    Thank you for this! We're hard piping ours today because we're tired of all the soft hoses breaking at the worst times; never fails. This was really helpful.

    Would it mace sense to put a union before the ball valve for when the valve starts leaking you can easily replace it?

    • @TheRenaissanceBuilder
      @TheRenaissanceBuilder  Рік тому

      Hi Matthew thank you watching and commenting!
      So the point of the valve on the pool side then union is to make winterizing easy. You can get ballvalve/unions from the pool outfitters but there significantly more expensive.
      Also it’s usually pretty easy to put a stopper over the basket or nozzle to make changing the valves pretty easy

    Gracias my friends, I was looking to do this and glad its not an Intex pool video. I'm sick and tired of the damn flex hoses cracking at night while my filter pump is on, ruining the pump because there's no water and burning up the pump bearings ! ! ! AND the don't get me started on the hoses leaking at the clamps 👍👍👍

      Interesting, I hated those flex hoses for flow alone i did not realize they also went bad so fast. Thank you

    Hello thanks for the parts list. Quick question I want to move the pool filter away from the pool how far away can I move it away. And I’m going to bury the pvc pipe

      So the technical data for that is that each foot of pipe comes with a certain pressure drop in “feet of head” and the pump has an envelope of operating where the resistance to flow (or total feet of head) and the pump rpm combine to determine your water flow. So those two pieces of information would be needed for an engineering based answer.
      On the other hand, i see filter/pump skids mounted hundreds of feet away from pools all the time so unless you have a giant plot of land i doubt you are going to effect the flow much by putting it accross the yard or in a pump house.
      Keep in mind if you live in an area that freezes you are going to hafto clear those lines when you winterize

    I laid gravel (river rock) and am moving the pump/filter to the rock base to get rid of the mess from mud and weeds that we have every year. I never thought we would have the pool after the kids were married and moved away but here we are so I am simply cleaning up the pool area. At the same time I have bought the pvc to hard pipe the system (above ground pool). I am going to where the pipe come down out of the skimmer and up into the inlet, I am going to put about a foot of flex pipe. I noticed over the years, when my sons had their girlfriends over, or later their kids (strange how onething leads to the other) the walls of the pool will flex in and out when people are swimming or just horsing around. I am concerned that over time this could cause the connections to leak. The soft pipe (looking for soft/flex pvc) should allow for some flex in the piping system without putting pressure on the hard pvc. I never really considered the vibration of the pump but I will check today when the timer kicks the pump on. The Alabama sun is hard on equipment so this is our third pump in 12 years. This year I have plans to enclose the pump/filter this year to keep the weather off of the pump and maybe make it last a little longer. The pool is also salt water (use a solt cell) but we make an effort to spray salt off of the pump after we have worked on the connections.

    You seem pissed that you had to explain the parts list but while I have a bag of parts out in the garage just waiting for me to start hard piping, it is helpful to see what someone else used to help remind me that I might need another one of these or those. My set up will be a little more complicated as I am adding a sprayer near the inlet and a couple openings for a future (homebuilt) pool heater. Still, it does help to look at other set ups.

    Question for the crowd. Can you use silicone instead of the PVC cement to install all PVC pieces together ? This seems to me, like each individual connection would now have a slight cushion effect due to the silicone vs hard connection ? Bad/good idea ? Of course it would need 24 hrs or so of setup time before you could kick the pump on.

    • @tbell6154
      @tbell6154 5 місяців тому

      It could possibly work on the return side..........MAYBE.........But definitely notn on the pressure side !!

    • @TheRenaissanceBuilder
      @TheRenaissanceBuilder  5 місяців тому

      I do not recommend using silicone, the pvc glue is the best and the vibration isolation is unnecessary. The design of the double 90 joint allows for expansion and contraction of the pipe

    How did you connect the pump to the filter?

    • @TheRenaissanceBuilder
      @TheRenaissanceBuilder  7 місяців тому +1

      There is a factory supply coupling between the pump and the filter.

    It looks like the skimmer and return are fairly close together in this video. I'm new to pool work, but I thought they should be distanced to be the most effective..

    guys its schedule 40 pipe with the standard types of fittings.. get a length of straight pipe at size you want and measure center of where water coming from to center of where it is going and you got 22.5 degree 45 degree and 90 degree angle fittings account for the 1.5inch of length going into a fitting for 2 inch pipe and guesstimate only the length but you should know your angle needed and you can make it complex or simple just know where the pump is and filter is and how and how many bends using those degrees and straight pipe to make a connection cut the straight to length prime and cement your prefitted to make sure it works pipe and go quick you can put your pump on one side of the pool and the filter in the neighbors yard if you want and make crop circles with angled fittings or set it nearby and not look like a fool demanding a part list.. go to the hardware store plumbing section and hold some pipe...

    Just because every pool is different doesn't mean you CAN'T/WON'T tell us what part list YOU used . I think it's shady af to do a how to vid and flat out refuse to give out the parts you used . And you keep repeating it over and over . We get it . HAVING SAID ALL THAT , if it's utube that is making you say that , then be a stand-up guy and TELL US THAT .

      Well your having a good day arent ya.
      Try to think of the other end of that argument, if i give out an exact parts list then every person responds with “that didn’t work on my pool you hafto do it different”.
      The entire point of my channel is to help people understand that they can do stuff themselves, and part of that includes figuring out what you need for your own application.
      I believe you are intelligent enough to take my suggestions and make your own system.
