As a retired loco driver I never and still don't give a stuff about trespass. I do however give a stuff about idiots wearing hi vis and leading me to believe that they just might be workers or somebody that I should care about. The best thing railfans should do if they want to get close to the action is become as invisible as possible stay still and stand in a safe place.
WOW!!! Really nice run by! Love the feeling of it. Wish I could have been there to see it - and feel it - myself. But this is certainly the next best thing. Great job of picking your spot, as well as getting the shoot itself. Thanks for posting!
shame the duke never made it to cornwall the only bit of the tour i saw was when it was deisel hauled from newton abbot to penzance but great video. wish i had seen it.
I wish ALL Rail fans would follow the explicit advice of GWR4079. Simple. Sound. Safe. Being a Rail Fan, does not give us the right to trespass-anywhere. It's amazing how co-operative, and helpful people can be, when you ask their permission. What has happened to our values? I loved this vid.
@bfcmik the only reason the duke exists is because a princess was destroyed in an accedent and the only reason it lasted longer than the duchesses etc was because it was so much newer and she was always more efficient than the early desils
it was withdrawn before the Duchesses , mainly because it was a poor performer . fireman have been known to go sick rather than work on her. she was rescued from Barry scrapyard , had a new cylinder and valve gear made due to the original being sectioned for display in the Science Museum,, and then the poor steaming put right . if BR had done the work the preservation group did they could have had a superb loco , but nobody was really interested - with some justification , as steam was coming to an end
Doesn't matter if you have PTS. Your mate would know you can only go trackside or near the track if your duty requires you to do so. If it doesn't, it's still trespass.
That, and, when they were built, we had really good quality coal; still do underground; each company built its engines to suit its coal supply; now, at best top surface coal or poor quality coal from eastern europe or wherever
Excellent vid. Shame about the high-vis bloke at the end of the platform. Is he a railway employee? If not, why is he wearing high-vis clothing when he doesn't need to in a public area?
Unfortunately these none railway plonkers always seem to have a need to go beyond the signage, and down the platform ramps! I've blasted the horn at many, and given them some verbal 'advice' !!!
The guy in the hi viz was a bit too close for my liking. It puts the shit up the crew and gives photographers a bad name. The recent run down the Central Wales caused an emergency stop and a wheel flat because of people on the line. It was rescued on wheel skates and dragged to a place to be loaded onto a truck. An expensive kick in the teeth for someone and a bad rep for the heritage industry.
Good work mate/Love the way you can hear the birds singing before the train arrives.Great sound.

A beautiful video; and very well recorded.

From the thumbnail it looks like the loco is on fire! Turns out it's just that chap in the hi-viz jacket :)
GRAHAMAUS and going off the track
It actually is on fire - that’s how steam engines run 😀
Never seen that SL before but I love the whistle on it!
Fantastic, great video...really enjoyed it (all the 4 times I have watched it).
It has done really well to get the train up to that speed from a start at Temple Meads.
Excellent camera work - thank you for sharing!
Excellent camera work. Well done.
Now that's an incredible unique GREAT looking train - I Liked & Subscribed 👍😎

What a cracking piece of film, wonderful.
No. It's a railway station! Even, just a station. Train stations are what they have in other parts of the world.
Excellent video, well captured!

You do know that most of the "smoke" is actually steam?

Awesome loco!

lovely capture....regards from india.
How close was that man to that train?
Great Video.
Tried filming without trespassing?
Superb shot loved it
why cant there be steam trains anymore on normal railway :( those new trains looks like goo beside a shiny steam loco :(
Steffen Jørgensen they are still around on railtour in fairly respectable numbers.
Oh, nice video despite my comment.

Chortle!

Pillock
I'm pretty sure this is a train station..
Dj Djero well done
yes well spotted!!! go to the top of the class
Lovely shot , BUT:
I REALLY HATE high vis jackets!
(Don't we all?)
Bloody things are everywhere
Opens up seen the park train go faster
its not about speed, its about power
@@andyg3 “It’s about drive, it’s about power”
What a crap, mate.
You should have sent away those two fools; mister Orange and friend.
They ruined your shot.
@brackers5 But non-railway people are very easy to spot by their behaviour! Shame they don't get prosecuted more!
HELLFIRE :o)
@djdjerojr
Goose pimple time.....
