I appreciate this review. It is interesting that neither of these will do medium rare. I have seen video's about the dreo chefmaker and just recently came across the typhur dome so glad to see this comparison.

I think both machines just need to tweak the algorithms to get proper doneness. Not sure if you noticed in some of the B-roll shots - I used a Meater meat probe to compare how both brands fared, and each time, the Meater app would tell me to get the meats away from the heat, while the fryers just kept cooking for a couple of minutes more.

I think his steak was a little on the skinny side. The manual for the Dreo recommends the meat be at least 1" thick to use the chef function with the probe. You can also set the internal temperature of the meat using the probe function. I think it would have turned out perfectly had he done it that way.

Thanks for watching! Yeah, the Dreo is pretty dope. (But I STILL don't know which I'd keep, lol)

Dreo is definitely probe position sensitive. Not great for thin cuts ir thick cuts, but great for 1.5 inches or so. Definitely try some of the longer cooks as well, such as short ribs, to get a sense of how good it can be.
Kinda surprised about the smoke issues you were facing. Our smoke alarm goess off if you look at it wrong but the dreo hasn't seemed to trigger it.

Interestingly, I frequently cook with a Meater probe with the same batch and even when I ignore the Dreo and follow the Meater's guide, steaks tend to be slightly past medium rare as well.

I got the Chefmaker on Kickstater for less than £200 so its an no brainer for me. Also, for steaks you should use the elavated rack. Tho user friendly cooking space on the Typhur is far better, if I want a chicken I'll use my smoker.

Under £200? Cor, what a deal.

@@TheNonTechieTechShow yeah $199 for the early bird deal so only £159 and because there was a delay to the UK due to safety regs/testing they paid the 20% import tax! Now how good is that for a kickstarter company?
Couldn’t be happier with mine, but yeah I do wish it was wider, despite it fitting great on the worktop as it is.

I make Chinese roast pork with Air fryer, 205C /20mins, then 165 c/20mins. I 'd go for the Dome .

Funny you say that - they actually have a char siu recipe in the app that you can send to the Dome.

I think the probe is inserted at the wrong position

How so? The single sensor in the probe shaft is within 1/4 inch from the tip.

That’s why you don’t get medium rare
