Exciting stuff ! 2025 a busy first 3 months at least. Love to see how the Cheeta turns out. Also, the Dominator with that high KV will be a great re build.
Happy New Year 👍🍻
That’s all a man needs, a plan for his boat, my plans get me through just thinking about them 🤣😆😂 sometimes I actually get a couple of them completed. Beautiful boats you have there. Have you ever built an rc boat from scratch, your own design, give it a try and use some of those proven running gear you have there, I get a huge kick out of it. Happy New Year!!!
Zippkits new gas outrigger. Got to have one gas boat bro.
dose the tray add any rigidity to the hull?
I have twin XLX2’s in my Carbon MHZ Mystic 1140mm which is longer and heavier than the Cheetah. I believe the XLX2’s are overkill for cats when talking amps because they have significantly less drag than a mono. However, the boat needs the weight to stay planted. At 100 mph plus I was considering switching to 8s for the added weight. Cat turns into a plane without the weight.
To add, my motors are leopard 4092’s, I think 2080kv.. XLX2 runs at 80-100 degrees F.
I have a question for anyone that can answer! I have a custom deep v boat that I installed a 4000kv motor and a 4S capable Flycolor esc. When ever I run the boat. if I peg the throttle, that sucker rolls completely over on its top requiring a rescue! I did not get a chance to reduce to 3S battery and reduce the prop size. Any ideas why this boat rolls with ease on 4S? It does have bigger turn fins to see if that would solve the problem, and it did not. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
@parker1ray maybe try a smaller Prop & add trim tabs.
Your asking for advice and not even telling us what boat it is. There's a lot of variables. Need more info
Try a 2000kv motor.
You are experiencing “torque roll” it is easy for fast deep Vs to torque roll because when on plane they stand taller on the water and simply fall over or roll over in the opposite direction of the turning of your motor, usually clockwise as the motor is turning counter clockwise. My suggestion would be to use a motor with half the kv and run your deep V in rough water, that’s what it was made for, they cut through the waves better, just not at high speeds.
Just be forewarned that carbon fiber does NOT cut well!!! don't be surprised if cutting it with a band-saw leaves you with a very frayed edge. Most carbon fiber parts that are cut from multi-layer sheets of carbon fiber pre-preg are cut using a machining burr on a CNC Router table or End Mill. You can also use the burr to clean up frayed edges.
Another commenter here brought up the issues with carbon fiber and yes doesnt cut well especially with a band saw, i use a diamond coated blade in my dremel and cuts like butter but as you know carbon fiber real nasty stuff, a band saw will have dust flying in the air, be sure to use a respirator and outside if possible and even water running over the cut, carbon fiber is the new asbestos but far worse.
Just to add practice your technique for control and accuracy on a scrap piece of carbon close to the right thickness, dont finish cut with the dremel or bandsaw if you decide to use it outside, get close and file and sand to the finish line.
I don't know if you ordered a water jacket for the tp 5250 but don't. I have had the worst experience with tp over this. They don't put the gaskets in the sleeve and the reason is that they can't even do it. The tolerance is so tight between the motor and sleeve that you can't push the gasket in. They refer you to a video on how to do it but it's not the same motor. I'm basically pissed off at tp and really told them where they could shove their crap. And they say that they haven't had any problems with any motor in 5 years. I called them a liar. Anyway my suggestion is there's better companies to buy from and you should.
you know there's 3 IMPBA clubs in southern VA? smithfield, newton, centerville.
@Hogan-m3w ill definitely have to check them out!
@H2oMechanic2RC will change everything for you.
