I agree. Model Railroader, mostly big to huge layouts. Very little small layout coverage and when they do a small layout it gets 1 or 2 pages. This is one of the best small layouts ever.
Wooowww Caleb!!! The fact that this is a 4x8 in O scale blows my mind with what you've packed into it. As Steve Brown from Its My Railroad says, the smaller layouts aren't represented well enough on youtube and this definitely aids that point. The space that the layout is in also looks neat! It was nice to see ya in tville!
You've got a great looking layout going - a lot of outfit incorporated without appearing squeezed. Of course, no layout is ever "done." I like your buildings and how you have them arranged. Thanks for sharing!
I have to say you have created the ultimate 4x8 layout. You have a killer track plan and your scenery is beautiful. Your track ballasting and weathering technique is spot on. The tracks look phenomenal, you may want to consider removing your screws that you had holding down your tracks temporarily until your ballasting is dried. This will improve your close-up shots of your locomotives and rolling stock. I have subscribed to your channel and will follow your progress. Great job! 💯👍 Frank
Awesome layout tour Caleb! Really impressed with everything you have done in a 4x8 space. Looking forward to future updates! Keep up the great work! BTW I just found your YT channel this evening so I’ve got some more of your videos left to watch.
Great layout! You have the gift of training. I too like diamonds and all crossover tracks. The more the better. Although, I think your best wall art is the Cheerwine sign
I might be a little biased, but from where I sit in Michigan, it's good to see 1225 on the wall. Where your "junk pile" is concerned, maybe a pile of ties and a steel tub or wooden crate of tie plates would be interesting details- not junk but maintenance supplies often stored along rail Lines. Nice layout in a 4x8 space. The selection of a 2-8-0 is also a good call as it is a good fit for a small layout.
1225 is a fantastic loco! Hope to own a model of one! And I like your idea for the “junk pile” area, i will probably go with it!! Thank you for the comment sir!!
You might want to add parking meters on the sidewalk when you add parking lines outside the billiards hall. That’d look cool. I’m in Decatur, Al. And big fan of Southern- Southern Serves the South!
You're off to a good start...doing a nice neat job. It might not be the biggest, but if it pleases you, thats all that counts. Keep the updates coming, I can't wait!!
Thanks man I appreciate the kind comments! I definitely wanted something more manageable as far as size so I can focus more on the details! Thanks again!!
That's a fantastic layout! O scale is hard to do on a 4x8 but this looks great. I'm really impressed by your custom 542 and look forward to seeing how you did it!
Thanks man for the kind comment!! It 100% can be difficult with a 4x8 but I tried to make do with my budget and space! Stay tuned I will be making a 542 video!! Thanks!!
I’m gonna be building a new layout soon when I move into my new house and I hope you won’t mind me copying your track plan I absolutely love it. My old layout is anchored to the walls in my parents house and can’t come with me and the room I’m using for my train room can only really hold a 4x8 and this one just seems like it has the perfect amount of scenery space plus dynamic running.
Go for it man! Its an awesome plan! "Annas Siding" Is the track plan, I just modified it to have a couple of extra straight pieces on the sides and added a second siding! Hope that helps man can't wait to see what you create!!
Maybe connect the empty area with that unloading platform to the station with a road. Maybe a place that they could unload stuff and take it to the passenger station.
A lot of people are scared off O gauge because all they see are club sized layouts so they get discouraged and they don't even start. 4X8 was a universal size for whatever gauge you were into. You just had more space with smaller scales. You can even have Standard gauge like a 2 track oval, or figure 8 . Just have fun 😊.
Thank you I appreciate the kind comment! For the layout I use an MTH DCS Explorer for the time being, and for the lionel locomotives I use the bluetooth feature. Eventually I will upgrade soon but what I have works for the time being! Thank you!
4x8 Is The Only Way To Go, I Got Into Lionel And Had Built For Me A 4x8 On Coasters, Able To Move It Need Be, I Then Got Into A Facebook Group O Gauge 4x8 And Smaller , True To The Group, Iam Not Going Away From The 4x8. I Watch UA-cam And See Folks I Subscribe To Also Comment On Your Channel . Just Subbed myself.
When somebody sez O scale... I immediately think of 2rail... I think of 3rail as O Gauge... At almost 80 years old I guess it's Just me... Good stuff, thanks for posting...👍👍👍
You are correct Dwight. This track is O Gauge or O-27, and with its tighter curves and use of Lionel and other tinplate equipment a 4 x 8 layout with a continuous loop for mainline trains is possible. It would not be possible using O scale track & equipment unless you were modelling streetcars - or possibly British railways - or had a switching layout without an oval
Nice video, but please stop saying “yeah!” A lot of UA-camrs do that. Like blowing the whistle non stop it gets old. Lol nice layout, looks great for a 4x8
@@calebeastertrains Thanks that was met constructively although some took it the wrong way! :-D Great video and nice layout. You have a lot going on in 4x8.
This track is O gauge or O-27, depending on the height of the rail, and it runs on 12v ac. O scale track is 2 rail and runs on 12v dc. (I'm a Lionel guy) Beautiful layout, nicely done! 🚂
Great job on layout 👍 amazing what you done in a small space, great work,i just subscribed to your channel looking forward to further updates Thanks for sharing (Eddie @elwtrains)
One of the nicest 4x8s I've ever seen and shaping up to be even better than it already is! Looking forward to seeing the 542 video!
Thanks man!! I will for sure be doing a video on 542 so stay tuned!!
I agree, very nice!!

I like it! It’s not too big. It’s simple, clean and laid out nice. Good Job👍👍
Yessir! Wanted something easier to manage but detailed! Thanks for the kind comments!!
Really like the tie-ins with your train set and other stuff you like to do. Things like the Billiard hall really connect it and make it “yours”!
Thank you sir!! And yup it makes the layout feel all the more personal and fun!!
That’s a very good track plan for a 4x8!
I’m digging it! Thanks for the tour. 😃
Now we just gotta get you more S C E N E R Y!!!

You Have The Ability To Reverse The Train In Either Direction. that's cool.

Very nice layout 👍🏻👍🏻 I like smaller layouts, they are easier to clean and manage. My layout is 6x 10 and sometimes I wish it was a bit smaller

Nice layout. What type of track are you using?
Maybe connect the empty area with that unloading platform to the station with a road. Maybe a place that they could unload stuff and take it to the passenger station.
Do you have a blueprint of the track layout along with a list of the track sizes you used?
A lot of people are scared off O gauge because all they see are club sized layouts so they get discouraged and they don't even start. 4X8 was a universal size for whatever gauge you were into. You just had more space with smaller scales. You can even have Standard gauge like a 2 track oval, or figure 8 . Just have fun 😊.
If you went N scale you could have a huge layout in that space.
Hi sir, very very nice, your a big inspiration to me. What type of controller do you usr if you dont mind me asking?
Thank you I appreciate the kind comment! For the layout I use an MTH DCS Explorer for the time being, and for the lionel locomotives I use the bluetooth feature. Eventually I will upgrade soon but what I have works for the time being! Thank you!
Just wondering your curve track radius
All curves are 036, hope this helps!
