Awesome content. Thanks
Carmine was, and still is a great self promotor. His clinics were huge events that had big press, not just word of mouth from other drummers.
Bonham did very few interviews sadly, but his unfortunate passing cemented his legend for all time
There were drummers way way way more talented than me who asked me for tips on certain beats or strange drum rolls they were having trouble with. And I actually couldn`t believe it because I looked up to them in awe. I taught one guy the Rosanna beat who actually attended a college drum convention for the top drummers and Carmine was there and he got to talk drumming/drummers with him. After I showed him Rosanna he returned later with a recording of him playing it with a band and in one part he said, "You can`t tell but I dropped a stick right there."
Whether he did or didn't he cant let enough people know
Lots of the jazz guys were doing the triplet combos before Bonham. Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Alan Dawson etc. Bonham did it a lot more aggressively.
True, but who did it better Carmine or John?
Hey, Carmine are you saying if died young that you would be a legend? 😂😂
Didn't Carmine discover Elvis too? It seems like in most interviews he brings up these things, and takes a lot of credit. Carmine is a great drummer. Talk about Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart, and your other accomplishments instead.
People say Carmine Appice brags too much. But everything he says about himself can be backed up by historical facts! He's just the Forrest Gump of rock walking through history and making it happen! And if John Bonham were alive, he would absolutely back up everything Carmine says to the extent that he would even call Carmine a better drummer than him. And all of John Bonham's followers would have no choice but to agree!
Is his last name pronounced Ah-Peace or Ah-pi-see? I have heard both ways.
