The race depicted is the Monaco F1 Grand Prix which takes place around the streets of Monte Carlo (southern French coast) - there is even a French motorcycle cop depicted. Madrid, Spain is land-locked so the yachts would have to be trucked in. 😁
What they said!
Definitely Monaco as I have been there and it is the most famous of all the GP races as it is the only one to be held on City streets like is shown here and is also super glamourous apparently...
Not only is this kind of place a tinkerers dream, memories are being preserved for many many people. Thanks for your work.
Awesome repair series. This whole series was very helpful. Thanks.
Thank you for watching Pauz, glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like fun you did a great job on it as always. The customer is going to be very happy.
They loved it! Thanks for watching Joe HamRadioGuy!
I love watching with the lights on and off. Good job boys.
The artwork represents the Monte Carlo Grand Prix.
I really enjoyed seeing you guys play together. Reminds me of going to the local arcade back in the day.
Thanks for the videos!
Thank you for watching Vince, I appreciate you hanging out with us!
I can see the paint repairs but only because I knew where they were from your earlier video. Great Job!
Thank you Donald, glad you enjoyed it!
I’m 66 years old so these are a trip down memory lane.❤️
Thank you for watching Jeffrey!
I think its every kids dream from the 60's to the 80's to own their own pinball machine and arcade...
Turned out great! Very lively on all the rubbers, that thing plays fast!
This machine turned out great. …. Outstanding touch-up of the playfield. Great to watch you and Matt just hanging out having fun on the pinball. …. just like the good old days. Thanks for the work and for posting.
Thank you for watching Mark we appreciate it as always! We'll have another machine soon...
The back glass with the racing cars, boats in a harbout, tall buildings, and the hills. I think the designer was depicting the Monaco Grand Prix.
What a fantastic machine! 👍👍
One of the best EM's, in terms of sheer throw the kitchen sink in it :)
I have been playing this for a few years now down at the local mini golf. You are right about being able to get really high scores. This is my favorite pinball machine. Thank you for sharing!
It's a really well done game, by this point they weren't trying to be skimpy with the scores :) Thanks for watching Orlando!
Hello from Brasil, what a cool game. When I was young I was an addicted player. I found you Channel and I appreciate a lot you fixing this "Beasts". I love it
At Joe's, when the lights go down, the party is just beginning...
Usually if I want something automotive fixed, I head over to Donnie's Engine Repair and Sink Emporium, but I reckon you'll do in a pinch.
Wonderful job on this machine! She's practically new.
Thank you Kate, we appreciate you watching both channels, ha
It’s lovely to hear you talking so enthusiastically. I’m not correcting you, but the image on the Grand Prix must be a representation of Monaco - as mentioned by others.
Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Awesome job!
Thank you Guy, we appreciate it!
looks great
If I remember right there was one Williams game back in the early '60s which had seven score reels for one player.
Great job, you are the best!
Thank you Marcelo that's very nice of you to say
@@LyonsArcade The restoration that you do is a fascinating art, especially for those of us who like pinball and arcades and also for those of us who have one and are just starting out in the art of restoring them.
Greetings from Chile.
Thanks Ron!
Thanks for watching Bill!
Fun fact, there is a formula one team called Williams Racing :) Their colours are white, blue and red just like on the "bottom" where the rules are, and the side art.
Awesome job fellas! I want it!
Aztec is also a great game...more of a shooter's game where this one is all about blasting those awesome spinners!!
SS spinners can never be as good...maybe if they had a good digital sound effect with only the score reel sound at first, and as it slows, adding the chimes back in, so you know you nailed it really well.
Awesome job! Agreed this is one of the greatest EMs. I think I like Capersville just a tad better but like you said ... for a great fast game you can't beat Grand Prix.
Imagine being in a room with 40-50 pinball machines all being played. Those were the "Good 'ol Days."
Is there any way you could repaint the front of the case? That "Start" button is lookin' kinda worn.
We used to play a pinball machine all day in one arcade as it had a ball trap up top with a points switch and a shoot out actuator that was malfunctioning, So when it tried to shoot the ball out it would just make it past the gate if you left it alone, but if you stood by it and banged the machine as it shot the ball weakly it would wobble the ball, thus making sure it wouldnt have enough puff to get out past the gate back into play thus falling back scoring again and we'd do that for special every time then play the rest of it normal to make sure we only ever spent only one coin all day. as we had no money, as we were just young punks with nothing better to do than play the thing. But it kept us out of worse trouble...
So we were always worried some guy like you would show up and fix it but they never did as the bloke that ran the place was a cheapskeate as thats why it was broke to start with...Used to own a Blast Off...great machine, although not for long. Love pinball machines, play them whenever and whereever I see them...love your channel, just hearing those chimes on those old mechs makes my heart come alive...
My OCD approves the symmetry of this machine.
The flippers are shifted slightly to the left because of the shooter lane
@@LyonsArcade They could have added another shooter lane on the left side to fix that 😄
3 likes. One for Matt, Ron and the machine! Doesn’t take many spinner shots to jack up the score.
Thank you for watching Dan! See you on the next one...
Cool
was the battery low in the camera
Pointy people look great!
Yeah it's my favorite :)
I believe Argosy was the last 4 player dedicated EM from Williams.
The modern day pinball machines have a video screen down below. That's what the Williams "Gilligan's Island" pinball machine has. Too bad that there was nothing about "Gilligan's Planet." It's a real misfortune just how many people hated it. I was thinking of Willie Gilligan having a sour expression on his face: Whenever Teresa Dortch brings great harm to him. 🏝
Turning the lights off is how they are meant to be played. If I recall rightly, virtually all Pinball Arcades were pretty dimly lit. No one would put lights on the machines if they were not meant to be seen.
Back in the day when I played, it was either at a bowling alley where it was kind of dim, or in an arcade where the lights were out. The only lights in the place were from the machines... we had a few arcades inside bowling alleys too where it was a separate room, and they always had the lights out as well. I can remember playing at the skating rink and the lights were out, and I can remember playing at the movie theatre and it was dark in the area the games were in. I guess everywhere wasn't like that, but everywhere I went was... thanks for watching as always Brendan!
4:50 Monaco Grand Prix
I have a Gulf Breeze - pointed people deluxe
The only pinball machine I have in my house is a Beat Time, the pointy people are my favorite style...
So why does that dartboard on the wall keep moving up and down ? It was pretty low in a previous video.
Not everything in life has a good reason or any reason at all
@@LyonsArcade thought you were just checking to see if we were paying attention. 😎
Man!! First it’s age that machine flies! What angle have you got the playfield on this EM? Any tips on getting pops and flippers to kick that fast?
I don't ever measure the angle, I just put the front feet all the way up and the back feet most of the way out, LOL The pop bumpers and flippers on this game are ran off of DC voltage which they only did on the last few years of EM's, so any Grand Prix pinball machine is going to play just like this if it's set up properly.
Maybe the scene is Monaco? They do have a Formula 1 race there...
When you were playing it seemed to me that the left saucer didn't kick the ball out at the same velocity as the right one causing the ball to have more of a chance of draining down the middle
o.k.
@28:38 And that's not everything.... You miss points for the rollover AND a potential extra game.... this is hardcore pinball :-D
A lot of people see things like that, and think "oh I don't like that" but one of the things that makes a game fun, is the way you can potentially lose the ball! They wouldn't be any fun without outlanes, I never understood why people don't get that. I get games in all the time where they blocked off the outlanes, lol what in the world
Monte Carlo - Monaco
Bumping and knocking the table without tilting it, or as you americans call it using "English" on the table is the dark art of playing pinball well...Also I believe you guys call putting side on a pool or snooker ball is also known as using "English"...Whereas smashing the glass is known as using your head...lol...Also one of the dark arts of pinball is the setup, getting the table at just a right angle so all the shots play right off the flippers and the ball isnt flying too fast onto the flippers to control it properly. Good flipper defense is also an art and knowing when and how to make those winning shots like the lane shots is the key. This machine doesnt really have a lot of shots, just the lanes and the drop targets and the holes really, but its old and was the last of the line
before some bright spark thought up upper playing fields, extra flippers, both with their own button and with the same button, metal ramps and ball runs like on High Speed and then the mentalness that was PInbot and Bride of Pinbot...
Multiball mania then kicked in and the thing was talking at you as well...the one we used to play alot was based around Pool and would always say "Quit talking and start Chalkin;" and would also comment "too much english" if you tilted it...lol...
That did turn out great. Matt anit a bad player either.
Matt's a good guy he comes by and bugs me all the time
Hello
Hello Lil Everette!
Isn't it Monte Carlo?
In what TV series do they go to Lake Winnipesaukee to steal a rich person's inoperable Spacecraft?
I think those kick out holes need some work as they are busting the ball back into play so weakly that it is just feeding it down the middle where the flippers can't save you, expecially on the left hand side. Infuriating when that happens as you know everytime you score that, its over for that ball unless you wobble the whole thing as it pops it out but then you risk tilting it...
I heard some pretty bad claims about stern and their machines and how their milk in their customers out of money and how they only giving you are such a short warranty on such a Expensive pinball machine only on new ones
