Lionel Custom Disney Mickey Mouse Express 101 Dalmatians Boxcar How to make Inkjet Decals & Repaint

- Lionel introduced The Mickey Mouse Express in 1977. What began with a diesel locomotive, caboose and 3 boxcars grew exponentially over the years. One item they left out was a boxcar featuring Disney's 101 Dalmatians. So I found a Hi-Cube boxcar and painted the sides white. In this video, I'll show you all of the steps, including the paint and custom inkjet decals.
Oh man! That is too awesome! It looks like something that Lionel actually made. I love it. Great job!
Thanks buddy!

Great work Bob!
Holy smoke, that boxcar looks so good I'd swear it was original Lionel! Good thing you're one of the good guys, you could fool a lot of people with that Damatians car!
Thanks for posting, and Happy Independence Day!
Thanks Wayne. Happy Fourth of July!
Man, Bob, you know how to make those redesigned freight cars. Have you heard "I Love Toy Trains" before?
Is it a song?
I think this is a great idea. Your finished product looks like it's part of the original set. I was wondering what computer program you were using to create the decals? I would like to try doing something like this myself.
I used Pages on my MacBook. Microsoft word of something similar would work too. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for more great painting and decal tips. Could you link to the decal paper you used? Watching your videos is inspirational and gives me more confidence to paint some of my projects coming up, when it's not raining! Happy Independence Day!
What I used is made by Koala but any white inkjet decal paper would work.
Looks great Bob. Think you’ll do Rescuers or Lady and the Tramp next?
Rescuers would be a good one. I really liked that movie.
I have an experience defect when it comes to working with graphics. What software did you use for the transformation. Clever that you did not need to deal with the problem of printing any white images or letters since you used white decal paper. Great job. I'm going to have to try this at some point.
Thanks, Jim. I used a program on my MacBook called Pages. I think you could do a lot of the same stuff with either Microsoft Word or Google Docs. But I don’t know those other programs very well.
