What you said about monogamous knitting totally resonated with me! By default, i tend to be a manogamous knitter. But I can totally relate to that feeling of just powering through to get to the next thing.
I’m so glad it resonated! It’s hard to find other monogamous knitters 😊 people always talk about wanting to be more of a monogamous knitter but it definitely has its cons as well!
Thank you for inspiring me again. I've not been very well, so hearing you're "Menu" idea for your To Do knits list has helped me with shifting how I think about things when I have very few spoons to spare. I have so many ideas so thinking about it differently I hope to finish a basic top (specifically crochet TCDDIY's Modern Mock Neck Top) and if that's all I manage then, cool.
Also yes! Chickens! I love the idea of them, but you've met them! Nope, nope, nope! lol! The whole video I've been trying to think of a name for it, maybe it's just Cottage Core with a side of Eggs ;) I'm a person that buys blue eggs specifically as they look so nice, boiled, and served in my egg - so I do get it

I love how calming your spring idea plans are! I definitely fall victim to overplanning and overextending myself when it comes to knitting. Your idea of slowing down and knitting very intentionally speaks to me a lot. Sometimes I forget knitting is supposed to be relaxing! The muted egg pastels plus simple, elevated silhouettes you've chosen are going to create a stunning collection for yourself

i like the kind of desaturated jewel tones of the pictures of the eggs. i'm often a bit of a magpie for loud colours and lots of speckles, but it doesn't make for extremely wearable garments that will be worn over and over for many years, so i'm trying to also choose some more muted colours and either solids or tonals to create some more pieces that can be true wardrobe staples.
That’s a great reflection! I definitely feel the pull towards very variegated colors but have learned what makes a more wearable garment for me and now do more tonals and less saturated colors. Hope you can knit with some egg colors!
As someone who has never been a monogamous knitter, I found your reflections very insightful. Sounds like more than one project will be a good thing! I'm sure you'll find your 'sweet spot' between productivity and intention. :)
Thank you! I definitely hope I can find that sweet spot. I’ve heard a lot of others talking about having less WIPs but I think there is a place for 2-3 WIPs to really make each project its most thought out. Here’s hoping we can all find that spot for ourselves!
love those eggshell colors! i know craft me knot yarn co has a quarterly coop club with yarn dyed based on the colors of her chickens, which i feel fits well with this aesthetic haha
Ooh!! I’ll have to check that out! A local-to-me dyer, Hue Loco also has a backyard chickens collection they do every year! Im definitely not the first to be embracing the chicken girl aesthetic 😄

Love all the egg colours! I have always liked different colours of egg shells, not just chicken eggs. My friend has a variety of chicken breeds with different egg colours. So cool!
If you want a little more of an oversized cardigan I can highly recommend the Eva. The shoulder construction is so nice as is the overall fit. I am currently working on my second and will probably make a couple more (I am extremely picky with look and fit and feel like this is it 100% lol). And I agree, the double rib button band with the "sharp" bind off is my favourite detail.
I should definitely look into other birds eggs! The chicken egg shells have been inspiring me soo much. And thanks for your thoughts on the Eva cardigan! It is such a nice garment

is it ok if I just ask, why *don’t* you want chickens? even just one little pet layer lady? maybe your chicken core inspiration is calling to you from a deeper place...I have geese and they are the funniest sweetest creatures ever in my life. I didn’t expect to love them but I do. I don’t know where you live but I have heard of apartment chickens. even in a small space, it IS possible. but if you don’t want them fair is fair, inspiration can be anything, why not chickens? 🤣
Haha fair question! I’d love to maybe have geese or ducks in the future as pets! But I live in an area with lots of chicken predators and don’t really like eggs so there’s a lot of effort to build a predator proof coop for not a big pay off. Their feet also kind of scare me 😅
