    Liz, I’m forever grateful that you share these videos & almost always learn something when I watch your videos. 🙏🏽 It’s true what you said about the sedums, I’ve lost a few due to the heat now. It’s taken me a couple of years to figure out that they prefer a bit of shade through summer. The sounds when you’re potting up the new babies is soooo satisfying. lol

      Leafy succulents such as Echeveria, Pachyphytum, Graptoveria, Crassula, etc, for example will need to be brought indoors in winter and grown under a grow light to maintain their shape and color.

    Sooo to determine if the soil is dry and ready to be watered,,,, u can tell this how? Some succulents dont show shrivelled leaves.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 роки тому

      When it comes to Echeveria, Sedum/Sedeveria or Moonstone type succulents... The bottom leaves will have a wilted look or an unhappy look. Not bouncy. You can also pick up the pot and if it's light, then it needs watering. Most of the time, if I'm not sure whether to water or not....I don't water.
      Aeonium on the other hand....loves water. No need to wait for shriveled leaves. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Liz

    Liz, I have liquid kelp. And I had a horrible problem this year with watering my succulents but the soil staying dry in the middle I actually lost a lot of plants because of it. Once I figured out what was happening now I soak every single pot rather than just running water through 5 to 10 times but is my liquid kelp the same thing as your soil wetter or do I have to purchase something that specifically says soil wetter/conditioner?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 роки тому +1

      I've used a plain seaweed solution(not soil wetter) and it also worked. Just takes a little longer(an hour or so) compared to the soil wetter.

      @@karmababy3366 I tried using them once but made no different for me. Sometimes it's a matter of waiting. Some plants will grow fast and others can sometimes take forever to germinate or even not at all like the Echeveria Romeo. It's important to know the names of what you have to know for sure what they can do.

    They look absolutely lovely. I just do not understand, why, if you have a rainy season upcoming, you would put those lovely succulents into little pots with no drainage? All it is going to take is one good rain to fill those pretty little containers with an inch or more of water and there is no way for that water to get out! Even with the best draining soil there is no place for the water to go.
    I think that I would have drilled at least a small hole in the bottom of those little pots and raised them up a bit so that the water could drain out. Since those little pots are made of glazed ceramic the moisture is going to sit in there and the soil will stay soggy.
    Those beautiful little containers would work well inside where you have control over the climate conditions and are able to limit how much water enters into them. Even if you go outside and pour the water out of the little containers after every rainy day you are still going to have really wet soil. That top dressing is also going to help hold that moisture in the soil.
    I do hope it all works out for you and those lovely little plants.
