You know you want it. Retirement is so boring! Come back, WSBK is so dull without you.
questa moto mi ricorda molto valentino rossi...per me c'è molto del suo dentro questa moto!!
Rossi needs a panigale ;)
LOVE THE BIKE BUT NOT SO SURE I WOULD TRADE MY 1198 IN FOR IT. AND IF YOUR ON HERE DISLIKING DUCATI, THEN WHY EVEN LOOK AT THIS VIDEO
Ducati needs to start making 4 cylinders. (other than the desmosedici).
Imagine what full coverage insurance would be. If you financed this thing and payed for full coverage.........and then dropped it at the track........
I'd pretty much do anything for theis bike...
(Borgo) Panigale rules ! :)
The truth!
Ma perchè non la fate guidare a lui?? TORNA TROY!!!
@MrBigolnuts
better in what? the bmw has less power hp/torque *170 hp at wheel and 180kg, the panigale 195 hp (stillto see at wheel) + 160 kg.
and dont even go to the handling or looks area, lol bmw
11:05 - chain's too loose :)
If rossi didnt like how it rides.. y would some people think this bike is good.. iv ridden one to techy n very hard to operate... ill stick to my gsxr n s1000rr
This video pretty much tells you what you don't get with the 1198 :/
@trilokram I thought stoner was their man... maybe i got outdated
Dear Santa....
That's because all you care about is "speed"... and "performance", I care about looks and engine sound, but maybe that's because I don't even know how to ride a bike or something :-0
At 3:40, you can see engine oil covering the exhaust. Nothing to help Ducati's weak reliability reputation.
se va forte anche solo la metà di quanto è bella vince il mondiale!!!
Ehh.... funky how the 1199's all carbon chassis is pushing the limits on racing but I guess MotoGP is all about winning........
totally better than sex...
thumb this up so girls can see it
cazzo con una panigale cosi ,ci vuole un pilota cosi e basta
I don't know what you're on about mate.
Try insurance fraud?
That makes no sense
Lol, you're not the smartest tool in the shed :-(
