      the majority of vaulted content is returning in final shape / post-final shape, or so the grape vine says, you'll be able to install chunks of game like mcc provided you have the space.
      but do take this with a big grain of salt.

      It's pretty much an abusive relationship that has me feeling that bungie itself has no fucking clue why the first destiny worked

    I had an idea, to help remedy the vaulting issue: Releasing the removed campaigns(just the story missions and patrol zones, not the strikes or raids) as standalone, offline, single player/couch co-op games. Depending on the level of effort they'd want to put in maybe even have any weapons/pickups you want to keep transfer to the live game.
    Or if they want to keep it in the D2 ecosystem, maybe like the raid/dungeon rotator or the future exotic mission rotator, have the old campaigns cycle to be replayable for a season or so. Could even put in D1 stuff like TTK or RoI and appropriate loot for those.

      I love that first idea. I always wished Destiny 2 had an offline mode, so that sounds like a dream come true for me.

      I think it would just be great if they made it optional, so that if you could spare extra storage space like I can you can download it if you want to replay older content.

      I think this is a marketing scheme by Bungie or there masters.
      When the Destany story is finished Bungie will release all the campaign as some kind of collective saga. Deleting the old campaign for now is a way to force people to buy new content and letting the cutseans and game play stay online is a way to draw in people.
      So when the old campaigns are all rereleased people will buy them to exspains it.

    I'm in similarly unorthodox as you when it comes to Destiny 2. Played all of Destiny 1. Played a fair bit of Destiny 2 when it first came out but was disappointed in the story and cosmetics at the time. Touched on various DLCs here and there but always failed to get back into it. Missed out on Cades death and now feel like I more than ever could not get into Destiny 2 even if I really wanted to.
    The only way I can see the sun setting as a sort of... Positive experience is one that not everyone can share. One where players who played the original story could tell new players as if they are new awakened Guardians being told stories from the ones who came before.
    Only this is heavily role play inspired and I don't think most Destiny players would interact like that. (I WOULD) but still, it isn't enough of a "unique experience" to have them sunset so much paid content like they did.

    • @calvinfishermedia
      @calvinfishermedia  Рік тому +1

      Definitely! The one positive about sunsetting that it creates “had to be there” moments, which can certainly create a special bond with the game.
      Glad I could speak to a similar situation to your own. Thanks for watching!

    They made the game extremely unfriendly to new and returning players. Whenever I try to get back into it, all my favorite gear is now worth nothing cause of the light increase, and every other player feels as though they have been grinding all day every day. My buddy said and I agree with him, they should have ended the game much earlier, that’s why he still loves Destiny one, because it’s actually a complete game

    • @calvinfishermedia
      @calvinfishermedia  Рік тому

      Yeah, the cycle is really tiring when you grind out a season to get really cool gear, and then it meaning nothing when you return. It’s definitely one of the reasons I stopped playing consistently.

    Hey man sorry it took so long to catch up on this video but I will say the story of Destiny 2 is one that I have not really bothered to explore all that much. I've played the game extensively when I was able to get it for free but even then I find that the first Destiny strived so much better on all sides. It was the first of its franchise and overall I just miss playing the original Destiny. Great times...

    I think that Destiny should look at Elder Scrolls Online for how to make a MMO story easy to join.
    In ESO, there's a tutorial that's a story of its own. At the end, you can choose to play one of the 3 storylines from the base game, or start one of the expansions storylines. You can do them in any order since they're all independant stories, although with recurring characters. It's way better for new players.
    ESO is better for new players than FFXIV because you can join at the release of a new expansion and play at the same time than veteran players, which is amazing.

    • @calvinfishermedia
      @calvinfishermedia  Рік тому

      I really like ESO too, and I enjoy how you can play the latest expansions without having to go through all prior expansions. I think the one drawback to this approach is because ESO’s expansions are fairly isolated, they don’t build much off of each other narratively, and you don’t end up with the grand arc that ff14 has. Definitely a way easier onboarding process though, and there are pros and cons to both approaches. I could see either being used to benefit D2!

    • @TheZamaron
      @TheZamaron 10 місяців тому

      One problem I have with ESO is that you can't replay the stories, at least with the singleplayer games I can mod them to max out my character from the start if I just want the story. I can't do that with ESO, they need a story replay option.

    while i do agree the immediate cutscene of every after you log in for the second time is annoying and bad move, most of the content that they are describing / recapping is old seasonal content that you can't play, other than that great video
    edit the tower from the new light tower mission is a time capsule, no content was vaulted since it was made, they just haven't updated the roster, location
    edit 2 electric boogaloo: IIRC it was so that destiny 2 didn't become too big file size wize

    Time to delete this game and forget it ever existed

    This sounds like a much needed angry rant after a weekend of kicking that tail kicked in trials!! 😅😂 Calm down my man all good things must come to an end. No one plays games a decade later, not with any real meaning. I also don't understand how you can make an angry rant about how awful Bungie is as a company but you look forward to supporting them with Marathon.... Why??? You clearly laid out why they don't wanna support any games in perpetuity so why even bother with Marathon when it's launch begins the countdown to it's end and it starts feeling neglected like D2?
