Today on Game Genie Review I will be taking a look at the Ms. Pac-Man Arcade1up. Well one of the versions of it anyways as there were several versions with a slightly different assortment of games. I got the QVC version that included Dig Dug and the Light Up Front Panel, Did Arcade1Up do a good job with this cab or is it a miss?

The patch is available and includes Dip Switches that allow you to change the settings including changing ms pacman to the fast version I remember from the arcade.
The patch making the cabinet much much better.
How do you purchase the “Dip” or is it an update?

Ms Pacman now this game brings back some memories. As a kid no matter how much I played I never beat even the first level
I was terrible as a kid at Ms. Pac-Man. But after a lot of practice.....I'm still terrible but i have a lot of fun playing

Hoping that update comes out soon! We shouldn't really have to deal with this with as big as 1up is. The volume isn't right either. I have the same cab you have Mike. I love it but C'mon 1Up!

Great review Michael as always! This cab looks so fantastic! Im glad to hear they are fixing the filtering issue but yeah that start up issue you are getting is definitely strange. I havent looked to see if this is happening to others with this cab that has the light up ms pacman part below the control deck. Would be interesting to see
I finally bought an Arcade1Up when they came out with the Class of '81 Ms. Pac-Man / Galaga machine. Finally one machine with many of the classic games I really wanted.
This might be covered somewhere, but I am wondering if it has the speed mod version on it? That's always been my favorite way to play this game dating back to finding them in Holiday Inn's throughout the country!

That sucks you have the same side panel damage. Lucky it’s not a lit but I may still put in a ticket. It shouldn’t come like this
Great review Mike! Lookin a little gray there in the beard bud! Haha, trust me am right there with you. I have the Best Buy version, with Dig Dug, Super Pac, and Galaxian (which is a repeat for me because I have the Galaga cab). Like you, am not into all the light up stuff, just the marquee which is why I chose this version. That start up is the same on my cab, I think it’s just the way it was recorded. I guess we’ll see if it gets fixed, I don’t think it’s anything to worry about tho. Keep up the great reviews, Star Wars next!
Nice video! 👍 I'm in the US in Ohio and I got the same Ms Pac-Man version that you did with the light up front panel. Got mine from HSN back in October. I know that there's an update, not sure if it's only ready for the cocktail cab or if this one is ready. I'm afraid to even mess with these after receiving my OutRun that doesn't work. Also seeing UA-camrs that got messed up Ms Pac-Man updates. Flipped screens? Are you planning to get the update? If so I hope that you do a video. I like the screen effect that Ms Pac-Man came with. Looks like how I remembered it back in the 80s.

Great review! I got the same version at the Brick on release. Sorry to hear about your issues, this is my first a1up can, and I love it. I was disappointed that the box was a plain brown box with black text, but you know the Canadian label regulations make french mandatory, so small price to pay. Thanks for representing Canadian a1up collectors.
I can confirm after the firmware update that the Miss Pac-Man cocktail cabinet not only has two new games, for a total of 10, but no screen filtering at all. I'm not sure if it had filtering before because I updated it 2 days after owning it, but the colors are really crisp and everything pops. I compared it with my 40th Anniversary edition and it is night and day.
I am getting this for 2 hundred bucks at Walmart for my girlfriend's kids for Christmas they are going to LOOOOOVE it.

Great review as always Michael. Ms Pacman with the speedchip is my favorite flavor of Ms Pac so I will pass on this cab. Also filtering is aweful for retro games in my opinion. If I ever see it on sale this version would be the cab I would choose to mod. The art is so iconic. The blue cab makes Ms. Pac the queen of the arcade as you say. So true.
yeah the screen filtering is such a weird decision especially after they already took it on the chin with the Pac-Man 40 cab. There is a firmware fix coming that is going to add settings to remove the filter and maybe even add speed settings
Agreed sir. I don't even consider regular Ms Pac-Man MS pac-man. Ms Pac-Man fast is the true Ms Pac-Man for me

Great review Michael. Thanks for the video. The cab looks great. I would like it in my arcade but as always, got to take space into consideration, especially since I already have Pac-Man 40th; maybe when it's on sale.
Great review and I’m glad you mentioned the joystick issue as before I even watched the video I was wondering if you would have one as well - I’ve never had an problem with a stock a1up joystick before but whether it’s software or the actual stick, it’s unresponsive at times making it unplayable. Plus the screen filtering looks awful. The actual cabinet is absolutely beautiful! Hoping an update fixes these issues but until then I’ve stopped playing it.
im personally wondering why arcade 1 up keeps making the cabinets the height they have with seperate risers, ive seen no one get them without them so might as well build them a bit higher from now on.
They are 3/4 on purpose.

I just played Pac-Mania on an old Windows 7 tower running Launchbox which is going in my Space Invaders Arcade 1up cabinet. It actually changes boards after you complete each maze. I got to the 3rd or 4th one. Pretty fun game.
I picked up the Ms. PacMan Countercade and have it on a speaker stand in the corner of the arcade so it is at about the same height as the other cabs in the room
i got mine from qvc here in the states. it has the light up on the controls also. i like it a lot but sometimes the joystick is hard to use for ms pacman. i end up not going in the right direction.
I was able to get the cocktail version but your version would have been my second choice. Thanks for the video.

My favorite version of dig dug is the 2600 version. Gameplay is super fast. This cabinet looks great. I have 3 arcade1up countercades(Pac-Man 40th, Ms. Pac HSN version, and frogger). Like these due to my space limitations.
Solid review. I had a finicky stock stick with my Pac-Man Plus QVC cab. It wouldn't register right direction at times. Hated that because i couldn't get competitive with my high score..the stick was causing deaths..very frustrating. I replaced the stick and it was the best thing i did. Much much more enjoyable. The stock stick also had too big a dead zone and slop. Arcade1Up should really use better sticks imo. How much do they really want to save or make on a cab ffs lol. Sanwa sticks cost under 30 bucks. For them it can probably be even cheaper with getting a deal and purchasing hundreds at a time with a company. Anyway....loving my Pac Plus cab.

@@MichaelBtheGameGenie It chimes the first time when I pick the game and then on the instruction screen when your supposed to press the 1 player it doesn't chime. Is that what you mean?

I bought the 40th anniversary edition, I’ve had it for 3 weeks and now I can’t play the fast version with 5 lives! Is this fixable? I googled it and a few others have had same issue
I have the Ms. Pac Man 40'th anniversary counter cade I love it. Because it's the right size for me I already have my Galaga quarter scale from NumSkull I'm thinking about getting myself another one the Marvel vs Capcom counter cade.

I bought one at Wal-Mart today for $299 but it has no riser. Also, it has 4 games but not Dig-Dug. It's actually for my daughter so we won't open til Christmas but I'm pretty sure the top dont light up. Did I buy the cheap version? It is Arcade1Up Ms. Pac-Man.

You should talk to Arcade 1up about your problems with the start up problems. That isn't normal for this cabinet at all.
Can you change to a different game without turning the cabinet off then on again?
Yes. Hold the one player button for 5 seconds and it will go back to the main menu

the artwork is great. gameplay? agh. 60-1 pcb jamma in a real cabinet anyday ( you get fast ms. pacman and fast shooting galaga that way). i think you can buy original cabinet art decals online, and you can buy an old cabinet for 200.00 or less with a real crt vertical monitor. 35.00 for a jamma board and like 19.99 for a harness and maybe replace the old joystick with a nice 4 way to 8 way stick and some new nice buttons... 50.00.. whats that?? 310.00-320.00?? real arcade cabinet, 60 real arcade games. its the way to go. but yeah, this unit does look really nice. actually, along with tempest legacy, tron, and star wars, this is a top 4 for A1up in the looks department.

While I haven't had a ghost issue in my Ms. Pacman cabinet (or problems getting the game/marquee to turn on), i do have a slight default in the presentation. When my wife and i were putting it together, we were sitting on the floor as we were putting in some screws, and my wife didnt realize that the plastic deck protector was right behind her, so when she leaned back, she sat on it and we heard a pop. So yeah...now there's a crack in our deck protector. Haha. We don't really even notice it anymore though, but holy crap, she felt awful at the time.
Dig Dug also became her favourite game on the cab, even though she spent a lot of her childhood playing a small home version of Ms. Pacman (kinda like the Numskull one but of lesser quality). I also kind of wish their was a continue option in Ms. Pacman since I believe I could continue from my lamaze I got to in the XBLA version. I do get the exclusion though since it's a high score chaser and something like that could break the game, but it is a super hard game on it's own, and so far we haven't been able to make it past the third maze type yet.
I guess that Arcade1up doesn't test their items before shipping. I've had a non working OutRun since it arrived on Black Friday out of the box. I got it working for a few days and it stopped working again. I'd probably put in a ticket if I were you. Only the power switch works on my OutRun, no other controls will work. When I power on OutRun the marquee and screen turn on and the volume automatically turns itself to zero everytime at the Arcade1up screen. Buttons, wheel, shifter, and pedals do nothing. I put in a ticket, been waiting for over a week for a new ribbon cable. I'm pretty upset, hope that the ribbon cable solves the problem. Good luck brother. I wish that I had waited and bought this from a retail store instead. I'm stuck with a broken OutRun at the moment.

Arcade a up did a bad job on ms Pac-Man making the voice very quiet it’s not HD like Pac-Man the ms Pac-Man arcade machine I own at home are way much better then the arcade 1 up
I hate these because Pac-Man is wayyyy slower compared to the original arcade machine. Was a deal breaker for me
Sounds like you have a weak power supply. I have fixed tons of vintage computers and games, and this is usually the case. Reach out to Arcade1Up and request a new power supply.

You should never have to say "other than that" or "despite those issues" after you've spent as much as you have on that cab. It's unacceptable.
P.S. everyone knows ms.pacman is more fun (better) than pacman.. except for some Canuk's i guess LOL. j/k
