- Retired MMA fighter RJ Clifford is back again with another Experts React video. This time he is reacting to such games as Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Def Jam Fight for NY, The Warriors, Sleeping Dogs, and the last but not least Yakuza 5 Remastered. He is observing and explaining the gameplay as well as technical aspects of the games from the early 00’s and how fighting games evolved till today. Featuring some vicious moves, takedowns, and even combo attacks with deadly finishing, RJ praises the games’ developers for the extraordinary work they produced when releasing these games! Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a first-person action-adventure game in which the player takes control of Faith Connors as she progresses through a futuristic city named Glass. Through the first-person perspective, combine her fluid movement and advanced combat with the city's surroundings to master the environment and uncover the conspiracy.
The gameplay of Def Jam Fight for NY is expanded from the original game, which was primarily a wrestling game. It emphasizes the use of the game's various environments and the surrounding crowd to cause damage. Tossing the opponent against barriers gives fighters an opportunity to inflict massive damage to their opponent by slamming them into the wall headfirst, ramming a door or gate in their face, or using other features of the environment.
The Warriors is an action-adventure survival game that focuses heavily on brawling. Several minor gameplay elements are mixed into the experience, such as the ability to use spray paint to mark turf or to insult other people. Combat in The Warriors occurs in real-time and involves pressing buttons to initiate attacks by the on-screen character.
Sleeping dogs, similar to the GTA series is an open world and martial arts action-adventure game played from a third-person perspective. The player controls martial arts commando Wei Shen, a Chinese-American police officer who goes undercover and ventures out on a raid to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad organization.
Yakuza 5 Remastered really feels like a culmination of everything that came before it into this one huge, bursting at the seams Yakuza package. The battle system was upgraded with new special techniques such as Kazuma Kiryu - Dragon Spirit, Taiga Saejima - Tiger Puppetry, Shun Akiyama - Launch Strike, Tatsuo Shinada - My Meteor Tackle as well as Dance Battle with numerous styles and Heat Action.
In any case, you cannot fully appreciate these games if you don’t try to play them.

Def Jam Fight For NY still slaps till this day, one of the best fighting games ever made.
Def Ja FFNY:The takeover would suit this video better as the final entry before ICON they implemented ground game elements into that game.

Sleeping Dogs is so underrated. If they made more it'd be a serious competitor to GTA. It in every way had more interesting hand to hand combat, shooting is fun but sometimes you want to fight someone with combat that is more interesting and fun. Damn shame we'll never see another Sleeping Dogs

@Brupcat simply because of the counter mechanic. Same with Spider-Man. Even though the actual combat in all 3 games are completely different.
You should have martial artists react to Judgement’s combat. I feel like they’d love Yagami’s Kung Fu

12:57 actually fun fact here there's a spin off to yakuza called kurohyou (Yakuza black panther) that involves a somewhat plotpoint involving the protagonist getting involved in something similar in an MMA styled fighting ring that was owned by you guessed it the Yakuza which I think ended up getting shut down in the games story (Im assuming since I dont know much.). And the way the story is and the combat is very similar to the old pride fighting championship.
I can't explain how much i wanted to see him address Akiyama's fighting style from Yakuza, I'm pretty big into kicks and love how he does them

Finally some Warriors gameplay! There needs to be a whole video dedicated to it. There is so much more to the fighting and has unique styles for each main Warriors members.
I'd love to see him react to more Tekken. The sheer variety of fighting styles is simply perfect for him.

The PSP version of Def Jam Fight for NY has grips on the ground, in case you're interested in seeing it one day.
The game Mad Max has some very brutal hand to hand combat that is not ridiculous or to fast to really watch. That would be interesting to see someone like this watch those fights.

So, technically it's not a game but it does feature multiple characters from two popular games, but I would love to see either martial artists or even the MMA fighter react to the dead fantasy series. I'm surprised there haven't been any martial artists who have reacted to it yet, at least not that I could find on youtube, but it would be super interesting to see the breakdown on the choreography and the moves. Specifically I think you should have them focus on episode 3 (Tifa vs Hitomi), but also some minor focus on episodes 1 and 2 (the 4v4 battle). Also including a bit of episode 6 wouldn't be bad either. Would be super psyched to see this, and think others would be as well since it's a quite a gem on youtube.

The Defjam games were built on the Aki engine, which was designed for WWE wrestling games. It is a common thing in wrestling to pick an opponent up to perform more throws and attacks, hence it became part of the Defjam system which is basically a wrestling game.

Also, if it'll make RJ feel better, the PSP version of Def Jam FFNY subtitled The Takedown does include plenty of ground and pound and submissions once your opponent is down! No more silly picking them off the floor (although it's still an option)
