There is no doubt what Raaja did with mari mari ninne is absolutely right and he made it even more beautiful!
The moment Sindhu replies within no time that it is Ragamanjari, tears rolled out for no reason. 🙏🏻
Charan ji, just watched SB after 20 yrs. Nostalgic from 90s repeat plays.
Then searched and came to savor the music with a Carnatic commentary even more with this video. Thank you so much. Working on my RagaQ and knowledge Graph
My pleasure
As someone who appreciates raga music but has not been able to enter the beauty of the large Tamil film music canon of the 20th century, Sikkil Gurucharan sir's little guided tree tours through these deep, lush gardens are truly sweeping me off my feet. So much gratitude.
Thanks. Warm words of appreciation :)
When you were singing the Kalpana swaram for saramathi my daughter peeped in and asked if it was from sindu bairavi..your initiative is reaching great heights! Best wishes Charan!
Hi Gurucharanji, You are beautifully handholding a common man into the field of classical music without them even realizing that they are subtly drawn towards the world of classical music. Hats off Sir...T.L.Kumaramurthi
Thank you very much
well said!
மீண்டும் மீண்டும் கேட்க தூண்டும் வகையில் உங்கள் பேச்சும்,பாடலும் அமைந்துள்ளது, மனமார்ந்த பாராட்டுக்கள், Charan Sir 👏👌🤝

what a beautiful explanation and rendition.....great
Superb program. Like laga chunri mem dag, madhuban mem radhika nache re. Please consider. It is only a suggestion.
Thank you for this wonderful program.
ரொம்ப நல்லா இருக்கு உங்க எல்லா வீடியோக்களும் தம்பீ.வாழ்க வளமுடன்
So nice of you. Thanks
Your intro shows your modesty
Raja sir is great
The Sindhubairavi BGM is enthralling.. very emotinal , subtle , cannot be explained in words ..
Director Balachander made
Popular to all carnatic music through cinema media.

Lovely charan..awesome
Dear Shri Gurucharan , I stumbled upon this and watched both the parts. Very deeply researched and articulated in an accessible manner. You have brought out the nuances of Isaignani and Kalaignani very well. Thanks
Thanks a ton
Excellent sir. இப்பேர்ப்பட்ட திரைப்பாடல்களால் தான் எங்களுக்கும் கொஞ்சம் ராகங்கள் பரிச்சயம் ஆகிறது. அருமையான காணொளி நன்றி 🙏😊
Very well explanation, thank you very much ❤
Decoding his composition it self requires expertise & may take several Janmas to understand, Imagine creating those in first place. Better not. Maestro is the one of kind chosen one. He is incomparable.
Thank you, I do not know carnatic music but the music touched me like it did for millions. Amazed to know Bhairavi raagam was not used by raja sir, bhairavi character in the movie apadi😊 Genius of Raja sir🙏
Thanks for listening
Saramathi😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
Extraordinary episode. This session makes me watch the movie again. Great insights on hamsadhwani changing to pantuvarali, akapella, and many more. Virtual hugs and great episode. Two splendid musicians Ilayaraja and Sikhil Gurucharan 🙏👍👌
Raja forever!

My double acting role for sensitive common, music questions, and answering and kanakangi raga Tamil, malayalam Tamil film songs . No one have this brave to ask these questions or answering.. if u can watch and u will be surprised. Feed back is welcome. But no discourage pls. Bcs no any other benefits, expect spreading my own point of view and teaching some raga knowledge to music world. I put much hard work . In 8 mins I covered 5 topics
Lovely analysis. Every time I hear the Sindhu Bhairavi theme music in Sindhu Bhairavi ragam, it takes me back to a brilliant 2nd interlude in the song aayiram thaamarai mottukkale that is quite similar to the theme music in Sindhu Bhairavi. That interlude comes quite unexpected in that song and is pure magic.
You are right. I will now listen to it again. Thank you
Dhool tucker, Sir! Thanks a zillion for sharing your thoughts... that bgm of Sindhu can haunt even after one is buried.
No doubt
Superb 👌👏
Sir, awesome explaining of Ragas. Really tears flowing when you are explaining. I was expecting " கலைவாணியே " song in கல்யாணி by Sri. Yesudas Sir but disappointed.
God Bless you Sir
It is in Part 2. Please follow the channel for updates and all content
I believe the Musical Trinities would have been kind enough like MSV to applaud Ilayaraja's interpretation of "Mari Mari ninne.." since it is a respectful art form that imbibed into the hearts of non classical listeners as well in a positive way. I hope there would be another Ilayaraja like person to compose music with carnatic values still haunting and mesmerizing the common audience, another 80's in the thirties or more to come
Very accurate observation and praising the Trinity's generosity
For people like me , who has no knowledge in carnatic music.. could also enjoy the intricacies of all these songs.. thanks for your service
Most welcome!
Excellent sir
In the song "Lochana", Mr.Govindarajan Sir sings first part and KJY Sir completes the second.
If we observe the theermanam of the first part is flat one and the teermanam in second part is somewhat extended one to denote "this is Darbar".
Simply superb Raajaa Sir. Hats off
Superb demo,
It was great to see you in person at your Melbourne visit. Amazing singing as always, Have a safe trip home.
Thanks for listening

Lovely review and naration . Anyone who listens to gurucharan explanation and demonstration, will go more in to carnatic music, thanks
I met him when he was young, i think was doing a course in Loyola college. his family is in music but a great difference is, he shows concern in making common people to get the real raste of classical music. Great service he has rendered, i hope that he will continue in his endeavours more and more, we just cannot end by just thanking him as it is a yeoman service.
Beautiful Analysis of a superb film. Thankyou very much 🙏🙏

Definetly your classicism reaches the moss, no doubt

Pranams Sikkil Sir. Thanks for extending the classicism series and fulfilling your ardent follower suggestions. This was goosebumps all through. So nice of you
Appreciate your dedication passion and sincerity for classical Indian music. God bless you and your family
Thanks a ton
Translation meanings we can know
Original language version should not be replaced is my view.
One thing I’m definitely doing after seeing this episode is watching the movie again! Saw it as a teenager not internalizing much of the musical aspects then more focused on appreciating KB sirs nuanced film making and the brilliant actors portrayals of the iconic characters! Thanks for the nudge! Brilliantly analyzed as always!
Glad. Carnatic music and classic movies 🙂
@@SikkilOfficial super deadly combo indeed!! 😍
Sir,i met you in Srirangam when you came for concert,i really enjoyed your way of nerration, being a great fan of KB,i met KB sir to have interview for 3 hours,Jannan Oram super sir 🙏🙏🙏

Vazthukal
Glad you liked it
Yes very correct. Only you discuss.
Come back. Congrats.
Thank you, I will
Another great episode, sir! Loved listening to Saramathi yet again, and those swarams were beautiful. That BGM will never not move me to tears, and your rendition was no exception, sir. Amazing!
Glad you liked it
Hi, Excellent episodes. Just want to add, not sure if somebody highlighted already.
After this movie, there was a short wave of 'Tamizhakkam of Tyagaraja Krithis'. I remember cassettes of Sri. T N Seshagopalan & Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna having translated versions of Tyagaraja Krithis. Though shortlived, I feel it was an important influence of this movie.
Thanks and keep rocking.
If I may, request you to consider some of the important musical movies from Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada as well. It would be great to analyze them thru a musicians lens😊
Will try. Thanks a lot
superb explanation
Thank you so much 🙂
Sir again am repeating. You are making music insights and analysis is awesome
really taking music to masses
Glad to hear that

Waiting for your classicism episode.Arumai arumai enjoyed thoroughly 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Please teach us more about Carnatic music through film music.Going to watch Sindhubairavi again focusing on the bgms.
Your analysis make us appreciate more and more our legends KB and IR.What a music and movie!!!
Sure 😊
Awesome sir. You are doing the same thing what is suggested in the movie, taking carnatic music to the masses. Hats off to you. This is helping me understand the intricacies better and appreciate the music further. This is a great service, please continue. I used to listen to Mr G S mani sir's concerts in 90s where he used to take film songs from 1950s to present then to explain carnatic music through film music and he succeeded in helping people like me identify a few ragas with no knowledge of carnatic music. Thank you for your efforts
Thank you for this lovely interpretation of the genius’s scores and compositions. I wonder if KB had the same reasoning as yours behind the names Sindhu and Bhairavi. Interestingly Srividhya’s name in Aboorva Ragangal is also Bhairavi.
Could be. 🙂
