- Do have an old Android tablet that’s just sitting in a drawer? Well bring it out and put it to good use! There are a number of cool things you can do with Android tablets to bring them out of the tech graveyard. If you have kids you can set up a restricted profile on Android 4.3 and higher and give it to them to use for school and only have access to the programs you want. With some free software you can also turn your tablet into a baby cam, dedicated e-reader, or even a digital photo frame. For the DSLR people you can turn an old Android tablet into a monitor to preview your shots.

Maybe not great, but surly enough for a security cam, and better than a lot of them.
I love to use the old tablets and cellphones for mp3 players. Plug them into computer speakers and they work great.
When the play store doesn’t work and chrome doesn’t work because the security is outdated

I just found Splashtop Wired XDisplay to use my old Nexus 7 as a second monitor that I'm going to put into a PC case mod.
Also found Sunnyside Soft VirtualTablet for my Samsung Tab A to make it work as a graphics tablet.

I use an older tablet as a display in my truck and mounted it on the dash. I use it to play music, for maps, and so on. My truck doesn't have built in wifi so I use a receiver plugged into the lighter socket and have it connected to my FM radio via bluetooth. You simply keep it plugged in when the vehicle is in use to keep it charged.
You can also connect that tablet to an older cell phone that is hooked up to the rear window and have your own backup cam system.
You can use them as digital clocks and calendar permanently put them on charge
tried to make an old smartphone of mine into a music player. used it like thrice. now i have two such smartphones collecting dust.
so stupid to have high tech laying around like that without being able to think any use for them.
Look for SETI, cancer research or other NGO that needs processing power for a good cause. Then download the app and let them use that.

Or you could install roms and try and make it like new again. Like give it a new version of android Unless your phone/tablet does not have roms for it’s self. You could also make it a emulation machine for emulating games from some old consoles.

5 steps:
1 Factory reset
2 Do NOT enter a google account. If it does not update, it won't go old
3 Use some APKs.
4 Use a light browser
5 Enjoy it as new... batteries last longer than software. To replace a battery can be tricky, but it's worth it.
I use my old android tablet as a web browser and as a SSH terminal for controlling Linux servers
I watched this hoping that it would be more functional something like Google os or Linux OS bringing it back to useable device

Me too 😭 i have an old Samsung galaxy Tab 2 10.1. used to be Great....6vyears ago! I still believe it could be okay as it runs Netflix really well. But anything else it struggles. Error messages. I think if it had a higher operating system maybe it would run apps again updated ones built fur 5.0 and above ect, any suggestions guys would be great 👍
@@heedlaho you have to flash your tablet for that and if your tablet couldn't run many apps that well, odds are it would constantly crash running any other os not intended for it. :)

I still use my RCA Android tablet a lot. But I have another older one that still works fine.
I am an older guy with a lot of high-end stereo equipment of various vintages in my Man Room. It's easy now to add a Bluetooth receiver to an aux. channel on any stereo amplifier. So I'm thinking of loading all of my digital music onto the old tablet (with a 64Gb micro SD card in it) and sending the music via Bluetooth to my stereo gear. Then anyone can just pick up the tablet from the coffee table and choose the songs they want to play over my stereo kind of like a remote with a touchscreen.
It will then play over my large Pioneer and JVC speakers and be a nice addition to my vinyl LP, tape, and CD collection.
Oh, and guys, be gentlemen. Try to show Trisha some respect. She deserves it don't you think?
it can be used for whatapp, facebook, movies, paytm, camera, online banking, movies, music, youtube.. old android tablet can do pretty much everything that your newer tablet can do but it might run slower than your newer tablet..
I use my old tablet to get live telemetry data from any game (e.g. Racing & driving games)

I'm looking to do something like this but not sure what best Ron to use or if one exists I basically want to just run emulation 8 bit n perhaps 16 bit consoles like nes n megadrive do you know what best option would be hope to keep Bluetooth so can use one of those controllers that clip to side of the tablet

I turned my old 1987 Montgomery ward color t v into a stand for my flat screen t.v and DVR in my bedroom...since the t v broke years ago and it has wheels under it...it makes a good stand which I can move closer when I removed my eye glasses....
I have used my old tablet as a smart display which shows time, news & weather
You can also use it as a securty camera monitor.
You can use VLC to view the video feed if you set up port forwarding,

#6 Use it as a second screen for your laptop. Just get a very inexpensive tablet variable adjustment stand or fold into tent mode if its a 2 in 1.

If you have an old tablet that was expensive, it might be worth it but cheaper tablets will most likely not work. Tried that myself but the tablet itself was cheap and you can't do drawing strokes anymore because of the worn our touchscreen

when I was with AT&T. That was a long time ago and have been with T-mobile.
The tablet says "No Sim Card".
I just bought the new T-mobile gateway router and I'm having issues. It reads I am connected, and will cue up internet
with pictures,but when I try to open up the stories, it won't let me. I cannot seem to open up any programs on my tablet. Even utube. I tried downloading the newest version of utube but it won't let me. Can anyone help me ?

If you have already tried the suggestions in this video as well as checking the physical components in and around it perhaps your best bet is to consult with the tablet manufacturer or online forums for further diagnosis as well as consulting with a local Computer Repair shop.

Photo frame wow simple great idea!
I was thinking about mailing my old Samsung tab 4 into a smart mirror. Difficult finding thin enough glass/mirror so the touch screen still operates currently. However I was thinking of covering the screen directly with some mirrored film and then builtin a picture frame around it.

just use your old tablet
Some tablets will not allow you to download new apps, so a lot of those things you should download while you have the chance!
You can side-load older versions of apps that still work on old tablets and phones. Make sure to take the apk through virustotal or something similar to verify that no one planted a virus in it or something

You can turn it into an ereader as well
Disassemble it,put it into a different case,install Ubuntu and then use it as a cheap laptop to school for viewing presentations and having the ability to play full minecraft,portal,portal 2 and other games made for Linux.
Old tablets might not support USB keyboards though so you'll have to get a wireless one
@@Mr.Engine993 Yeah this is a really old comment from me. Most software most likely won't even work on the tablet and it's unlikely for an older tablet to boot linux as it needs a specific generation of ARM processors.

I’m still using an original Nextbook Ares-8.
And I watch UA-cam, Anime, keep an eye on news, collect webpages with recordable news stories. Hard to obsolete these old things. Mine is over 2-years old.
And it still provides over 1600-geekbench, uh... which means it’s fast enough virtually all web traffic. Game playing? I own an i7 iMac, much better for games. Only one problem...
I don’t play anything more complicated than Klondike solitaire. Anybody that does, is probably way older than he should be, to be living in his mothers’ basement.
