Great video! You got me at the end "serving others." I'm about to visit an out of state (cali to maui) gym. Little nervous, I want to be totally respectful. Subbed

      Update
Visited and they treated me well. Partnered and rolled with a purple belt that worked well with me. Everyone else in the class was welcoming as well. Exchanged "gifts" with the owner/professor, mat fee, and bought "merch". I hung out, chatted, and took pictures until the next class. Great experience. If I may add it was at:
      Aloha Roll Academy, Maui
      Professor Gil and Linda
      Thanks again for your video!

I’ve noticed when I train consistently maybe 3-5 times a week i feel like I sometimes do worse than when I come back from a long break. Curious as to why that is. A little back story I’m a purple belt. Recently took off about a month. I went back yesterday for the first time and I felt like my defense went through the roof. Nobody was able to do anything they wanted except for ofcourse the higher belts. But usually the people who give me a hard time felt like they couldn’t do anything to me. But when I train regularly it’s a challenge back and forth.

InFamouzBX I’m curious of this too. I’ve definitely experienced this happening to me too. Hopefully Chris chimes in tomorrow!

That time off sometimes allows your knowledge to consolidate, if that makes sense. You lose the superfluous and only the good stuff remains!

I'm late to this convo, but I can offer my 2 cents. Maybe you're overtraining or have inadequate recovery.
I have a buddy who lifts seriously and he uses a lifting cycle where he escalates his training for a few months and reaches a peak and then he de-escalates his training to allow recovery without losing his gains.
