I wish that I had enlisted when I was young enough.
I served as a paramedic for a little over ten years, helped thousands of civilians - mostly my neighbors.
The military is definitely not for everyone but, at 38 years old, I am wishing that I had tried.
To those that serve, considering serving, and our veterans - thank you. ♥

In the old days the recruits on base would chant "you'll be soooooorrrryyyy" as the bus went by. Now the bus arrives at about 2am... brings back memories.

Where is there buckets? That was what we carried all the shit around in. We lost all our civilian clothes in contraband there we wore utility trousers, white sneakers and a yellow sweatshirt. We didn’t get the rest of our uniforms until platoon was formed.

They go to a school to become Drill Instructors...it's part of their act. They even train them how to yell and keep their voices loud and to drink water, etc. Most DI's lose their voice and that is why they sound so raspy.

Woman and men do not go through boot camp together. There are woman in all of the Branches. Maybe not good looking woman but there are.
