- A Tuesday morning home invasion in the upscale Newport Beach area of Orange County, just south of Los Angeles, ended in an apparent suicide according to police.
The homeowner opened fire on two suspects who broke into the home. One suspect was taken to an area hospital with gunshot wounds. Officials believe the second suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in an apparent suicide.
Investigators believe this was a targeted attack with the family knowing at least one of the suspects. However a motive is still unknown.

My next door neighbor and her 4 year old daughter were beaten senseless and left for dead in a daylight home invasion 4 years ago. I thought they had been shot there was so much blood on the lady as they loaded her into the ambulance. No one wascever arrested. Cops told everyone to cease talking about because " the family deserves it's privacy." So I went to the sheriff office and was surprised to learn they would not talk to me. I filed a FOIA request for info. Next I get 2 registered letters advising me to cease and desist or I could be arrested for interfering with a criminal investigation and violating the Texas Family Privacy act. I used to watch her two little girls play sing songs and play skip rope in the driveway. But that super predator is still out there. And we are not allowed to talk about it. My son and I got handgun permits, some new guns, ammo, and a 130 pound female Rhottweiler from Lone Creek Rhottweilers. It's a jungle out there. And it's getting worse.

I heard the statement “SAFE COMMUNITY” several times but glad to know they are SAFE BECAUSE THEY ARE ARMED!.
Actually, they weren't "safe" in any sense. Having a fire arm, gives someone a better chance of surviving a home invasion but that person or family isn't "safe". Being "safe" is when you live in an area where there is very low crime or zero crime, if there is such a place.

It is a safe community, it is a safe community. Repeating it doesn’t make it true. The fact is, while some communities are more dangerous than others, no community is absolutely safe. The homeowner who shot the knuckleheads knew the score. You’re responsible for your own safety.

A month ago Australia arrested their very FIRST school shooter, a young man brought two rifles to school and got off three shots before being stopped. No one was harmed in the incident. In this year alone the US has had 16 school shootings, with 9 dead and 23 injured. If I was a homeowner “down unda”, I wouldn’t mind trading those odds for the temporary discomfort of being arrested and charged, knowing I was legitimately acting in self-defense and therefore would eventually go free.

I live in an area of Texas where not only are you going to get a long sentence if you are lucky enough to make it to the getting arrested stage, but you are also very likely to hear the click of a shot gun as you're creeping through the house.

It was a family dispute, the owners knew them.
They said there may be a connection. A family member probably just set up the robbery and sent his frei ds there to do the dirty work. That's what I believe they mean, but I'm sure we'll find out.

I've known of some absolutely insane situations happening in really upstanding areas that were nothing more than disputes over massive amounts of drugs etc. i think most people would be very very surprised at how common drugs really are, especially the harder ones among more upscale individuals

It’s lawlessness because our Governor is encouraging it. In Los Angeles county we have no bail for many crimes. Which basically means your in and out of booking and can commit another crime the same day. Well, maybe the homeowner injured one and killed the other one. And for some reason the police think it's a "suicide." This would prevent the homeowner from having to prove that they were being attacked or something before they shot the man. A suicide doesn't really sound very plausible to me. It's kind of ridiculous to have to prove they were attacking you though, in my opinion. I mean, if they're there it is BAD NEWS. But you know, lawyers probably made those laws so that people would have to pay them lots of money when the hassle comes up after the event where they have to shoot someone and that person dies occurs.
