Hey man! Great video! I'm from Argentina myself, and I wanted to say that you made a great job! It's a really nice explanation of my home country in a nutshell. Little side note tho: when you say "then the country united and disunited", you say the year 1952, I'm guessing it was a typing error, but that actually was in the year 1852. The same happens when you say that Buenos Aires re-joined the Confederation, it was in the year 1861, not 1961. It happens one more when you speak about the "Triple Alianza" war, you mention the year 1978, when in fact it was the year 1878. After that, you name the years correctly. I'm sure that it wasn't intentional and it was just a typing accident, but I wanted to clear that out if someone was a bit distracted to notice, years are important when speaking about nations with such a short history like Argentina. Anyway, great video my friend, you just got a new subscriber!
¿Porqué no?
Adding to this typo I would added The oldest colonial settlement that still stands today is Santiago del Eatero City. The current city of Buenos Aires was founded in 1580. There was a previous settlement in the same geographical area but it was Abandoned after it was Raided my native maybe that is why the mix-up.
It's an incredible country, I have plans to go to study in Argentina and maybe create a life when I turn 22, the only fear is not being accepted by what I know about the stereotypes of Argentina. For now I am 17 years old in Florianopolis, I see several Argentines in practically every corner of Florianopolis, in my studies, even at work. they are teaching me spanish, they are amazing.
Hi, i am from the USA AND i have lived in Argentina moust of my life AND people do not care that a was not born in Argentina (and I am black AND gay) people are ok in Argentina 😊
Hi, Buenos Aires, the official capital, has actually 3 million people as stated in the video. But with its outskirts, actually where most people live, you reach the 15 million people mark. It is called Gran Buenos Aires and it’s the second largest metropolitan area in South America after São Paulo. Plus, you have more or less 10 million more living in the province of Buenos Aires (300.000 km2, the size of all Italy). After that, you have 2.5 million square kilometres of land (half the European Union) where 23 million live. So you can have an idea of how crazy this is.
As a non-Argentine, I started to have a fascination with the country because of the word cup. (I felt so lucky seeing Messi lift the cup!) I can list at least 3 cities aside from Buenos Aires: Cordoba, Santa Fe, (both the cities), and Rosario.
rosario which was considered the 2nd capital of the country in the beginnings of the 20th century is now an narco city state, they really messed this nation up

It all begun with Operation Condor in 1974. United States started to infiltrate the Peronist movement (largest in southamerica) and after a few coup d'etat backed by UK and US we've received Democracy, everything went privatized and people became cattle of media and government.

I lived in Argentina for a few years. It will always have a place in my heart. The people are unique in temperament. I've been in 15 countries. I was there when Peron returned from exile.
If they could ever stabilize their economy, I'd be interested in loving there for a long time. Great scenery, warm people, excellent food, etc. Economy and leadership leaves a lot to be desired, which is strange given the high IQ of its people and all its natural resources.
Basicamente.

@@MarcosReves The problem is peronism, aka: Argentinian Fascism. As with all forms of socialism, if it's not purged entirely, it returns, and it ill never cease to corrupt and destroy everything unless erradicated completely.
it's strange to see so many people treating peron like a fucking cult leader and worshipping his every move, some devout peronists even have shitty statues of him like he's some sort of buddha, it's quite a paradoxical decadent corrupt ideology, because Peronists love to speak about how socialist tehy are and how much they care about class issues like the struggles of the workers, yet peron was an authoritarian right wing leader at best, post spain he became somehow even closer to franco. Hello from Argentina. Beautiful video and very informative, it's clear the effort you've put into it, thank you for such dedication. Regarding the Falkland Islands, it's important to clarify that the war was decided by Videla (a dictator) and he forced 18-year-old young men to go to war without prior preparation, and under very harsh conditions, as some of them died due to the cold. I also wanted to clarify that the Falklands have always been Argentine, but it was the British who invaded the islands first. P.S.: The country is suffering due to the corrupt politicians in power; I could present evidence and provide more explanations if needed.
The British never invaded the island, first it claimed it as sovereign territory, nobody inhabited it, it then had French and Spanish invaders who were cleared off and the British settlers inhabited it from there on, Argentina has never had settlers on the Falklands. Argentina's government of the day decided to attack the Falklands in the 1980's because they were struggling with domestic issues and it was used as an excuse to incite national fervour, however it failed. The islanders themselves have voted by over 99% to remain under the protection of the UK, and that's the best indication of who runs it. If Argentina sorts out its corruption problem and becomes a more wealthy state it might have some traction on replacing British protection, but at present it has none!?!

Nunca se dice "the Land of Fire".

Excelent Resume. There is only one mistake. 1852 instead of 1952 it was when the civil war between Federals and Unitarians ended. And1879 it was the beggining of the "Desert Campaign" until 1906/1910. It was a occupation of the patagonia's land, wich was populated by aborigens.
Good things about Argentina: -People are welcoming towards foreigners. -Normal people are open minded. -Nice places to visit. -Food is good. -Ladies are cute. Bad things about Argentina: -High crime rate, specially in big cities. Mostly because criminals can vote and politicians, particularly the more Left ones, favor criminals over law-abiding citizens. If a criminal stabs you to death, it's gonna be walking away within days in some cases; but if you kill it in self defense you can face decades of prison. -Infested with socialism. Argentinian Fascism has two names here: Peronism and Kirchnerism. The adherents are quite fanatical. -The Economy is a wreck. Decades of peronist governments pushing destructive policies of abusive taxation, reckless money printing, ridiculous regulations and subsidising parasites leading to enourmous deficit.

GOOD JOB MAN! You made me spend a few tears. Im so proud of my country yet so ashamed of my Government (i do like some politicians but they are few and not so "followed"), that all of those statistics made me think of greater, elusive times for my people. Thanks a lot.
I have to make a big correction. The Conquest of the Desert was not against the native peoples but to enforce Argentine sovereignty against cattle rustlers crossing the Andes Mountains. The absence of the State allowed Chileans, most of them of Mapuche ethnicity, hence the confusion about who the campaign was directed against, to cross into Argentine territory to steal cattle and sell them in the Pacific ports. In fact, the Argentine Army under the command of General Roca, who was charged with the task, recruited many native Tehuelches into its ranks who were also victims of the Mapuche marauders.
Actually the Mapuches are not the first people or nation in Chile and they are not natives of Chile , they arrived from Argentina to Chile , they came from the south of Brazil , travelling along the pampas until they reached Chile , their last possible destination , they were an invader tribe

The first recorded person to land on the Falklands was Captain John Strong in 1690, the island was uninhabited. The French colonies were first Established in the Port Louis on the East Falkland Islands in 1764, in 1765 the UK landed on West Falklands and claimed sovereignty over it and the surrounding Falklands islands, a British settlement was established in 1766 , the Spanish bought the French settlement also in 1766, the British withdrew their settlement in 1774 but did not relinquish their sovereignty, in 1811 all garrisons or settlement departed the Falklands, in 1816 Argentina declared it's independence from Spain and asserted its authority over the Falklands as the successor state to Spain (Although having no presence on the Falklands) and in 1820-1821 Colonel Jewett employed by Argentina who started out as a privateer, but before he landed on the Falklands he captured two neutral ships (Portuguese and US) which changed his status to pirate and therefore all his actions were illegal under the laws from that time. Argentina tried to establish a garrison on the Falklands Islands on the 6/10/1832 and three months later in 1833 the British who never relinquished it's sovereignty sent a warship to the old French colony (Bought by Spain) in 1833 and expelled the Argentinian military (Without loss of life) who never returned from that date (Untill the illegal invasion in the 1980's), the Falkland islanders in the last election voted by over 99% to stay a Overseas Territory of the UK and is majorly self governing. 💞😘

I think countries like Argentina prove that while geography is of-course important to a countries success. It isn’t EVERYTHING like some make it out to be.
It reminds me of the classic economics quote by Simon Kuznets: "There are four kinds of countries: developed countries, underdeveloped countryies Japan and Argentina." Argentina is a perplexing failure and squandered every possible advantage it had when it really should be one of the most prosperous countries in the world. I'm not holding my breath for Argentina to get better. At the end of the day, a society comes to the core ideals and mentality its inhabitants hold. If the mentality is sick, then all is lost.
England attacked the Malvinas Islands in the 70s, not the other way around. The islands are Argentine, historically speaking (Falkland is the name England gave when they won the war)
Exactly. First they were french, then those french islands got conquered by Spanish conquistadors, then we inherited those islands after we gained our freedom. Then, shortly after, some pirates that claimed to hail from the Royal Crown itself took it, and we took it back. And at last, while we were under military dictatorship, a failing and corrupted british govnerment tried to use it as an excuse to save face and... well, it all came to a pointless war between 2 corrupted mongrels in wich many innocent died.
It is an "Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" voted by over 99% of the Falkland islanders in the last election to remain that way (As they are mostly of UK descent not Argentinian). The Falklands was not inhabited until the French put a settlement on the East Falklands in 1764, the UK expedition in 1765 claimed sovereignty of the West Falklands and all the neighbouring islands, and in 1766 the Spanish bought the French colony and the UK settled in the West Falklands, the UK had some toing and froing but never relinquished it's sovereignty and since 1833 has continuously held sovereignty and presence on the Falkland Islands, Argentina in a suprise attack illegally invaded the island for 74 days in the 1980's until the UK reasserted its sovereignty!?!

You got a couple of topics COMPLETELY WRONG. The secession war happened in the XIX and not in the XX century as you say in the video. Then the rest of the country DID NOT WANT TO KEEP Buenos Aires AS ITS CAPITAL CITY. The elite in that city imposed a plutocratic oligarchy over the rest of the country that functioned (apparently) well until all the immigrants came because the system did not share the riches with the majority of the population but concentrated it together with all the assets, and so made an extremely small group very rich while the majority stayed poor. So the country as a whole was never rich. What you showed here is extremely simplistic ... the GDP says NOTHING about how and where the money is, even less if it is used to develop a place or just flies away.
Well, my friend. History and data contradict your assertions. If Argentina was never as rich a country as the video claims, why did Europeans choose to move to Argentina, to remain poor? The reality is quite different. Any immigrant who arrived in Argentina towards the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century could have access to things that were almost impossible in his native Europe, such as owning a house, a piece of land, establishing a business or an industry, higher education. That is why Europeans chose to emigrate to Argentina or the USA.
@@jamesrosemary2932 Well, the majority of the people you are talking about remained poor, just not as poor as they were in Europe. I think we have a problem of differentiation here. Because to possess a large GDP does not mean that the people of that country are rich. To explain what I am talking about you need to know the following fact, while the USA, Canada, and Australia distributed the land available between millions of their inhabitants, after a civil war the winning party stole that land from the losing country/population and put it in very, very few hands. In other words, they converted the newly built country into a medieval feudal system, in which a group of around 100 families possessed almost everything and the vast majority almost nothing. As long as the population remained small, there was enough to share between that small number of inhabitants, but then as the immigrants came, this obsolete system began to crumble into pieces. By the 1930s was obvious that the system stopped working properly and in 1976 the Americans imposed a military dictatorship to be able to steal goods in an organized manner (the same as in Chile, Iran, Irak, Brazil, Bolivia, Niger, Nigeria, the whole of Europe, Japan, and the other 150 countries they keep occupied) then the country fell into chaos and extreme poverty, with every new president (with some few exceptions) the country went deeper down the ally of destruction until we arrived today. The same 100 families and now the Americans steal and destroy as they want, without anybody being able to do anything against it.
It is important to mention that Buenos Aires city is an administrative district, the whole city is much bigger comprising a massive urban area with mor than 12 million of souls and functioning as one city in several aspects

Let me mention that in the video you SHOULD HAVE MADE REFERENCE TO FOLCLORE Music. Apart from that... quite complete
¿Porqué no?

P.S.: The country is suffering due to the corrupt politicians in power; I could present evidence and provide more explanations if needed.
for clarification, the war was decided by Galtieri, also a dictator.

Good things about Argentina:
-People are welcoming towards foreigners.
-Normal people are open minded.
-Nice places to visit.
-Food is good.
-Ladies are cute.
Bad things about Argentina:
-High crime rate, specially in big cities.

And we must add the Frenchs, English and maybe anothers that desired the land.

Until Peronism arrived in 1946.
Neither Germany is Nazi, nor Italy is fascist, nor Russia is Stalinist. The only ones who still vote for Peronism after 70 years are the Argentines (new Argentines). Peronism was always clear that taking a poor person out of poverty and educating him implied losing a voter. That's how they've been handled since 1946.

Argentina is a perplexing failure and squandered every possible advantage it had when it really should be one of the most prosperous countries in the world.
I'm coming Argentina!
Milei Presidente!
It is important to mention that Buenos Aires city is an administrative district, the whole city is much bigger comprising a massive urban area with mor than 12 million of souls and functioning as one city in several aspects

Javier Milei can restore this once great country. What has happened there is an absolute tragedy based on power and greed. They need to ditch government.

Another messiah savior of the country?
Argentines, have you learned nothing from the time of the caudillos, Rosas, Perón, Duhalde, Kirchner and so on?
Argentina does not need all-powerful saviors of the country. You'll need to change your mentality. You'll need to understand that democracy, republicanism and the rule of law are not concepts that are studied in school and that's it. They are ways of life that led to the development of many different countries more unfortunate than Argentina is now.
@@jamesrosemary2932 The real problem with my country is that it has a very big case of "but the people are retarded" and we idolize politicians that robs us but buy us bread before the elections. What was socialism in its day became populism and now is the cancer of this place.
@@jamesrosemary2932 do you know anything about Milei? He is proposing to be anything but all-powerful. He wants the government to have far less power!

What is your descent?
1 We love Perón he gave workers and women most right we have today and 2 you didn’t talk about the dictatorships USA sent to a lot of Latinamerican country’s that we’re doing well economically and socially. That’s why in 2001 thanks to dictatorships that wanted to bring liberal capitalism we enter in crisis. We were already capitalist but we literally sold our country during those years
Peron and kirchnerism ruined this country. There is no discuss about that. If you try tu argue against that it is because youre 1: not informed or 2: a stupid peronist/kirchnerist person.
False!!! Perón at first was also a dictator.
Like it or not, and IN SPITE of the peronist kleptocrat party, Argentina was and still is a capitalist country! Although the omnipresent state bureaucracy, fascist meddling and rampant bureaucracy is slowly destroying the countrie's middle class (the main factor that always distinguished and differentiated Argentina from the rest of Latín América (middle class that is now, in view of the catastrophic Kirchnerist governments, emmigrating in hughe numbers)

What is your descent?
Fun fact, Nahuelito is older than nessie
Buenos Aires, Patagonia, Bariloche, Mendoza, Rosario. BOOM!
The only three cities I know by memory are Buenos Aires (of course) Cordoba and Rosario. I have lots of Argentine friends but still don't know too much.

Really good video, you mess up some dates by 100 years, but its okay :).
There was a lot of silver in argentina, but is all gone, they call it the "silver river" because they transport the silver to Europa through it.
They slave a lot of natives to extract thar silver, most of them die from mercury intoxication (it is use in the extraction of the silver)
There is a little resentment on europians in some communities because of that and other things, but mostly because of the Malvinas.
Argentina has a lot of what I love about Wyoming. :+ )
Good video, but you were badly mistaken at the years. At 9:38 you said that Buenos Aires separated at 1952, but at that year Argentina was a well established country. I guess you meant 1852. You were 100 years off in the next events you comented
Great video, but at 09:38 I think you had a typo and add 100 years to every event! Example, it's 1852, not 1952. Great video though.
everytime he pronuced argentinian words i died inside as a bonaerense
6:50 That's the Estudiantes de La Plata stadium. How could have anyone made this mistake when looking the pictures up? River Plate's stadium is the Monumental wich is way bigger and circular.
Great video except for the mistaken dates! Nevertheless... I encourage you to make the corresponding ammendments and keep it up!
thats my country baby!
